I Go Out To My Car In The Morning The Last Couple Days And It Won'

I go out to my car in the morning the last couple days and it won't start. All I get is a clicking. Cluster, radio etc... comes on but fan doesn't blow any air through vents.

If I put it in neutral and let it roll forward a couple inches that works for the most part but sometimes it doesn't and I have to boost it. I had my battery tested after a 90 min. drive and its fine.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Clean the battery terminals and the neg/pos battery cables with a wire brush. Then roll on B)

How was battery tested? Was a cranking current load simulated? Just measuring voltage doesn't tell you much.

Are you sure there isn't some device left on that bleeding down the battery after the engine is off?

As mentioned cleaning the battery posts is a good idea. Make sure the bolts are torqued well also. You can't pull the 200 or so AMPs the starter needs through loose or oxidized connections.

I cleaned the terminals and made sure all the connections were good. Still same problem. I had the battery tested with a device that does the cranking load simulation and all is good. I think its the starter. I say this because if I roll it forward a little it starts - at least 80% of the time.

LET'S HOPE IT'S NOT THE STARTER!!!!

Ya I know. I've been researching and it looks like a serious PITA. I just can't think it's anything else.

mine was clicking and buzzing--this went on all winter--never went out-still starts---but that's what it was!

i had this exact problem, i had all sorts of tests run and in the end the starter was failing, replaced with brand new for around 1000$ U.S. with labor, she runs and starts like new again

grab some tools, buy a starter, some beer and take off a friday.

a 3 day weekend is all you need.
