kurtk Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 A dumb question from a newbie... What is the significance on gold lettering of your model type etc. on a car? Thanks, Kurt 1999 Gs 400 Sunny San Diego
djspawn00 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 often it just means you paid more for shiny stuff...
90LS400Lexus Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 My old 1990 LS400 (as seen to the left of this) had it and I hated it. It did not go well with the dark maroon color in my opinion. Looks good on some colors though.
Lexusfreak Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I've seen alot of them too (they were popular with Caddy's years ago....Bling....Bling! ;) ). Because they are gold plated, they will fade & look pretty gawdy after several years. Never cared for them personally.

raymsixsix Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 To me the gold package was the bling of the 80's. Nowadays the bling is chrome rims B)

jcrome04 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Some black cars with gold package look good. Some white cars too. Just depends on the car personally, but I'd prefer chome over gold.
90LS400Lexus Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 DC... whats ironic is that my 1990 LS400 with the gold lettering (as seen to the left) was originally from Florida! :P Just a buyers choice, Older gen. buyers (like retired floridians) tend to opt for the Gold Package IMO.

Irony, That reminds me, I have dress shirts in the dryer. I like the smoked chrome emblems on a black lex.
