  1. Sorry about the last whacked post. I was trying to ask GS in Fla town what year GS he /she has and screwed up
  2. HI there, I have been using the NAPA 1515 which is considerably larger than the factory filter, same flow rate confirmed by NAPA tech person behind the counter. I use royal purple and the NAPA gold 1515. You may want to do your own research on this to see if this set up will work for you! Cheers B)
  3. Hello All. I know the size that's called for in the Pure One filter is the pl20145,but it seems so small? Read some where the Pl 20195 will work too and is larger which I seem to believe is better... Anyone fitted the the larger one ? Any comments? Thanx ;)
  4. Greetings! I know I saw it somewhere... which Model(s) can you do a direct swap to get a nice wooden steering wheel? I don't care about losing the manual push shifters... Thanks!
  5. I always name mine sled. The Jag was named Dover cuz it was white tudor same color as the cliffs/sands of Dover, the Z car was Azure as in the beautiful blue seas color it was, I had a Chevelle named Chefe cuz it had the Boss v-8 and finally the Lexus is Bento cuz I speak some Portugues and this car drives like the wind and wind down in Rio was vento and a oriential trying to say vento would come up with "bento" hope that makes sense and doesn't offend anyone
  6. Saj, I can tell it's from the immediate steering wheel area. Just when making minor turns ..it kinds of moans almost. small tunrs either way will ellict a small squeak. I'd like to fire away with WD 40 or something maybe silcon spray .
  7. Howdy Fellow Enlightened Drivers, These are GREAT cars with few issues. My 1999 Gs 400 just started making these mild ,annoying squeaks when making turns. Seems to be coming from the steering cloumun ..any ideas on how to silence it?
  8. I agree...nothing beats a stick for thrill of driving but I always end up spilling my drink and these cars esp the 400's are so damn fast shifting isn't really a necessity :P
  9. Well? Well? Did you pull the trigger or wuss out? I'm in sales and see so much buyer's remorse over not pulling the trigger...and over what ...2% of total sales price :o
  10. You'd be amazed at how many "bad" air valve stems are out there. Have those checked and for the other stuff do what all those other guys suggested B)
  11. Thought I'd heard/read somewhere where the Lexus leather is a "sealed" type and expensive leather products ie Hyde Food, Leatherique, don't really soak in??
  12. I was getting about 14-15 all city driving and was detailing my baby and noticed the tires (michelin as exaltos) said inflate up to 40 something but were only infaled to 32 psi as per Lexus specs. So I jacked them up to 37, didn't really notice any big change in ride or handling but MPG did go up to 17 !
  13. yeah u might but then you'll just get lost as you still back in 2004 and by the time u find it i'll have been there for hours . i still dont understand why they would do that kurtk. seems like them woulda built something to replace it........n actually they should be very close u def wont smoke us. think our torque will help us here even with you'lls little e-shift and our slow shifting tranny. havent seen u active on the "other" site u still on? Yeah I go spurts of activity :P Probably depends on the nightly intake
  14. Hea Sak, Don't be dissing us pre 2001's just cuz we can't upgrade our GPS's. I'm thinking we'll smoke you down and off the line :D
  15. Sounds like you've got most of the differences pegged. I have 1999 GS 400 and city driving I get around 15 mpg and 24 highway.
  16. I would love to help you getting these parts for a less since I work for dealership here in SoCal. But since you are in another parts of the land. Why don't you let one of the repair shop try to get it at their shop discount maybe that will help you a little at least. I know the dealership charges you an arms and legs especially labors. Best way is to find one of the repairs shop that you know to see if they could get it for you. Just an advice..... Joel Hey Joel, Where are you at?
  17. Pep Boys is always running great specials which gets the synthic oil down to like $2.50 a qt and a Pure One oil filter which I hear are very good. ;)
  18. Just had all the above done at a Toyota Dealership as I have no connects and out the door at $1350. 1999 GS 400 86,000 miles and roaring!
  19. Another Dumb responder... Have the seat memory settings ever been set?? Myabe it's trying to go to no where.
  20. EZ Boys.... WRMOAJ ( Which Reminds Me Of A Joke) What's the difference between a catus and a Porsche?
  21. This ought to make all the weekend mechanics out there very happy. Just did everything mentioned here for $450 in parts (including new thermostat, lower hose, air filter), OEM parts from Irontoad. A weekend mechanic could make between $100 and $200/hr doing this job! Sure beats the minimum wage I normally make working on cars. I guess it helps to be working on a Lex though. Yeah but I've got clean finger nails and someone to back too if something :D f's up. I went to a newer Toyota place in Santee by Fanita and Mission Gorge. Good guys
  22. What new law?? I'm in Calli too and I see hundreds of GPS' stuck to the front window shields...Could be one of those laws just to give the Po Po a valid reason to shake you down?
  23. No you can't. But there is one final update for our systems with 2004 info, but then thta's it!
  24. Howdy Gang! Took my 1999 GS 400 with 86,000 miles into the Toyota Dealer. Orginally was just going to get a tune up after reading countless threads about the pros and cons of doing a "major maintence". Change out the water pump with the timing belt?..no they last a long time ..why replace a good part...etc. Opted to get the timing belt and water pump done and requested the serpentine belt as well. Orginal estimate for t belt, water pump, and tune up was $1,090. Not too bad I thought. Got a call a few hours later with the news the water pump was leaking(they took pictures on a cell phone) so it was a good call to have included that. Also said I had heavy build up of carbon and crap in the fuel injector system and throttle something or other ($65) to clean that up. They said tensioner belt and idler pulleys not noisey but my call as to whether to change them out too( sure why not what's another 2-300$) as long as they have my baby torn apart. Asked about cam seals and was advised those don't often leak and if a seals sealing ..leave well enough alone ( so I did). Final bill $1619. All OEM parts new plugs yada, yada. Service manager also advised against Toyota Red antifreeze as it has salt in it that will actually hasten leaks even though I read threads by people praising it's vitures as a great lubricator and protectant. So that's my story. Glad I didn't wait another year or 10,000 miles even though the car was running perfectly. I had bought it last year and had only sckety service records on it. So I figure ( hope!) i'm good for another 10 yrs of happy trouble free hauling !Removed!! B)
