Cellphone Remote Key Entry

Recently I received an email stating if one is locked out they could use their cell phone and someone with key on other end to get in.

The idea was to press the key button on the other end and door would unlock. I tried and it did not work, but it seems possible. I suspect its a frequency and the signal would go through the phone?

Just something stupid and interesting..

where'd you hear that? is it new technology? sounds pretty useful to me, if you're stranded somewhere without a key. think they have it in japan? knowing them it's already standard. <_<

Frequencies from the key is a noise that a human cannot hear.

So can a cell phone acuratly recreate the exact same frequencie signiture?

Just ask your self the one logically answer, how do you always know when someone is calling from a cell phone over a landline?

you def. have to be in a certain range to use a remote key and i also doubt across a cell X amount of distance away is close enough
