    • Upon purchasing a used 2012 Lexus IS 250, the initial issue was that the brakes needed to be pressed all the way down to function. I took the car to a local repair shop, where they replaced the master cylinder, brake booster, and front brake calipers. However, after these repairs, a new problem emerged: the brakes started skipping, gripping suddenly, and making a squeaking noise, likely from the front left side. The ABS light briefly illuminated but then went off again. The repair shop technicians mentioned they were unable to connect the car to a computer to reprogram or reset the ABS. Consequently, I took the car to Midas for a brake inspection and diagnostic test. They discovered two blown fuses, replaced them, and successfully connected the car to a computer for a software update. Initially, they found an error code related to the ECU, not the ABS. After reprogramming the ABS, they reported no further error codes, assuring me that the brakes should be fine. Despite this, the problem persists. The brakes continue to hold and release rapidly, accompanied by a squeaking noise when they hold. Additionally, my fuel efficiency has significantly dropped. Initially, I was getting around 19.5 MPG, but after the repairs and despite driving economically within the city, my fuel efficiency has decreased to 16 MPG. Furthermore, the brake light and TPMS light remain on consistently. I have already spent an additional $2,000 after purchasing the car, with no resolution to the issues. Everything seems to be messed up.
    • Typically, a hot exhaust means a lean mixture.  However, a rich mixture will also make a catalytic converter run hot. I'm going to assume that you've never opened up the ECU and inspected the capacitors for leakage.  All LS400's are prone to this.  In 1997 and earlier models, the problem is extremely common.  Click the link for information overload. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/656360-all-my-crazy-lexus-issues-solved-ecu-leaking-capacitor.html
    • On my 2019 RX 350 the radio suddenly failed (screen showed "error" message and said to "see dealer service").  The car has 67,000 miles and was, I thought, in excellent shape.  The repair estimate from 2 different dealers is $3300 plus tax for a reconditioned radio (they said a new one was closer to $10,000).  Warranty is one year.  I tried to reboot the computer as others have suggested by disconnecting the battery, but that had no effect. I'm disappointed in Lexus reliability.  I see that this has happened to other owners more than once on the same car. The service tech said this does happen randomly on this model with anywhere from 5,000 miles to over 100,000 miles. --Dave Mote
    • I would take it to an alignment shop to inspect it. It may be out of alignment.
    • I use: Cassette Adapter with AUX connector. And then I purchased a TUNAI Firefly Bluetooth adapter. It plugs into 12VDC and has a female AUX plug for the cassette Adapter.   I have seen other take apart the dash and use the CD audio out cables with a bluetooth adapter for allegedly better sound quality.   MY 2006 speakers are not in great shape so high fidelity is not something I need until I fix my speakers.
