I wouldn't sweat the small things, like a slightly different height. At least the clunk disappeared, and that's the important part. It's like trying to either please your wife and go out to dinner with her, or stay home with an angry wife but you get to watch the game. Can't have everything but you choose the lesser evil. ;)

Whomping $805. I agreed to my parents I'd pay for half, so my bank acct will be $400 less :cries: . I don't want to sound stubborn, but what is a heat gun? I'm not a real handy man. Now the wait time is making me go crazy. Roughly maybe get my baby fixed by Wed next week, hopefully. This will be a "two birds with one stone" deal now because the dealer that's replacing my scratched rim, also has the body shop that I'm having my baby fixed. Boy it looks so ugly with that crumple. :( :(

Not that I know of. Is the height difference so significant that the dealership should ought to look at it? Mine's the same height difference. Sometimes the system has the rear end higher when you turn the vehicle off, just the system adjusting to weight, road clearance, etc.. It's normal. Once I did load about 20 or 25 boxes of Pergo laminate flooring and the height throughout the trip was at normal but once I removed the boxes, the height was waaay much higher to compensate for the weight. lol. ;)

MCF34, Every unit will have it's own little, imperfections. Maybe your brother has driven the beaten up loaner RX330/350s because people don't take care of loaners or rentals. Personally, I've had a new loaner, and seems like there aren't any rattles. Once I had a loaner with only 350 on the odo.It was relatively perfect, maybe a little rattle on the dash. Otherwise, if you take care of it, it shouldn't be too bad. Good luck in deciding on either the RX or GX. :)

95_SC400 Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind. But as i did mention, to meet my standards I need a replacement bumper. I actually found two little cracks underneath the bumper so that's it for me. I am really getting anxious towards the openning time of the body shops I have in mind, and crossing fingers that it will be less than $1 grand for a new painted bumper. :cries:

Considering Gx470..any Advice Appreciated...

Good question. Many have disliked the GX's rear door. Personally I have actually come to like it. Why? My 4Runner has a lift back rear door, and since it's taller than my odyssey, it actually hits the frame of my garage door, which can cause future dings and scratches. Unlike my GX, swinging out isn't a pain. I havent really owned a car that you can open the rear trunk w/o having to open the garage door, personally. The LX is different from the RX though. Some people, especially short people, hate the way the LX's rear door opens. It splits in half, meaning top half goes up, bottom half goes down. Now doesn't that make it harder to reach something inside if the bottom half is down? If you have the bottom half close, it's still hard to reach in. The RX is the best candidate if you really want that kind of door. Personally I like the side openning door. ;) -
Yes I know it doesn't seem like it could crumple it, but oh well. The wait time is what's making me mad right now. Wasted one day because shops are closed due to being Jan 1st and hopefully the wait time won't be too long once I get it to the shop. Now I really have to be careful in where I go in the 4Runner so people that are picky like me won't see me. <_<

Thanks for everyone's concerns. No one got hurt, but someTHING got hurt. Here's the story. So I was going to wash the Ody since it had been raining a lot last week. The 4Runner was outside so I backed it out of the driveway. I notice this Chevy Colorado driving quite fast around the bend (my street's in a circle so it's sometimes hard to see around the bend when driving fast) and I wanted to be on the safe side by backing up faster and more, so I would cross the street and my car would be on the other side in case the truck didn't stop or see me. Turns out that I backed into this green tall electric box, and crumpled my 4Runner's bumper. All I heard from the cabin was a "cruuuck" and I quickly pulled forward and checked it out. It turned out worse than what I was thinking. I was thinking (and hoping) that only my hitch hit the box and that would be scratched up, or hoping the box went under my bumper (since the 4Runner has a big ground clearance) and possibly scratch under my bumper. It turns out that it crumpled my left corner of the bumper. I quickly parked it in my garage and laid down on my back and crawled under the car to try to push it back out. I even took a hammer and tried to hammer it out. No luck. There aren't even major scratches, just a crumple. If it could be pushed out perfectly w/o any deformities or anything, the small scratches could easily be buffed out. But I'm guessing the only way to meet my standards is to have the whole thing replaced and I'll pay for it out of my pocket (since it'll be a pain in the !Removed! to deal with insurance). Luckily it didn't damage anything behind the bumper as the part that crumpled in was a hollow part and there was nothing behind it. Now my back really hurts as I wasn't in the best position when I went under the car and tried to push the crumple out. I also have a big bruise on my arm because my arm was hitting some metal thing when i was banging on the bumper (in which I didn't even pay attention to it when I was hitting the bumper). But the main part is, No one is hurt. I saved that idiot's car by wrecking mine into a electric box instead of him rear ending me. <_< <_< :chairshot: The stupid box P.S. Does anyone know of a website where I can check the price of a new bumper? I tried searching the web but couldn't find an 06 4Runner bumper. I only found an 05. :chairshot:

MCF34 It is ok to decide if headroom is inefficient for your needs. You're 6'1" and I'm 6 ft but to my personal settings, I feel that the GX has enough headroom. Try my 4Runner, oh boy, and you would never even think of getting one with a moonroof. lol. I see where you're coming from. If you are decided that the GX is the one for you, I would personally pick a new car over a used one. Yes you obviously sacrifice some nice extra features but at least you are satisfied and have a clean mind that you, and only YOU used the vehicle. Shine a little light here? Back before I bought my GX, I was deciding between my GX and a 2000 LX470. It was really nice, well taken cared of, but I think it had like 40k miles on it. The price was the same as my GX, but I would have gotten more room, and a bigger more expensive vehicle to drive around. I went for the GX. I know it's brand new, and if anyone ever knows me, I'm really picky about the smallest detail when it comes to my automobiles. Heck, I could also have gotten a used GX with 2k miles on it, same price as mine, but with Nav, 3rd seat, and Lexus Link. I was very close to picking that but a few things made me pick my current basic GX. 1. Brand new. No splashes or mud on the undercarriage. 2. Color, the used was black and I wanted a light color. 3. Tires were crap on the used. It had the cheap Dunlops on it, while my GX has the Michelins. Sometimes it's really hard to decided. I had a hard time deciding on my 4Runner also. It was Saturday morning, we were decided to get a 4Runner that day. We've been fighting over which 2 units we would pick. Candidates were 1. Silver w/Stone (light gray) interior, fresh from the truck w/3 miles on odo 2. White w/Taupe Interior, dealer swap and has 192 miles on it. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=30398 That was a really hard choice to make. Two exact vehicles with the same options, but different situations. Mileage, color, name it. This is one thing I find difficult if i buy a slightly used vehicle. The color choice will never be met just to save a little money. ;) -

But the Pionneer standard system is good enough also. Lexus doesn't put cheap crap on their vehicles, even the cheapest vehicles. My RX300 could have possibly been the CHEAPEST Lexus back in 2000 and the stereo system was far better than any upgraded system in, let's say a Toyota or Honda. The Mark Levinson, IMO, is better in fine sounds in treble. The bass is about the same for the two. I don't know how much difference 3 more speakers in the Mark Levinson would make compared to the Pioneer but after hearing the two, you can't go wrong with either one. So if you end up with a GX w/o Nav/ML it's still going to be a good car experience. Think of it like you're trying to buy a new plasma TV. Yes when you're at the store, the bigger, more expensive ones sound and "look" better when it comes to picture quality but when you buy a plasma that's about the middle price range, you won't notice the difference from the more expensive ones to yours when you take it home and enjoy it, now would you? ;) -
What kind of dealership doesn't have a tire changing machine? I hope you were joking? Apparently my Toyota dealer. lol :) But that's ok. I'm taking his word for it and I'm taking note of the mileage when I leave the 4Runner at the dealer when the rim comes in. I have to be happy at least they are going to replace it. Unlike my GX rim, I barely got my Lexus dealer to just re-touch it, moreso replace it. But I don't think my 4Runner rim could be re-touched. It's sort of a chrome like rim, not totally chrome but it's not a painted alloy like the GX, so it seems like it's impossible to just repair it. :whistles: :)

Food for thought. A 2006 LS430, loaded at around $74 or $75k is now used at my dealer for $61k and it only has 10,000 miles. It's really hard to see under $40k for these kind of vehicles unless it's been badly beaten up or high mileage. -

First off, Welcome to the club! Unfortunately there isn't a GX available at $38k or less, that's an 06 or 05 with less than 25k miles. The 03s that have about 40-55k miles are going at around $35k-42k as I have noticed at the dealer. Secondly, the "must have" options really depend on you. If your a person who constantly need maps (realtor, delivery guy, etc.) Nav would be a nice option. Many here don't have a need for a third seat but only get it because you have to get it to get other options. So options depend on what you need. Now if you're considering a 2nd hand, you really don't have much of a choice as price, condition, and mileage are your top priority in choosing a 2nd hand. And lastly, ALL GX470s are full-time 4wd, ever since Day 1 of production. ;) -
Lesson learned here. Always, always check the vehicle after having it serviced. I'm glad I did that with the 5k mile oil change and rotation of my 4Runner. I got the Runner back with a big dent like scratch on one of my rims. looks like the guy didnt pay attention to that certain bolt and started hitting my rim, which dented and scratched it. I checked the other rims and NOT A SINGLE scratch, or anything even the part around the bolts. Well I had my service advisor quickly check it out. He went in to talk to his manager and I was crossing fingers that it wouldn't be another Fresno Lexus fight and hopefully they would pay for a re-touch or repair or something like what I had with my GX rim. He comes out telling me "So I need to get your tire size" and I was like, wtf to myself? They agreed to change the rim! That's service right there, better than the Lexus dealership service! Only setback is that it's a 2 week wait and i have to leave the car at the dealer for a day as they dont have the stuffs to remove the rubber from the old to the new rim. Next time you guys have any service or car washes done, CHECK THE VEHICLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR SCRATCH. ;)

Well that definitely needs to be looked at. SRS isnt something you can just shrug off. Although the SRS light could come from several different places, not just from the airbags. My friends E350 gives him a warning "SRS malfunction" and he takes it to the dealer to find out that the rotors are warped, and his brakes are a little messed up or something so that is where they think it is coming from. the SRS light could mean different things.

Does the ambilight really make a big difference? I went with the Panasonic because back then before I bought it Panasonic was on top of the rating list. So far so good. No problems with mine. Works well with my surround sound Panasonic system, that I only have to use two remotes (one for both Panasonic and TV, and one for Comcast).
