  1. I had a similiar prob. but only w/my drivers side.I took it to the dealer and they said since it was a safety issue even though I was out of warranty that they would replace it free. And they did.
  2. I had problems getting the alignment done at places other than the dealer because they were unfamiliar w/the set-up or were using outdated equipment. I would agree the thing to do is get it alligned and then take it back after a month and have it checked.I just had this done at the dealer and they checked it free of charge.
  3. i have a 2nd gen GS and I currently have the gole emblems on the trunk and want to change to chrome.I want to leave the word Lexus off and also the Gs400 I only want to put the center emblem back on. I have taken the emblems off a first gen. and it had holes in these spots .I dont think this is the case on the second gen. but would like to make sure first.Does anybody know whats under these emblems?
  4. I hate to disagree but when I put my l-tuned on I didnt want to pay the bucks for an allignment at the dealer and went to 3 shops and none could get it right I finally took it to the dealer and they got it first try. I didnt have an allignment for about 2 weeks and it screwed my tires all up.Once you start an uneven wear pattern even if you fix the allignment they will continue to wear the same.
  5. True. Im pretty happy w/my results but if you want no gap your going to have to slam that thing.
  6. I have a 98 Gs4 w/the stock chrome 17s and its been lowered using the l-tuned springs and struts 1.2-1.4 drop. I can email you a pic im not sure how to post one here.I agree if performance is what you want coilovers are the way to go.I chose this route because of pricing and performance it offers a great improvement over the stock but isnt going to be as capable as the coilovers. If you dont want to spend alot and are doing this for looks get springs if you want looks and performance get springs and struts if you want the best performer get the coilovers.Good Luck. P.S Did you check out the link I posted above?Theres a day left on them?
  7. Hello I also own a Gs4 and once u start modding you cant stop or I cant atleast.I read your article and then ran acroos these springs on ebay. You sound like you want to keep it cheap and this could be a good way.Hope it helps and Good luck.http://search.ebay.com/lexus-gs_W0QQfromZR8QQsorecordstoskipZ150QQsosortorderZ1QQsosortpropertyZ1
  8. Having the exhaust manifolds extrude honed I never thought of that. You relly think it would be woth it on a naturally aspirated? And also does anyone know who is doing this kind of work?
  9. I dont think these times mentioned are quite right. When I bought my 98 gs4 it was running a 14.6 stock. After adding the SRT intake,Borlas, and better tires Im running 14.1-14.2 consistantly.Im currently adding a Trd carrier,3;76supra ring and pinion,TC,and a valve body upgrade and Im confident when its done it will be a mid 13 sec car easily. It doesnt take a supercharger or turbo necessarily.
  10. Guy I agree totally.SKperformance it absolutely changes the throttle response I dont know about all make but my Gs4 it does.If im runnin down the road in fifth w/the snow mode on and stomp it it has half the power it usually would and thats in 5th or 4th or any gear for that matter.
  11. Are you sure this is all the snow mode does?Because when im driving down the road and maintaining a speed and push the button I lose alot of power and if say im running 60 in snow mode and push the gas it has alot less power than usual so surely it does more than just start in second.Does anybody know more about this system?
  12. Which combined with the trac control makes a petty good system.I live in the midwest and drive a Gs4 although I no longer drive it in the winter I used to and it was amazing I never had a prob.It handled better than most front wheel drives w/o trac. cont.I drove mine in the winter for 3 yrs. and never had an accident or got stuck.
  13. Can anyone help me with my above listed questions about this system? Thanks
  14. Of course the tires you choose will make a huge impact on winter driving but when I look at me center console there is a button that says snow and when you push it it really works. So maybe the VSC alone may not do it I do belive they had winter driving in mind when they designed this option.
  15. I think that the Lexus's trac. control is being underestimated.I have a 98 gs4 and do not drive in the snow any longer but when I first got it I did and it worked well.I live in northern Indiana and we have some pretty bad snow sometimes and my Gs never let me down.I think the Lexus has a superior trac control to a BMW or Benz. With my snow tires and trac. cont. Ive never had any probs with mine regardless of the weather.(snow or ice)You may have to slow down a little in this kind of weather but who doesnt?I had an incident where I had to drive my gs4 off into a cornfield to avoid an accident and there was prob.4-6 inches of snow in the field I flipped the switch to snow and drove her right out.Of course the Lexus is not the ideal vehicle for snow but I dont think it is getting the credit it deserves and if someone truely likes the car I think the trac. control system would make them like it even more.Good Luck with your purchase.
  16. My reason for saying so is that ive owned a first gen300 and now a 98 gs4 and theve both been great cars not a prob. with either. Also my roomate sells Audis and has owned several. He is always coming home w/horror stories.I agree w skperformance comp. on the electrical probs. Ive heard hundreds and alot w/the A6.My roomate owns a new A4 it has 15K now and hes had a few probs. nothing major but alot af small things that have kept the car at the dealer alot.My 98GS4 Has 98K and has been a great car.Ive done some mods and never had a prob.I take good care of her but I also push her very hard sometimes and shes never let me down yet.As for the snow I live in Indiana and I used to drive my car in the snow when I first got it but not in a few years since Ive done some Mods. Its not as driveable as it was stock. With the stock wheels and tires my gs4 was incredible in the snow better than most front wheel drives.Lexus has an amazing trac. control system and if it gets too bad flip the setting to snow and you can go anywhere.(slowly) If the audi as all-wheel than it will obviously handle better in the snow, but dont let the rear wheel and the horsepower decieve you it will also do very well.I hope Ive been a bit more helpful and good luck with your purchase.
  17. Hands down the Lexus all the way.Reliability,Styling,Build quality,This is a no brainer
  18. I have a 98 gs 400 w/the integrated phone. Mine had that crummy little antenna on the back window until it broke off.It had a tear when I bought the car and eventually fell off.I dont use the phone and hated the antenna anyway so Im gonna take it off.Surely this is a comm. prob. Has anyone taken this off before? All that is left is the peice that held it on the glass.Im going to leave the peice on the inside of the window intact. Also does this ant run through the glass leaving me w/ a hole?
  19. I think mine could have something to do w/ the amp in the trunk.I had the trunk tore down for awhile and had some loose stuff flying around in there and I think I might have damaged a wire or a connection. But for now its gone so it.
  20. gs400r how long have u been running the nos and how often.I also have a 98 gs 4 and have been considering nos but im not very familiar with the different systems.this set up your running sounds pretty good is it?and how much does that set up cost?I have the srt intake w/ecu is this the same piggyback your talking about?
  21. yes i found out my instincts were right and I do need a ring and pinion. All I have is a carrirer which is supposed to be more like a possi rearend.I cant wait to get this stuff in right now im tring to find a good deal on a 3;76 supra ring and pinion I think thats what its gonna take.Anyone know where to get the best deal on genuine toyota parts Ive tried everywhere I know and theyre steep.
  22. Thanks for all the help I think Ive figured it out .
