  1. Yeh there is a great thread on club lexus about the coolent temp. sensor and lexls.com has one on the T-stat. I don't remember the name of the thread on CL, but i did put together a word doc. comprised of both repairs. give me your email and I'll shoot it on over to ya
  2. IMO it's fine to use autozone non OEM, however some disagree. I just don't see how doubling the price for the same part will make a major diffrence. I just put in the coolent temp. sensor, but i haven't had time to drain coolent and put in the thermostat. I am however getting significantly better milage. I'm not exactly sure what kind of #'s yet b/c i havent filled my tank all the way up, But I cant watch the fuel gauge go down anymore. I also took 2.5 seconds off my 0-60 time. With this result i might just tak the thermostat back and get my $10 back. One more thing, If any of you guys put in a new temp. Sensor, make sure you have a really deep socket so you dont leave 3/4 inch of thread sticking out and wonder why there is a puddle of coolent in your driveway. lol :D Thermostat $10 Thermostat gasket $2 silicon sealer $4 coolent Temp. Sensor $30
  3. since there is no O2 sensor codes i went ahead and got the new thermostat and coolent temp sensor from Autozone and plan to put them in this weekend. I'll let you guys know of any improvements.
  4. i bought mine off the craigslist here in KC and love it. there is several here so im sure there will be some if not more in california.
  5. I took her to a dealer and had a tune up done and all the fluids flushed, however gas milage has been poor even before the service. I have heard that the coolent temp sensor or the thermostat may be to blame. any ideas?
  6. i just did a tune up and flushed all fluids. I heard it may be the thermostat or coolent temp sensor. which if any of these could cause it any advice? other than the gas milage and regular LS quarks I love my car. o crap sorry for the double post.
  7. i just did a tune up and flushed all fluids. I heard it may be the thermostat or coolent temp sensor. which if any of these could cause it any advice? other than the gas milage and regular LS quarks I love my car.
  8. If you all are getting in the 20's howcome i get 10 in the city on premium with my 93 179K just tuned up?? I have heard the thermostat could be causeing it or the coolent temp. sensor? which if either should i replace first? any advice would be great. THX
  9. HOLY S% i get 10 on the city and about 15 highway. What wrong with my car??
  10. What exactly does the extra pwr do to the trans/eng. is there any real gain??
  11. whats with all the spam that popped up when i clicked on the link??
  12. what is the stock rear-end gear ratio and compression for a 93 LS? The 09 LS460 has 11.8:1 compression whis is higher than a 507HP Mercades CLS63 AMG and the same as a 09 porsche 911 carrera S. :D WOW :D
  13. Dont know if this helps but in my 93 there is an "Auto tilt-away" button the stops the auto tilt without disabling the tilt/teliscope functions. Try pressing it(if you have one) :D
  14. i can take care of th O2 sensors my self, but what is involved with the intake cleaning?
  15. thx i know that they have never been replaced and my car has 178k so I'll do those pretty soon. should i go oem or should universals work, and what things should i look for (If any) in good O2 sensors. THX again
  16. I heard that if you have a bad O2 sensor you could be losing 40% of your fuel economy, and since Im getting about 8-10 w/ a little bit of a lead foot. I want to know if thats true. my car has 178K and has just been Tuned up and had all the fluids flushed. tires are filled up and oil is fresh, so the only thing i can think of is that O2 sensor. what do you guys think. THX, KILLERFATTY
  17. I recently got my 93 LS w/ 178k and had a VERY similar problem :o . when i leaned into the throttle a bit it would sputter and check engine light would breifly come on. I took it to a dealer and had them do routine mantinance. after they replaced the plugs and wires no more problem. the first thing you should do is check all your plugs and wires and replace them. that made all the diffrance in my car. good luck. :D
  18. thats kickass. must be air though which is a $$ pit to repair. IDC i still want it. :P
  19. thats not a bad deal. I'll start savin now. This sounds like on of the best mods to do to an LS. got to get mom's permission since im only 15 though. lol :D
  20. how much did this cost and how can i do it :D
  21. i had no clue but i should probly consider getting a new one for my 93 ls too. let me know how it works out. thx
  22. MAYBE! no pics/vids and a 4000Lbs. car running mid 10's with no major upgrades. cams and pistons would help, but the factory's best times were in the 16's and thats 16 years and god knows how many miles ago. the cost of all this would be rather godlike especially for an old lexus. but if you got time and money it could be possible. allthough it seems like he dosent know what he's talkin about and probly has more done to it than he's said. Who Knows??
  23. sounds like someone is playin with daddy's monney, high-pro cams sound like a great idea. how much did this all cost. OOO and where is the F'n pics/vid's lol :D
  24. wouldn't it have been better just to slow down :P lol
  25. Sounds like it has some pricey issues. I would say don't buy it, but it could be a good car. If you are inclined to buy it after the inspection, be ready to pay for the repairs and don't pay anywhere near what he is asking $4400. I would offer around $2300. If he insists on $4400 he is clearly a shady character. I agree totally, he is high on price. I got my 93 w/ 178K for $4k then put $1100 into it and have a great car. If the inspection comes out good than i would consider a $2500 to $3000 offer.
