  1. I was wondering what you guys thought of putting some H&R sport spring and some KYB GR2 struts. I want a firmer ride with a slightly more agressive feel. I know most of you will say it will kill the ride quality, but my shocks are next to dead so the ride quality sucks right now anyway. I really like the H&R springs, but I'm not yet sold on the shocks. Are the KYB's that good for what I'm looking for? I'm also looking at some daizin sway bar bushinings to help firm her up. Any thing else I should consider? THX for your thoughts.

  2. The Idle up valve that is mounted on the PS pump in all first gen cars has a vacum hose that runs to the block. When fluid leaks throught that valve it goes into the engine to be burned. the IACV is not connected to the PS system. The IACV can usually be cleand and seeing as it's almost a $1K is not normally replaced before it completely fails. The Idle up Valve on the PS pump is about $80 and can be replaced or bypassed.

  3. I recently had the same problem, but it was caused by the PS rack being replaced and it broke in in a few days. I don't think we have quite the same problem though, unless you recently replaced your rack & pinion. Sorry to not be of any help.

  4. All the parts are installed!! Except the trim. I had a local auto shop I trust do the rack, tie rod ends, and hose all for $500. There is one thing though. The steering is REALLY tight. I have to really turn the wheel hard to get it to turn. Is it just a break in thing? It seemed to loosen up a little by the time I got it home. Is that normal with a new rack or should I be worried?

  5. Okay, I did something I should NEVER have done. I sat in an RX-8 on a Mazda showroom floor.

That car SCREAMS fun, even when it's standing still!!!!!

    I MUST have one!

LOL I think I found the perfect fun car for you. An Ariel Atom :D Faster than a porsche Carrera GT and only $65K. I know I shure want one :D

  6. But when I have the money, I'm definitely going to compliment it with something else that revs my engine!! I'm surprised more people on this board don't do that! :D

I will hopefully be getting a motorcycle in early fall "ish". That should definetly rev me up to 13K-14K RPM lol. I can't wait. I think it will be the perfect complement to a fine large luxury sedan. :D

  7. I know lextreme.com has some coilovers. Do you mean just painted gold? If so I have a gold addition too :D I don't know which

wire(s) are for the cd changer, but that looks stock to me(minus the tape). I just changed out my headunit to an aftermarket one, and those look to me like they are the stock wires. Did you still have everything stock in the center consule? BTW welcome to the wonderful world of LOC

  8. I don't get overly excited about anything.

I got a slight grin when I found out that when you pull up to a stop light, the windshield wipers will automatically switch from ON to intermittent and then switch back to ON when you start moving again.

WOW that is pretty sweet. I will have to test that out next time it rains to see if my '93 will do that too.

  9. If you have not yet done your own oil change, I would suggest that you learn that skill and start changing it yourself.

It is really fairly easy. The hardest part is removing the under-engine cover. I have heard that the Jiffy lubes of the world

can easily strip your oil pan by cross-threading the drain plug. Remember who is working there and the turnover rate.

When I bought my 98 LS with 60k miles, I immediately switched to Mobil 1. Why? Well, it was mostly a matter of convenience.

I live in N. Indiana where the winters can be 5-6 months long and I really dont relish crawling under the car in a cold garage.

With synthetic, I dont sweat the mileage nearly as much as I would with dino. The synthetic gives you more room to play with mileage

before getting changed. You can plan the changes more freely with synthetic.

I used to change the oil myself. But it's pretty impossible to transport the used oil to a recycling center without getting it all over the interior/trunk.

I have never had a problem with transporting it to my nearest autoparts store. I put it in a screw top container, put it in a plastic sack, rap it in shop towels, then through it in my trunk and drive like miss Daisy. If I have a friend, I rap it up and make him hold it in the passanger seat. Never had a problem with transporting it. Best of luck

  10. Looks mean little as it is just copper and oxidizes easily but is very effective at heat transfer.

Is it an oem sensor you bought as i notice it is slightly different than the original.

I also cracked the socket taking the old one out. LOL

You should be able to notice the first time it gets to operating temp and you floor it.

BTW how many miles are on the car for the sensor you replaced?

Nope, it's not OEM. I thought $50 for the Lexus sensor was fair enough, but for some reason I had a problem with paying $12 for shipping. I read that the guy on ClubLexus who wrote up a tutorial used one from AutoZone with great results, so I got this one from Advance Auto. It was $30, and it looks and feels just as good as the Toyota one that came out of the car. I didn't even feel it crack. I guess it's from having to get the deep socket in to a tight squeeze, and the old one was in there pretty tight, so I had to use a little muscle. My '99 only has 179k miles.

I've already noticed that it seems to shift smoother and quicker. I'm going to put some highway miles on it this weekend to see if my mileage has gone up.

I got mine for $29.99 at autozone and took about 45min to replace on my 93 at 179K. Gas milage went back to normal, and throttle response and power increased.
