  1. Thanks a bunch for that link. I just cleaned the TB and put in fresh castrol edge 5W30. The idle is a bit better, but its still alittle bumpy. And no, there is not a CEL. I saw a ford ranger being seafoamed at oreilly today, and WHOOO it was smokin. If my idle dosnt get any better I will try seafoam. Again, Thanks for that great write up Jcrome.

  2. I have heard many things about Seafoam. Both good and bad. First off does it work? Does it have to be put in through the break booster or can it be added to the fuel tank? What is the best way and what results will I get? Will it screw with my Cats? Currently my idle is really rough, will it help?

  3. Not really, maybe a little more smoke because the fuel mixture is in warm up mode, but nothing too noticable other than using a quarter tank every 40 miles. Its cheap enough and easy enough to do that if you have unreasonably poor gas mileage, for no apparent reason, you should change it. It's paid for it's self at least 5 times in fuel savings. A slight throttle response change happened too.

  4. Yeah, thought that 10 miles to the gallon was weird, and maybe a fluke in my math. But after filling up two other times it concludes that i am actually getting a little over 10 miles. like 10.3 Haha. Does anyone have any information on what the problem would be or how to fix it?

I had the same problem. 10ish MPG. Replaced my coolent temp. sensor and walla. It wwent up by about 4MPG to around 14(I have a lead foot). :D IT's not a hard fix either. It takes about half an hour and the only special tool you need is a 3/4" deep socket. the part is only about $15 at autozone.

  5. Well, no one will have to know that is until you get ready to sell it with a salvage title. Still all in all not a bad deal to keep a good everyday driver on the road. Just don't expect much for it when you go to sell it. I'm not sure, but I think you wouldn't be able to trade it in at a dealership? Your best bet and perhaps the only way will be a private sale.

    Brett

It's not a salvage title once I prove that all the works was done and have the pics to back it up. And I never plan on selling her. She is taking me through college and until I start making enough to buy a nice , brand new LS460L :D (or equivalent by the time that happens).

I will call carson and get the trim ordered aspap. I think I'll end up saving about $50 by using them. And as soon as I get it put on, my baby is getting a new PS pump and the flickering dash lights will be fixed by Jim Walker. Then it's on to the Jcrome exhaust. :) lol.

  6. totalled? insurance companies are nothing but a bunch of scam artists!
I think if he went through the conventional methods of repair, it would've certainly cost $3000+ to repair.

Generally a car is considered totalled if the price of the repair is 3/5 or more of the value of the car.

My insurance said the value of my car was $4700, but called it totalled at 75% of that. They are TOTAL scam artists :P .

The conventional estamit was nearly $4700 with all new parts and at an extremely high-end body shop. I think I got pretty lucky with my outcome, even though I might still need some minor susspinsion work. My alignement is slightly off again and I just had it alligned 2.5 weeks ago. Im thinking I will need new tie rod ends.

  7. I'm probably goin to have to buy that trim from the dealer, but considering the fact that it comes pre-painted and with all the new clips and attachments, it's not too bad of deal at $250. My insurance rates arn't goin up that much, and once I can prove all the work is done the insurance will let me have full coverage back even though they called it totalled. She will be getting washed and waxed this weekend, and hopefully the trim will get ordered too. :D

  8. YEH I finally got my car fixed. Well Almost as you can see I am still missing a trim piece. I figure I came out pretty well too. My insurance called it totalled, but I bought it back and still got just over $3K from them. Here is the best part. A new door shell and fender from lexus is $1500. I got both of mine for $200 total. My body guy did all the painting and labor for $795 (plus $20 tip). So I came out with just about $2K in my pocket. Well in my LS's pocket that is. After I get that little piece of trim, $250 from the stealer, She needs the PS pump and houses done, plus an alternator and new battery. A break upgrade might be in the near future too. Here is the before and after pics.

  9. OMG I love the wheels dude. SO clean.

Here are some springs and stuff..

    http://luxurymods.com/index.asp?PageAction...mp;Category=209

I know that the Tanabe DF line is very soft and comfortable. Sounds like the NF, or "Normal Feeling" springs are very very close to stock.

Maybe 1" is all you need? and for only $215 who's complaining :)

Sorry no pics, but I have heard good things about the tanabe springs ( http://luxurymods.com/index.asp?PageAction...mp;Category=209 ). They don't lower too much and shouldn't completey kill the ride quality. I don't Think I would ever try to cut the springs on an LS. Hope that helps.

I guess graet minds think alike. Look at the time stamp on these two posts. What are the chances of the same link being posted twice in less than a minute?

  10. I would love to drop it just a bit, I would love to have the rims totally fill the wheel well but I dont have any idea how to do it and dont want to sacrifice the soft ride. I can remember cutting springs on my old mustang, it felt like I was driving an old farm truck but it was low. Do they make springs for this car that will drop it a bit or what ?

Anyone know anyone who has done it on a 430 ? Pics would be fantastic.

  11. I'm glad I live in Miami, I complain when it's 50.

Give me the tropics any time.

I was thinking about going to University of Miami any reviews? Hows there engineering school.

If you're looking into going into engineering, I would recommend UND in grand forks, I'm going there this fall for Aviation, but its also a great school for engineering.

Thanks, I will. How is the tuition there? I'm split right now between engineering and meteorology. I always wanted to fly F-18's for the navy, but I don't Think thats going to happen.
