  1. Recall on the Power Steering Link. I just had mine done. 9LC
  2. You need to be specific. I don't have kids, so I don't have little people with greasy hands wiping them on the seats. You might wanna see if a food or other compound was dropped somewhere. Between the seats maybe? Trunk scents also affect cabin smell. Maguire's Odor Eliminator will get rid of organic smells. Using Lexol Leather Cleaner and Conditioner will clear the leather of non-normal oils and give you the old time leather smell.
  3. Got my GS430 back today. I also smelled gasoline after the drive....only 2 campaigns were done though. I don't think they did the fuel one....hopefully it goes away soon.
  4. I had mine done @ Westminster, CA. Took 1 week, because a lot of people brought in their cars. I also got an oil change and asked for some inspection work so I paid 199 in the end, but I got a loaner for 1 week. They did good job - replaced the rear calipers, that powersteering link, did some warrenty work and replaced a side panel that developed a bubble, washed and vacuumed the car. They did a good job. A+ for them. The car handles much much better. The only complaint I have is continued braking noise from the rear brakes, but I have a lot of pad left, so I'll just put up with it. Not my problem really, just a problem for the people crossing the street infront of me scared out of their minds over the Banshee Lexus coming towards them. 2006 GS430 - yes it covers the GS430. 9LB and 9LC. These service campaigns are listed in the Service Campaign thread. Dunno why this thread is here.
  5. On a sandrail, makes sense. On a Lexus, I agree, makes no sense. OEM! Absolutely no reason to change! I use a K&N now in my Lexus. Not really noticeable the difference. Re-oiling sounds like a pain and problematic, so I'll probably make my next filter OEM
  6. That's interesting that the referenced advertisement shows a black, or blue sapphire pearl, car with tan iinterior... but the description says black on black.... hum..bait and switch? Naw, just gotta see the car in person. They're just stupid sometimes.
  7. It's very easy to remove. I didn't need the manual. The only thing you need to figure out is how to reinsert those plastic pins/fasteners after you take them out. Took me a while to figure that one out.
  8. Don't pay 1 cent over 30k for one. http://www.autorevolution.com/dealers1/nas...efby=dealersite
  9. So, I met someone who is connected to one of the co-owners of Newport Lexus. I've been informed that they haven't bought new inventory in 6months the last time they were updated. Their Lexus customer satisfaction numbers are also low.
  10. You're not missing much. A couple of months back, I took my GS430 to them for warranty service. 1.) They refused warranty service at 1st, and after 3 days of fighting back and forth and a threat about court action, we came to a compromise and had the MOP fixed as long as I paid them for the 30k mileage service. 2.)Got the car back and they left the trunk button/connection disconnected so the trunk wouldn't open, and they left scratches all over the seats. Car wasn't washed or really serviced much more than normal. After they repaired some of the damage they caused, I'm starting to wonder about Lexus service in general. Bad service from Newport Beach and Longo. Awesome service from Westminster Lexus and I will probably return there from now on.
  11. With current hybrid battery technology, the battery does not hold the same charge in the winter as it does in the summer.
  12. Free @ COSTCO. Nitrogen air is good, but don't go out of your way for it.
  13. If I didn't already have a Nav, I would setup a tomtom. My friend has one in his car and it can change voices. He uses Borat - it's awesome
  14. I got it too. From what I've been reading, CIBA is ok insurance. They try to stiff you though if the cost is too high, but just take them to court. Keep good records of all maintenance. If you go to your local Lexus dealer, they can print you out a form that shows regular service, if the car had it. My car was a lease car before, so it had pretty regular maintenance. 32k for a Lexus dealer certified GS430 is an awesome deal - the highest end Honda Accord costs just as much and doesn't have the backup camera, the mark levinson, and all that jazz. If you suspect anything wrong with the car that warranty would cover, don't even attempt to fix it. Take to a dealership and use warranty. If they try to welch on you, raise hell - I had to. Question for you guys-Im shopping for a warranty right now and the lexus dealer is telling me its a lexus warranty just like a CPO...the "Platnium" 3 yr 100k total mile deal...Mine was bought from a private owner so its not a cpo...I want to essentialy buy the same level of a "CPO" warranty.. Is the insurance through "CIBA" or TOYOTA? Dealer is not saying anything about CIBA. He said lexus/toyota everytime...Just dont want to get screwed here.. Get it on paper, but I'm sure that extended warranty is aftermarket. Remember that dealers will try every tactics possible to screw you out of the most amount of money on things like this. Don't pay over a grand.
  15. Really? I got mine and drove it off within 30 minutes of buying it and doing all the paperwork.
  16. I change every 5k miles, but I got to autozone and pick up fully synthetic Mobile One extended performance oil and Mobile One extended performance filter. There isn't a set oil that Lexus uses. Westminster Lexus told me they use Mobile One full synthetic. Longo Lexus in El Monte, CA, told me they use regular oil (and they wanted to charge $60) for this change - never let them touch your Lexus. What kind of self-respecting Lexus dealership uses non-synthetic?

  18. Email from Lexus: "We found the problem with the trunk, the valet button was disconnect when we remove the glove box to repair the blower box. We had reconnected the trunk cancel button, and we are currently repairing the scratch on the seat. The vehicle should be completed in an hour." So, I'll head back soon. Trunk works, that vent works, and leather is repaired. I'm not calling this a victory, but I'm not calling this a loss either. It was a compromise. For $380, they did the 30k service and fixed my vent. Then they fixed the trunk and scratches issue they created. I had a Lexus RX350 for 1 week though, and I took it to Blackstar Canyon and some off roading fun. Clean it up and returned it good as new. All in all, I'm happy I fought this issue tooth and nail. Lexus is back in my good graces. Noticed big differences between the dealers though: 1.) Newport Beach Lexus is staffed by a bunch of wankers. Prices are high on their merchandise and their selection of stuff is low. I thought this place was supposed to be their new and improved super dealership? Not impressed. A bit insulted. Will not give these guys another red cent. 2.) Westminster Lexus is in a crappy area, but top notch service and hospitality. Any work I need done from now on goes on here. Loaner cars have a 100 mile limit. 3.) Longo Lexus is decent. Somewhere in between Newport Beach and Westminster interms of quality. I think they have the best selection of merchandise with the best prices. All the stuff that I wanted for my Lexus but couldn't find were all at their shop here. Their service seemed lacking, but I'm very glad we were able to compromise and haggle. I'm sure they were annoyed with me, but they should have done things right the 1st time. I don't even mind that they didn't wash my car - I know they wanted me outta there and I wouldn't have trusted them not to scratch up the car. I need to check their workmanship over the next few days. Make sure the fluid levels are correct. It does look like they fixed the vents and rotated the tires. Surprised that they would put up such a fight with me, but that's how things get done. I would go back here to buy merchandise. Loaner cars have no mileage limits - very nice.

  20. Alright I go to pick up my car, and the driver's seat has scratches on the backrest. Possible from keys being worn on their backsides. Scratched up my leather. The big thing is the electronic trunk release no longer works. Not from the button inside the car, from my keys, or from the button on the trunk. They gave me back my loaner and....... ugh.
  21. Thanks. That is a helpful suggestion I will try. Do you know if the light has to remain on for the computer to give a read out of the problem? Also wonder why the oxygen sensor would be an issue when the car is driven in heavy rain. Will check it out. Thanks again. O2 sensor problems, even minor ones can have the weirdest effects on an engine. Always put in an OEM O2 sensor. Just about anything else on a Japanese car can be aftermarket. I've learned the hard way that OEM O2 filter is always the way to go.
  22. I have a 2006 GS430. No rattles or noise. The only "cheap plastic" noise I get is from the center storage box thing, but I can tolerate that no prob. Dealer just too my whole dash apart and put it back together. Hope it doesn't start up any weird noises.
