it is not this problem.. the entire mirror motor is rotating..this tsb is for the mirror angling down during reverse but not coming back up when in drive..it works fine for that stufff. However , thank you very much as this TSB does answer how to get mirror off...dealer claimed they can not come off with out breaking the mirror..welll maybe i should be working there because i read these instructions and in about 2 minutes had mirror off unbroken. Does anyone have pride in knowing their job any more???? I hate auto repair!!!!

I have posted earlier this week re: a driver side mirror issue on a 2003 lx470 I was having. The one tip re: jiggling until it stopped seemed to work best. But still have to do every time i start car. Took to dealer and was told that essentially that mirror can never be fixed the answer is new mirror assembly. Which he would graciously sell me for $775 + labor. I declined and called another dealer who had same part for $140 less. So i will call a few more as well. Anyone have recommendations or warning about online OEM parts guys for Lexus?

Well apparently according to dealer no repair possible. He said they rarely can reapir anything on these mirrors. So the entire mirror assembly has to be replaced. All for a grand ol' price of $775 for the part!!!!! I told them i will find it somewhere else. This will be my last trip to Lexus service. Had vowed to never go back after $90 oil change last time but thought there might be some benefit to lexus knowledge on this part. As for fuse option the fuse controls radio and defroster as well according to them. So to stop spinning I will be taking door apart to disconnect mirror rather then have frosted windows and silence in the winter!!!

will do have appointment this Friday to have them look at it. Hopefully Mr. Germain does not have a boat or house payemnt due. I know the mirror itself cost around $600 because i have had it replaced after it got damaged. And that was with me installinng!

I have a 2003 LX470 in the past fews days the drivers side mirror has started acting up. When i start i hear a motor turning as if it is trying to rotate mirror out. Even though it is already in the correct position. It continues to try to turn and just keeps clicking with mirror in correct position. Originally i could fold mirror in via the switch and then extend and it would seemingly stop. Today however the motor continues to keep turning and mirror clicks. The switch still works to fold them in but will keep motor running when i try to re-extend. It is as if a stop on the plate mirror rotates on is gone or not being recoiginzed. It never rotates it past the correct angle but motor just keeps running. I can adjust mirror no problem with switch set to left but motor keeps running. Motor runs even if switch is ni the middle position. Any thoughts.
