  1. My point is alcohol is a solvent, and is corrosive to most fuel systems. So if someone drives an 06-08 Lexus and has NEVER put ethanol fuel in their car, and never will, one would not need to worry about a corrosion problem. I do not see how in the hell they can make even a percentage of ethanol manditory with only a small percentage of cars around that are "safe" running on it. Here in Texas I have never even seen a carrier with ethanol fuel. Not to mention that no where in the manual does it state you can even put ethanol fuel in my IS350. And like I said, just give it time, we will most likely be seeing more problems in the future with this ethanol fuel. And it's not ONLY Lexus having problems..... http://www2.highlandstoday.com/content/200...roblem-ethanol/
  2. I don't think they should call it a "recall" because it's not Toyota's fault for the ethanol fuel messing up their fuel systems. Ethanol fuel has recently been shown to clog up and destroy lawn mower type engines. I think whoever still has been putting ethanol fuel in their car or truck will get what is coming. They tried to make this new fuel work with existing engines which was a bad idea. This new ethanol fuel has only been around for a few years and look at all the problems already. I promise there will be more automakers that will start seeing problems with engines and fuel systems related to the use of ethanol fuel. Just wait.
  3. Sorry no, my 350 seems to have MORE than enough power. If she wants more, trade it in for an IS-F
  4. I wouldn't pride yourself if after seeing the entire plate you can't figure it out. At the hospital there are no signs as you proclaim to think, it is abbreviated (o pos) or (o neg). (Look up a picture of a unit of blood) And I promise if you are close enough behind me to read my plate, you can see the blood donor line on the bottom. A small thumbnail is inaccurate. And I have no idea why, even if someone DID drive a piece of *BLEEP*, why they would like to say so. That's just stupid. Regardless I did not get it just to be a "vane" plate. It's a very important thing you can do to help those who need it. It's FREE to donate and makes you feel good. God forbid you or your children need a blood transfusion and they are in short supply and you can't receive any. I'm just trying to send a message so don't read into it too much about what each letter means. And I’m glad it confused you, at least if you saw me on the road, you would remember it. And remember me smokin your !Removed! in your 250.
  5. Blood type ??? Blood type ??? Blood Donor limited edition plates, too! Yeah my blood type is O positive so that's why I did that. I"m in the medical field so it fits.......I'm glad I'm not A Positive, then it would REALLY mean, A POS. (A peice of *BLEEP*)
  6. They can memorize all they want...I would only worry about that if I had something to hide...as if I were a crack dealer. It wasn't quite $200.
  7. There is a TSB for that......... TSIB EL013-06 NAVIGATION SYSTEM SHOWS VEHICLE IN WRONG LOCATION Some customers may experience a condition with their navigation system, where the vehicle icon is intermittently shown on the map in the wrong location. A special DVD map disc with a revised operating system has been developed to remedy this condition.
  8. Freaking awesome!! I would now consider getting this truck.........if only I could afford it!!
  9. Nice....worth more than the house?
  10. I think that noise is normal. Every 2nd gen IS I have seen makes a wierd click noise from like the fan belt or something. But unless I hear it I wouldn't know if that is the "rattle" you hear.
  11. Honestly just get a new one then. And you still may be able to find some 08's on the lot they want to get rid of. I love everything about my 09 IS350 except for some of the navigation things are unavailable while the car is in motion.
  12. Thank you! I do not think I have ever seen another woodland pearl one around here where I live. I get alot of compliments and people usually would not know it is 11 years old! Unless they really know their cars.
  13. Just put gas in her and drive slow on the ice!! Maybe just bring some snow chains for an emergency.
  14. They will fit. I did the exact opposite of what you want. I had the 16" wheels and I upgraded to the 18". And also I think as long as whoever puts your new 16" wheels and tires on knows you have TPMS, they will re-install the part into the stem of the tire. The part where you fill up with air. When you get new tires they discard these anyway and replace with new ones. At least this is how they do it at discount tire. Supposedly they wear out anyway and are cheap. Then just fill the new tires up with the right amout of air and reset your pressure monitoring system. :D Check it!! 98 with 06-07 18" wheels.
  15. Not that anyone cares but I found out why my truck is rattleing.......there is a metal pin that holds tension to the brake pads as you can see in the picture below. Well my truck for some reason my truck is missing these pins. So the noise I was hearing was the break pads hitting against the calipers. Either the last brake job I had the mechanic did not reinstall them OR he said they can get so worn that they break and fall out. Any thoughts? I had them order the pins so we will see in a few days!!
  16. For my 98 LX470. The weather here has been getting more tolerable and I have been riding with the windows down. Now I can hear a metallic rattle noise coming from the front drivers side wheel. I have no idea how long this has been happening as I can only hear it with the window down. It only happens when going over bumps or sections of the road where concrete meets each other. Obviously something is loose? I am bringing it to my mechanic tomorrow and I would like to have some suggestions if anyone has any on what this might be? Had the brakes redone back in October.
  17. That's waaaaaaaaaaaay cheap. Unless there is something majorly wrong with it, that's steal!! Even in POOR CONDITION Kelly Blue Book lists the 99 LX private party value for about 8k. And the suspension parts on the LX are the most expensive to fix....so if he's gotten some work done on those parts already you are probably good to go! If you don't buy it I will!!
  18. Now don't laugh but I was wondering if anyone has done this, or even knows if it is possible. Because the alarm system of Lexus’s is just the horn.....is it possible to get the alarm siren from a BMW installed? Like the clip below, for some reason I am fascinated with the sound.
  19. That recently happened to me with a less than 6 month old new Lexus battery....the truck would turn over for about 2 seconds and then everything would go dead. Total electrical failure. Not sure if this is exactally what is happening with you. So I am suggesting that the new battery you got is bad? It might not be the problem but it is worth a try. I did not think a new battery would be crap.....but it was! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...trical+failture
  20. Yes sir! Ebay motors for $700. Beats the dealer quote of over $2500 and not even chromed!
  21. So does Lexus make a leather bra for the IS? I cannot find it on the website.
  22. I have a 98 LX470 and had an aftermarket Pioneer navigation installed at a local audio shop. It can be done but.....they do not make a kit for navs for the LX so you or the audio shop will have to make one for you. It is complicated because the top corners of the radio housing are curved. They quoted me 100 dollars to install before realizing what they were getting into.....it took them 2 days but they finally got it! But I still got it for 130!! When my partner gets home I will snap some pics of it so you can see the final results.
  23. I was looking into the clear bra thing for my IS and have seen them being sold on ebay cut already for the IS for like $160. Question is....how easy would it to be if I do it myself? Anyone ever tried? I want to get it done before I get rock chips I hear everyone talking about. Has anyone done it at the dealership? I would imagine they charge an arm and a leg. And does Lexus even offer a regular leather bra for the IS?
  24. Looks great with the red calipers.
