    Question, How did you get to this point? I opened the hood to my 97 to see what you are talking about and couldn't find it anywhere. I see the rubber tube connecting the air filter box to a the injector (I am not very automobile literate) but do not see what you have in the pic. Can you provice step by step instructions for this procedure starting from the beginning for those who haven't done this before?

    If you have a receipt I would definately jump all over that dealership. But it also shows how good those spark plugs are to have survived for so long. I still have my original spark plugs in my 97 and I just hit 161000 miles.

    So what does that mean? Is it ok? It has been working fine ever since. What should I do?

    Friday afternoon, I was driving from work when I happened to look at the outside temp. It was about 93 degrees outside and I had the A/C on. It was nice and cool in the car but I noticed that the A/C light was blinking. What does this mean? Should I be concerned? It only happened once and I haven't seen it again.

    I painted mycalipers silver with no problem. The brakes rubbed the excess paint off of the disk surface. I would just be very precise when spraying so you only spray the caliper and nothing else. Getting a little spray on the rotor surface will not do any harm. I would definately put more than 1 coat on there because break dust cleaner tends to take the paint away. I learned the hard way.

    I noticed the same problem with my seat heaters but never checked the resistance at the connection points under the seat. I did take the switches out of the console and noticed that there are 2 adjustments (pots) on the switch. What are these adjustments for? Do they increase the heat level to the seats?

    150,000 miles and still cranking! And I still haven't had the time to change the spark plugs and wires yet.

    Would that fix the problem if the clunking noise was happening during idle? I notice that the clunking noise was heard every time I start the car after it sits for a while. I opened up the hood and it sounds like it is coming from the passenger side near the firewall. Nothing I can see just looking at the parts on top. Just curious!

    I am going to need to replace 2 lug nuts and screws on my 97 ES300. I wanted to know what is the right size to order. I found a few people selling them on ebay but I wanted to make sure I order the correct thing. I called the dealership and the lug nuts are $12.00 each. I think that is crazy. There are some on ebay for $36 for all 20. Here is a link to the ones I am looking at. lexus lug nuts

    Does anyone know of a kit that changes the fog light lenses to appear clear instead of the standard lenses that have the vertical rippled look? Or is there any way the clear lenses of the 00-01 models can be used in place of the ones on a 97. I just purchased some piaa ion crystal bulbs and want the yellow effect to look clearer.

    How old are the spark plugs? My car is doing the same thing. I purchased new plugs and wires but haven't changed them yet. My car is a 97 with 150k on the original spark plugs. I know, I need to change them soon but the car does this every once and a while and then just works for a long time. I will eventually change them by summer.

    My heated seats in my 97 are not hot at all. I can just notice them getting warm but that's it. 2 years ago before the factory warranty went up, I had the heating elements replaced but the seats don't get hot enough to notice I have Heated Seats. Is this common with all 97-99 models or does my car just have issues.

    I just recently purchased spark plug wires for my 97' for $79 from lexus-parts.com. I originally thought it was for a set of 2 wires but I learned that only 1 set of 3 is needed because of the coil over design? I am not very technical about cars but how does this design work? I am just curious!!

    I have a similar sound from my 97ES. I have noticed it for a while but have ignored it. The sound seems to come from behind the glove compartment. I notice it when I start the car too.

    I agree with sunman. The VVTI engine wasn't available on the 97 ES. I do know that the 97 has 200hp and the VVTI addition increased it to 210hp. I do think that the ES could use a bit more horsepower but for $3 large, it isn't worth it.

    Lets not mention the fact that the ES is a front wheel drive car and the GS is a rear wheel drive car. Wheels are made specifically for that purpose.

    You all are a great help. I was getting upset for having to spend another $84 bucks on the wires again. I have NGK iridiums and the new plug wires. I will be getting them installed this weekend. Thank you all for your input.

    If i am changing the wires, do I need to replace the coils as well?
