  1. Two years ago, I got mine for $15 from Locksmith but the key didn't work all the time so I had to go back to Lexus dealer. (97 ES300) Just a remind for someone who hase only one key left ( I think you already know, Camlex ): Always have an extra key. Even a Lexus dealer need a programed key to program your new key.
  2. Thanks. I have 2 questions before starting the job in my 99 ES300: 1. After using the Craftman Bolt-out, will the screws still useable or I need new screws? 2. If I have to replace the screws or want to use bolts to make future job more easily, how can I find the correct size? Thank you!
  3. I tried this way and the problem came back. Replaced the strut mounts, the noise never come back for 3 years.
  4. Sorry. I was so busy that I didn't visit the forum for a long time. Just want to post some of my experience about my cold start problem. -- My Problems: In cold start, the engine was so noisy. The car jerk when shifting from R to D. -- What I Have Done but didn't help: Flushed the engine with Karosen; tried different brand of engine oil; used Toyota oil filter; used Seaform through throttle body, gas tank and engine oil; install new dog mount. -- My Lexus dealer said: There was nothing wrong after one hour checking and give an check engine light on (more about this later) -- My Experience: One day, I pick up a K&N filter to see how good it is. The problem almost gone: Less noisy in cold start. No more jerking when shift from R to D. I am not sure the new filter help me but after one NY winter, the problems didn't come back. -- Some more experience with a Lexus deler in NY state: When they gave me back my car, the check engine light turned on when I was on the way home. When I came back, they told me that they can reset to turn off the light but my Cartalic converter was gone so the light would come back very soon. They gave me a quote for about $3,000 to get it fixed. One year later, my car still running without any check engine light!!! Hope my experience can help some one.
  5. Last year, I used cheap ceramic pads and cheap rotors. The rotors gone within a year. I am not sure about the expensive ceramic pads with cheap rotors. Good luck!
  6. I live in NY. The Michelin Pilot Exaltos are ok for both winter and summer but they are not as quiet as the cheap Michelin Symmetry from Walmart. Good luck.
  7. Hi, I read in here that one of the way to remove the rotor is using two nuts to force to rotors out of the hups. Can you tell me what seze of those nuts, please! Also, where can we buy nut for Japanese cars? At my local auto part stores, they only sell nut in US standard size. Thanks,
  8. I bought a used 99 ES300 two years ago. My problem is the clinking noise from the front struts. Replace the strut mounts - no more noise. My car reachs 135k now. I still love it. Remember: 100k service at Lexus dealer is very very expensive. Good luck!
  9. Hi, If I want to use a bigger oil filter, then how to figure out the right size for my car? which one is good for a 99 ES300? Thanks,
  10. Hi, I have a 99 ES300. Can I have the price for all 4 struts + ship to NY, please! Thanks,
  11. - What is "cold start sensor?" I haven't heard people in this forum talked about it. - I have the same problem and I can't fix it. Someone here said it is normal. Pay $100 for Lexus dealer - They said the same thing. I hope it help.
  12. Hi, I just replace my 2 front strut mounts. When working on the front suspensions, I checked my struts: There is no leak. The ride still OK. The only problem is when press the struts all the way down ( compress it. ) It takes a long time, a bout a minute, for the strut return to it normal position. Is that indicate that the struts need to replaced? The ride still OK now ( or I get used to it? ) but if it indicate that the struts are worn out, replace it now will save me another alignment cost. Thaks,
  13. Hi, To fix the famous noise in my 99 ES, I order the parts from a well recomended website here. I ordered 2 front strut mounts with bearings, but I received only the mounts, not the bearings. From your experience, do we need to change the bearings when you replace your strut mounts? Thanks, Included is the picture of the strut mount with its bearing.
  14. It looks very nice!!!! So you have the answers. Can you post how the ride is, please!
  15. Hi, Are these following parts the same between Camry V6 and ES300? - Strut mounts. - Struts. - Rotors. - Brake pads. - Engine mounts. One example: The fornt strut mount: 52$ for Camry V6; 62$ for ES300. Are they the same? If they are, we can save some $$. Do you know any parts which are the same b/w them so that we all can save some $$? Thank you,
