  1. I found this in another forum regarding an owner of the same year, make, and model as yours and with the same symptoms:
  2. Did you already research aftermarket brake pads? Maybe some are not nearly as expensive as OEM from the dealership.
  3. Can you remove a spark plug to see if it's gas-soaked? That may indicate an ignition problem. Does your engine have separate ignition coils or one? Mechanics would also do a pressure test of the fuel line to verify whether the pump is good.
  4. Have you perused these videos? Replace a Fuse: 2004-2009 Lexus RX400h Base 3.3L V6 (carcarekiosk.com)

  6. Wow! That's a good find. Older vehicle parts can certainly be hard to find unless the vehicle is a Corvette, Camaro, or Mustang. Online Lexus OEM parts can save you some money compared to local dealerships. I guess it won't hurt to ask if the online dealership can ship to Canada.
  7. Are you referring to OEM parts? Shop 1993 Lexus GS300 Parts and Accessories Online Maybe you can have them shipped to a post office box in the states and then pick them up if shipment to Canada is not possible.
  8. Have you tried the valet parking trunk lock inside the glove box? Sometimes that will reset to the locked position.
  9. With that many miles on the odometer, I wouldn't worry too much about getting the absolute best. As long as it has a name brand, the correct certification label, and viscosity, you should be good to go. I research, then buy online. With the cost of gas these days, my Amazon Prime membership really comes in handy.

  11. Usually a problem with the calipers is evidenced by looking at the pads. For example, if one pad is more worn that the other or one side of the pad is more worn, the caliper slider pins may be sticking.
  12. This procedure may apply, or maybe it's for newer Lexus vehicles, only. You can always take a look. See time segment starting at 2:56 in video.
  13. That's great news, Steve! Our valve cover gaskets were doing the same, a couple of years ago so I had them replaced. How many miles are on your odometer? I'm curious because if our RX has fewer miles than your car, I'll have a good idea if the same scenario happens to our vehicle. We've never had that happen to us at 133,000 miles.
  14. If you read these posts, you'll see that the fob battery is typically the problem. Are you sure the key fob battery is good? There should be a resetting sequence in your owner's manual. Have you tried that? Driver's side door won't unlock - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion
  15. Perhaps this will help: where is the 2008 lexus gx470 ecu location? - Bing images
  16. Did any mechanic inspect the tone wheel? This article shows what they look like. Lexus RX300 ABS kicks in/antilock brake activation when not needed (carspecmn.com)
  17. It looks good except for the damage. 😏 But really, you should replace the alternator before selling. Otherwise, you'll have to try to find a do-it-yourselfer or mechanic to buy the car, and that'll limit the pool of potential buyers.
  18. My guess is that it needs to be updated with a new DVD. When was the last time it was updated?
  19. So in 14 years, this is the only issue you've had? Believe me if you had a BME X5 all these years, you'd have spent thousands of pounds on repairs. Then you'd be considered "unlucky". 😏
  20. Here's one possible issue. See post #9 with photo. is250 Convertible roof will not close - Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club - Lexus Owners Club
  21. This Lexus mechanic says there are two heated oxygen sensors and two air/fuel sensors. I have a 2002 Lexus ES300 and I got a bad O2 sensor code (Check Engine Light is on). Is there a way to know which O2 (justanswer.com) But I suggest calling a dealership's parts department person to verify.
  22. This is interesting: Does the battery on a 2012 Lexus rx350 need to be changed... (yourmechanic.com)
  23. One option is to pick out a system that you know will fit perfectly and have all the right connectors: Outfit My Car - Find Car Audio/Video Gear that Fits Your Vehicle at Crutchfield! And since Crutchfield supplies excellent disassembly and installation procedures, almost anyone can install everything. I've installed a few Crutchfield setups over the many years and this company takes the guesswork out of the complete job. I'm curious why you don't want a soft top like the LC500 or LC500h convertibles. I have a Mazda MX5 PRHT but it is probably a bit too small for your liking. 😏
  24. You may also consider an Auto-Electric shop. These types of shops solve electrical problems that dealerships often cannot. And since they are experts, the time they spend to figure out the problem should be less.
