There ya go lol.

Thats your opinion. The majority of manufacturers and owners don't share it. Thats why this system continues to be installed on all sorts of manufacturer's vehicles and consumers continue to purchase cars with it. My opinion is if you take the time to learn how to drive the car properly, its fine (as you have to with any vehicle, they're all different).

And I will never buy another VW because of my Mother's problems with hers, including three new engines, a new gas tank and enough little problems to make his ML look like a perfect car all in 30,000 miles. VW was unwilling to help and unimpressed. Never again. The thought of these yokels selling cars as expensive as the Tauoreg and the Phaeton sickens me. And the RX330 has more power, and the ML isn't a chick car? ;) All SUVs here are primarily driven by women. See, theres another view and another horror story from other manufacturers everywhere. You'll find far more positive experiences here than negative on the RX. And as I said, the hubub over these transmission oddities will pass just like they did on the ES forum. There for a few months it was "Lets kill Lexus!" then the couple people with problems left with frustration and it hasn't been mentioned since.

Whenever I'm in the snow or its nasty out, I shut the VSC off because I feel more secure being in complete control myself.

Excellent! I'll find out right now ;)

wwest is right, 10k is the severe maintenance schedule and theres no point in following that. I'd change the oil, thats all and wait for 15k. Dealers will ALWAYS use the severe maintenance schedule simply because they make way more money. You can have it done if it makes you feel better for sure. Its listed in the owners manual suppliment. Lexus will charge you $400-$600 for this.

I'd like to see it lol

They broke the law, innocent people were hurt, they belong in jail. It doesnt matter how nice they are, they're criminals and they have to pay for what they did. There are plenty of legal car tracks ESPECIALLY in Atlanta ( I can name probably 5 and I live 600 miles away and have never even been there) where they can drive whatever speed they want. Personally I dont think people that are caught doing things like that should ever be allowed behind the wheel of a car again, after they get out of prison, if they ever make it out of prison. How would you feel if that were your family, dead because some kid was too bored with Play Station and had to kill them to get a thrill? You'd consider commiting murder yourself. Next time maybe they'll think about it. Thats the whole point ;)

I dont see how our piddly forum info like location and interests and such would get you arrested. I mean, just say "Atlanta" (its a big city) and your hobbies? Don't get it. Its probably not the profile info that got him in trouble it was the IP address. Thats why we're so careful on here that nobody is allowed to even mention anything illegal. Something like the HID lights isn't a big deal, but talking about running an illegal road course would definately fit the bill. Sounds like your friend belongs behind bars anyways. If the police contacted us with a warrant or we were contacted with a subpena we'd have to fork over the records just like anyone else. The police probably got a warrant to see the member's IP address, called the ISP and found out who he was, then used what he had been posting as evidence. Your IP address is stored every time you make a post. No way to change that unless you find some way to manipulate it. I doubt it had anything to do with the profile information that would be hearsay and would never hold up in court. The IP address confirmed by his ISP though is much stronger evidence. The police nabbing him by his profile is like saying "They like the same things, live in the same area and drive the same car, its definately the same person". Thats not powerful evidence at all, its a "guess". The IP address though is fact. This internet account made those posts. How do you think they catch child molesters etc on the Internet? So the lesson is, don't talk about anything online that you wouldnt talk about openly in public, because the Internet is not nearly as anonymous as people think. If you talk about selling drugs or something, not having a profile isn't going to stop the police from using what you've said here as evidence. Dont talk about illegal things and you have nothing to worry about. You dont even have to worry about that here, because we'd delete your posts and ban you long before the police became interested in what you were saying.

He taught the kid a lesson though lol

Oh yeah its been around forever. Thats not neccisarily a bad thing though. I know a lot of people who use Liquid Glass and get great results, its just supposedly not especially as durable as some of the newer sealants. Probably the original synthetic paint sealant though.

Super Glass Cleaner---stoners

It does work quite well. -
Thats exactly how I figured it'd look.
-
Yep, they'll send you a new one

You should signup as the owner on lexus.com and download the electronic owners manual. Its great not to have to run out to the car when you want to look something up, and you can even search it.

Thats why I dont drive a Mercedes. You'll hear similar stories like that from several BMW and Benz owners. Its a nice car, lots of prestige...but well you know... Anyways the RX should be FAR more reliable for you. There are some ideosycracies with the transmission hesitating sometimes because of the throttle by wire system, but they're not nearly as big a deal or as widespread as you may thing reading around here. Its just simply the "in" thing of the moment and it'll pass. You're definately garunteed to have a far more trouble free experience than with your ML.

And you don't want to negotiate the deal based on the lease payment either. You want to negotiate the price, THEN negotiate the residual. To check out some lease prices check www.leasecompare.com Lots of times car dealers will try and negotiate the lease payment instead of the price, they can hide profit that way because leasing is so complicated. Or, because they make it look so complicated.

Did you read the compero in Car and driver? Benz 6th Lexus 1st.
-
I think 20s on the car would look rediculous anyways, it'd look like an SUV.
-
$2100 off isn't spectacular though. I got $4000 off my ES300. My dad got $3,000 off his LS430 two weeks into the model year.

Agreed, I'm on my second Ford transmission, Acura transmissions have a 30% fail rate, worst tranny in the industry.

I think you could do better on the MSRP. Have you checked out sites like www.edmunds.com?

Freshly Detailed Shots Of The Es
SW03ES replied to SW03ES's topic in Lexus Detailing and Car Care Forum
Yeah I know some folks who've aplied it both ways and say it doesn't make any difference in durability. You could apply two coats just to be safe. I let it dry on one panel just to see, and dry it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove... As for the touchless carwash you mean the gas station type where nothing but water touches the car? No problem in the winter I run the car through one of those once a week. Thats a big reason why I got the Collinite, because in the independed lab test it lasted the longest in an automatic wash, 12 washes. The problems in a wash like that isn't the pressure its the detergent soap. My Poorboys EX only lasted 5-6 weeks using the touchless wash, supposedly the Collinite should last much longer. Be warned though the touchless wash won't COMPLETELY clean the car, and it wont do much of anything for the wheels or the under carriage. So here's what I do during the winter. Every week: Run through touchless wash (vacuum interior) Drive home Spray on Poorboys Spray and Wipe (a cleaning spray safer than a quick detailer, can also be used on glass. The whole spraydown and dryoff takes maybe 5-7 minutes) Dry with a MF towel Every other week (only if its been snowing and the roads are salty) Stop at the spray booth (down the road from the touchless wash) and spray off undercarriage and wheel wells. Run through touchless wash (vacuum interior) Drive home Spray on Poorboys Spray and Wipe (a cleaning spray safer than a quick detailer, can also be used on glass. The whole spraydown and dryoff takes maybe 5-7 minutes) Dry with a MF towel Before you dry the car after a touchless wash (the air dryers in the wash are fine) you've got to lubricate the towel with something like the S&W. After that it will look completely hand washed. Its a good deal, I dont get soaked washing the car in the cold and in 15 minutes of outside time for me (vs 45 to an hour for a hand wash) it looks great. Clean wheels with terry towel and Poorboys spray and wipe. -
Apply and remove, then apply again. Usually its best to wait 24 hours to give the prior coat a chance to cure before adding another.

See thats the thing, its not really a flaw its a characteristic of the throttle linkage. There are several other companies that use electronic throttles and they exhibit the same behavior. Thats why I dont understand why an electronic throttle is better than a tethered one... For me I never notice the hesitation unless I'm purposefully trying to make it hesitate, and I'm totally satisfied with my entire Lexus ownership experience so I'll keep buying. I've never heard of anyone being in an accident or dying because of the hesitation, its more an annoyance for few. Until that happens you're not going to see any action from Lexus. I dont blame you or anyone else who'se driving style is incompatible with the vehicle for buying something else. Do beware though that any vehicle with an electronic throttle could potentially exhibit the same behavior, not just Lexus. I've felt it on BMWs, Audis, Mercedes etc. If I were you I would just stay away from cars with electronic throttles completely, test drive a car well and for an extended period of time before you buy. Pretty soon electronic throttles will be the norm on everything (the BMW7 has electronic brakes and transmission also) hopefully the technology will be more seamless when that happens.
