Prosucts with Teflon generally aren't all they're cracked up to be. DupOnt themselves admit that it takes super high temperatures to get anything out of Teflon. The lady at the store was wrong about the clay ;) The Meguiars clay isn't very good or aggressive, what you may need is the Clay Magic red bar, you can get it from www.premiumautocare.com.

The clay bar will help with the roughness, but I fear that the "white bubbles" under the surface are the beginnings of clear coat failure. The only way to repair these if I'm right is a total repaint. What year is the 735?

I know on the 98 and 04 LS and the 03 ES that the lights will dim whether the lights are on or off. The difference between the LS and the ES if you have the dimmer switch set right below the full on click when the lights are off the gauges will be full intensity. On the LS there is a sensor that will toggle the gauges between full intensity and night mode (the dimmer setting) whent he lights are on and its during the day. Do a test, set the gauges right beneath the click and drive with the headlights on and drive under some underpasses, the gauges will dim while you're under the underpass and come back on full when you come out. On the ES there is no sensor and the gauges stay dim when the lights are on if the rheostat is at the same setting.

In this area Lexus will farm it out to DW but they up the price. So while the car is at the dealer DW will come by and do the repair. And most anyplace that works on cars will negotiate, INCLUDING the dealer ;)

I wouldnt be completely assured the paint is single stage until you check it yourself of have the person that is going to be doing the work check it. SOME Lexus black is clearcoated. Its a crapshoot whether it is or not. To test it just take a white terry towel and some sort of cleaner (A Cleaner Wax os fine) rub it on the paint. If the rag gets black then its single stage, if it doesnt then its 2 stage (clearcoat).

You dont want to use the Turtle Wax color waxes. They're abrasive and the "color coating" will dull the paint. What you want is an Autosharp pen. You can precisely layer in the touchup paint and it'll look perfect. Today I took the afternoon off to get my christmas shopping done. Found everything at one mall, got it all gift wrapped. They were out of something I wanted to get my fiance but they had it down the road at another mall. No bif deal it was 3:45 and the after work rush hadn't started. I pull into the garage, find a great safe end spot RIGHT UP FRONT, and pull right in. I'm the Christmas king! Walked in, bought the gift. The saleswoman asked if I wanted it gift wrapped for free. Since I was at that point completely out of cash I said why not! What can go wrong today? Walk back out to the car, unlock the doors and pop the trunk. Place all the packages in the trunk, close it. Walk around to the drivers door and put my hand on the handle, "beep" doors relock. If they're unlocked with the remote they'll re-lock in 30 seconds if nobody opens a door, and the trunk doesn't count. No problem, I'll unlock the doors again. No keys. Keys in the trunk. No, Lexus can't have a combination lock like Ford. I was locked out. No number for Lexus roadside, thats in the car, no wallet key, thats in the car too, and I wasn't about to let the mall security people have at my car with a slim jim. So I called my fiance and she had to come rescue me. Carry the wallet key. Trust me.

Batteries and bulbs are really a fluke. Sometimes like with Alan they'll last forever, sometimes they need to be replaced constantly... Whenever the remote doesn't work quite right, always change the batteries first. 9 times out of 10 thats whats wrong.

They're rare but they come stock in no snow climates.

If you like the Meguiars plastic cleaner and polish try some Plexus or some Novus, also great products and a little more aggressive (Novus) than the Meg's.

Checked it out in the sun today, other than some light micromarring below the beltline that has been there since its been winter (hard to avoid when cleaning off road salt) nary a mark anywhere. Good stuff!

99ls, You dont have to worry about your gauges. They're designed differently than the first generation gauges that always fail. wwest- I think they were talking about the dimming of the lights helping to preserve the gauges instead of the LCD.

It was great! Exactly as Scottwax and everyone at Autopia said it would be. I used two buckets, one with the QEW solution, one with plain water. Mixed one gallon water with i oz (2 capfuls) of the QEW, and i/2 oz (1 capful) of Meguiars Quick Detailer. One spary bottle with 1/2 oz of QEW. Used a microfiber wash mitt. Used one 100% terry towel for an initial wipe leaving moisture behind, and a Pakshak Waffle Weave towel for the initial dry. I then QD'd the whole car with the Quick Detailer. Product is really cool, the car was filthy too with road salt, the sides were white. Came right off, no swirls that I've found yet with careful examination (knock on wood). Here's exactly what I did. -Spray the panel down well with the QEW spray I made to loosen dirt -Wipe the panel with the QEW and microfiber mitt, dunk mitt in rinse water. -Wipe the panel with the terry towel -Finish the panel with the WW MF towel - Repeated these 4 steps all the way around the car until it was done. Cleaning the mitt rigorously in the rinse water -Did tires, wheels, wheelwells with the left over QEW and a terry washcloth. -Dressed tires -QD'd entire car. The whole above process took about an hour and a half, about what a normal wash takes me. I was VERY slow and careful though and swapped out the water and QEW mixture a couple times (car was filthy). I can easily see how it could take 30-45 minutes done by someone with more confidence. It was also 34 degrees which slowed me down and made the car somewhat harder to dry adding to the time. A+ for this product. It says its anti-static and I believe it too, drove around all evening and it didnt get a speck of dust on it. Great product!
