My father had 4 different windshields in his 98 LS before he traded it and never had a problem with leakage or with added wind noise but still, I'll wait until something bigger hits it that is really ugly before I let them break the factory seal. The chip is an annoyance but not as much of an annoyance as leakage or wind rush would be.
-
My ES does this also, but interestingly my dad's old 98 LS400 never did (same coefficient of drag). Haven't tried it in his new 04 LS. It is so annoying I agree. I never use the windows not even the sunroof as I hate wind rush (part of why I bought the Lexus) but recently we were on a trip with some family and they sat in the back and liked the windows open. That throbbing is terrible, I found tilting the sunroof was the best way to make it go away.

I know from having shopped for that car myself. My two color choices were the color I have and the Mystic Sea. Only thing is I hate ivory interiors, I refused to buy the Mystic sea because they all mostly ship with Ivory and the wait for one with grey was going to be too long. I had the same problem with my car, the Black Garnet usually ships with Ivory and the black is rather rare. I got lucky with mine. I ordered it from one dealer who ordered the wrong car and it came in ivory so I refused it, luckily another dealer I'd talked to ordered it for me anyways as she looked at the allocation tables and saw no other garnet/blacks were coming and realized something was wrong with the other dealer. Lexus is funny with colors, they don't ship a lot of different color combos. The dark blue for instance supposedly comes with black, but Lexus only ships it with tan unless its a special order. They like contrast, hence why black comes with tan, garnet with tan, mystric with tan, silver with black. You'll rarely see black with black but never with grey. Its weird.

I have one on my windshield that sounds just like yours, been there 7 months now and no cracks. I keep meaning to have the windshield replaced but hate to break the factory seal for something so minor. I really don't think it will spread later.

The PwC is an acronym for "Polish With Carnuaba". Its froim a detailing forum, I forget that people on other forums don't know the acronyms LOL, So yeah, you'll want to do another coat of the Polish before the EX, and I find the EX looks best after 2-3 coats. It definately needs 2 for its best look. After that you'll want to wait 24 hours and top the EX with the #16 if you want to. The easiest way to apply that is by hand with a terry or foam applicator just wipe on one panel and wipe immediately off, don't wait and let it haze like the tin says or it will be hard to remove. #16 should look good on your wife's van too. LOL, we haven't even set a date yet, probably sometime next year. :D

Its all in the silver family though, its a green tinted silver. That should be a good base. You'll want to do the PwC again before you do the EX as it doesn't have a lot of durability on its own. I'm thinking you might want to try Meguiar's #16 wax. In my testing and that of others it looks good on silvers and really brings out the metallic lustre. My fiance's Prius is a darker green tinted silver and the #16 looks great on it. You could put it right on top of the EX in place of the Natty wax. Your problem is the EX and the PwC are geared towards depth, you want products that will produce shine on a light colored car. I think we sell the #16, its not expensive...

Sorry to hear that, glad you're okay! No airbags will go off in a rear end collision. The bumper guards sometimes do a service and a disservice. They protect the body from damaged, but being bolted to the frame they can make frame damage more likely...

It depends on the year. Your 2000 will either be "Alpine Silver" or "Millenium Silver" I'm not sure when they changed it.
-
Is it the windshield or the side window? If there's no cracking there won't be any down the line.
-
Which Meguiar's products were you considering? I don't think the issue so much is the product its either the prepwork or the color of the paint. Unfortunately you have a color thats going to be really hard to get a great look off of, silvers are really hard. No luck reducing the amount of carwash soap used?

What all has gone wrong over the past 6 years?

Not at all, the seats on a brand new Lexus shouldn't creak. They'll fix it ;)

Well Bruce if you're going to dump on Lexus because your 13 year old ES300 had a sensor problem thats your perogative. You think a 13 year old BMW is going to be more reliable you're in for a huge shocker. The engine might go forever but the electrical gremlins would burn the rest of the car to the ground long before then. Cars get old, a 13 year old car is old even if it is a Lexus. I don't think a sensor malfunction for $600 is at all unreasonable for a 13 year old car. You can't expect it to be as reliable as a new one. Perhaps you should buy a less expensive but newer car next time. Irritates the hell out of me, people buy decade plus old cars and then rag on the brand because they have little problems. Its ignorant, just like H8R said. "When you're looking at buying this class of car" Huh? You bought a 13 year old car...

Actually you'd be surprised, the whole front and rear clips are all new. You've got to see them side by side but the 04 is much more aggressive.

Toyos still riding smooth as glass! They seem to be getting smoother and quieter with miles!

Happy 4th Everybody!

You will have to remove the shield (the cover on the bottom) which actually shouldn't be that difficult (I think its 4, maybe 5 bolts) then it should be easy, rech up to pop the socket out.

Lookin good!

I had no problem with your opposing viewpoints, I do have a problem with you insinuating that I don't know what I'm doing simply because I disagree with you. You need to READ my posts, I think maybe 2 or 3 times so you'll get it. I never said NXT was a one step product, I reccomended it to the member who started this thread because he wanted a simple wax job, out of what was being discussed NXT works THE BEST as a one step product. I never said it was or was designed as such. Its a consumer grade product that is easy to use and gives the best look with no prep I've ever seen. What I said was meant to be a COMPLIMENT to NXT. You however got defensive and jumped down my throat. Don't pin this on me, you started this *BLEEP*ing match between us. I was content to agree to disagree. I don't want people to blindly agree with me or anyone else, I actually said that in the forum introduction (which I'm sure you didnt take the time to read). As a matter of fact, I was enjoying our little debate about NXT until you had to go and make it personal towards me. This has NOTHING to do with me being a moderator. The only one talking about me being a moderator here is you, YOU decided to make that an issue. I am first and foremost an LOC member and I am entitled to an opinion too. I'm not going to remove you from the LOC, if you want to be childish and take your ball and glove back home because the "mean ol moderator" stood up for himself when you cut him down you can go right ahead. I'm entitled to my opinions too, you suggested otherwise and you suggested that I was not an experienced detailer, I corrected you. Simple as that. And Nat, having read your posts and the tone you take with people, and seeing reports of your posts being moderated come in if LOC is in decline you are part of its problem, not me. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen you post in here so I wonder just who'se trying to get the points? Methinks its you. In your 14 posts you've never missed an opportunity to be a jerk to somebody.

I agree, its not worth it. Especially if one for the ES is coming out in August.

The newer Black Onyx remains unclearcoated, I did a black LS430 about 2 months ago, a 2002 and it was single stage.

LOL, I love people that get so wrapped up in company's assertations that they cannot see past them. If you'd like I will go to the detailing community I mentioned and get the quotes about NXT being cleanerless. Everyone was so mad when they tried it there was about a 300 post thread basically lynching the poor Meg's guy that posts there. Mike Phillips, great guy but he got bad information about NXT from his source which was of course Meguiars. Whats extra funny is that I never said anything bad about Meguiars or NXT. I just said they are out to make a profit, which is of course true. They were out to make a profit in 1908, and they're out to make a profit now. There is no reason to expect them to give out information that doesn't increase their product sales. In short, they cannot be trusted. This is true of all companies. I use and enjoy many Meguiars products INCLUDING NXT. Companies lie, its what they do. Companies staff entire departments with no other purpose but to lie to the consumer and trick them into buying their product. They're called advertising and public relations. Oh, is that how it works? I completely didnt pick up on that in the 7 years I've owned my PC. Whoops! (sarcasm) Please, don't talk to me as if I have no idea what I'm doing. I've been detailing cars for 10 years and have used dozens and dozens of products. I know what I'm doing. Don't be arrogant it weakens your position. FYI I did a Jeep Grand Cherokee yesterday and removed swirls on 1/2 the hood with a PC NXT and a cutting pad, the swirls remained removed after a 50/50 IPA/Water spray to remove the sealant and any fillers. If the product did not contain fairly significant cleaners that would not be possible. A cutting pad and Poorboys EX on the opposite side did nothing to remove the swirls. It hid them, but they returned after the IPA/Water wipedown. These swirls were extremely extremely light, but NXT removed them and Poorboys EX did not. What other explanation can there be other than NXT contains some sort of cleaner EX does not that rounded off the edges of the swirls making them invisible...a cleaner. Like I said before and you failed to read I really like NXT and use it almost exclusively on customers cars as it saves the polishing step when applied with a white pad. On my cars though that get extensive prepwork and are marring free before sealing I do not use NXT, I use products without cleaners. As for my post being unfair and biased? LOL How? How am I biased? Like I said I use many Meguiars products and enjoy them INCLUDING NXT, I have no stock in any detailing company nor do I know anyone personally that works for any detailing company. How am I biased? As for innapropriate for a moderator LOL, that is absurd. I can't make a statement about a product or a company simply because I'm a moderator? Please read the intro to this forum at the top of this page you will see that I do not allow members to lord products over others (meaning there is no one best product) and encourage active discussions about the properties and quality of products and the companies that make them. If you can't deal with some discussion and opposing viewpoints about products then stay out of my detailing forum.

My guess is the 27MPG figure is a typo and was supposed to read 37.
