  1. I doubt they're rubbing because of the offset, probably just because they're wider. I think the offset on the LS is the same as it was in 1990. 17 inch wheels were REALLY big in 90, like say 22s are today. Carmakers just didnt design wheel wells to take them.
  2. LOL, good to see you again!
  3. I'm discussing ideas for improving my Sirius satellite setup with vais tech. They have some really cool products. I'm not sure whether I want to just add the aux in kit for $250 so I can loose the direct FM modulator line or if I want to go all out for $600 and have full integration (well as full as it gets, its not as perfect as the 04-05 LS" XM) with the nav screen. I could just get the aux in adapter kit and use my system I have now except changing stations underneath the armrest is kind of annoying. I could buy a soundgate adapter for $100 that would give me Aux in sound but I'd loose my CD changer. As for the FM, there is DEFINATELY sound degredation with the FM modulator vs using an aux in jack. I had wireless FM modulation at first with my Sirius radio and you will get break ins depending on your area. If you travel it gets REALLY annoying because different cities and towns use different frequencies. I added an FM switchbox which takes care of the breakins but not the sound. Whether the tape or FM is better depends on the system. USUALLY the tape is better. For some reason on Lexuses the FM modulator works better. I got my fiance a pink mini Ipod for Christmas with the tape adapter until they come out with something integrated for the Prius and it sounds better in hers with the tape adapter than in mine. You have to be careful with tape adapters and blowing out amps too. They make a slick cupholder mount for the Ipod I got her that works perfectly.
  4. If it irritates you seriously, you're driving the Lexus flagship and paid the dealer $400 for a key. DEMAND that they program it correctly or take it and the rest of your business to another dealer. Any dealer can fix the mess created by another dealer. Tell them that if you had wanted someone to jerryrig it like that you would have taken it to PepBoys.
  5. The LS came out in 1989, but they're all 90 models ;)
  6. Seriously, I wish I lived near Jason so he could service mine...
  7. Naa he's full of it, theres no reason for the car to vibrate or ride harder with an all season tire. Did you check the tire pressure?
  8. Autozone doesn't have remote keys. $180 actually is a pretty good price for the remote key... Good to see you again!
  9. I love the fact people who have problems with their cars automatically assume that this site is run by Lexus employees and that we're out to get them. Arrogance and paranoia all wrapped up in one package. None of us work for Lexus, hell I wish I did.
  10. I drive with the fogs on all the time anyways. I don't know why there isn't a light. On my ES there's a fog light indicator, on the LS I know there isn't one, niether is there one on our Prius.
  11. No, he shouldn't have to install anything to program another key, in fact once he cut it you could have programmed it yourself with instructions that are availiable around here somewhere. Whether you take it back is up to you, if the box he installed (no idea what that is, some sort of booster probably) doesn't bother you then no reason to take it back, but when you paid the dealer what you did for that key ($400 right?) I personally would make them program it properly.
  12. I design customer service and retention programs for car dealerships.
  13. That was almost as funny as the RWD Toyota pickup trying to get up a local hill lol. He looked like me on Wed.! Didn't get a chance to get out, its really cold here and they're having problems with the roads freezing so I don't want to risk getting the Lexus stuck in a ditch so if I go back out its going to be in the Explorer.
  14. You're absolutely right it does have a euro tuned suspension. I stand corrected :D
  15. I can't find any info on the Silversports, I'm still lookin...
  16. Well best of luck to you, but I don't know a lot of people that will be willing to pay you 800% more than the typical car broker charges. Outpricing irritates the hell out of me, its irresponsible and bad for business. Please don't market your services on the forum, I know for a fact that is a rediculous rate for a car broker to charge and I don't want our club associated with that.
  17. Well the snow was a dud, we got about 5 inches. I'm going to take the Lexus out here in a little while and see how the tires handle. I've been tooling around in the Explorer all day (on M+S tires BTW ;) ) and have had some interesting experiences. One was a guy in a Camaro trying to get up a slight rise on 270 getting sideways and hammering the throttle harder the more he slipped. That was enjoyable.
  18. Yep, USA 1 and USA 2
  19. I don't think there are any differences, I think the only differences are cosmetic.
  20. Are you talking about the instructional CD that comes with the car?
  21. If anything I would expect the Toyos to be better in the snow than the Dunlops because the Dunlop is an Ultra High Performance tire while the Toyo is a touring tire with thinner sidewalls. I would expect better snow performance when moving DOWN from an UHP tire to a touring tire with tradeoffs in handling. Looks like we may get too much snow here to risk trying the Lexus out, 10-12 inches...
  22. I got it from Pep Boys actually, works great with QEW. Nice quality product I was surprised.
  23. I'll always remember the episode of the West Wing where the president gets shot at and they yell at the drivers "GW and step on it!" and they pull the perfect 180 in the limo on memorial bridge lol
  24. sk- The 98s have been known to have some body integrity problems that were addressed by 99.
  25. blake- I'm sure it rides well, so much has gone into designing the car that we don't even have access to lol As for the tires, I heard nefore that they aren't runflats but they've got some sort of solid interior built into them that can be driven on with flats. It can probably be driven with a lot of percision but probably only by people trained to drive it. As for the roof I wouldn't be so sure about the headroom, the roof is probably a foot thick!
