  1. Haha! You found me out Rob! Yeah we're real happy with it so far. I've been driving it all weekend and this afternoon I took my sunglasses and such and put them back in the Lexus so I'll have them for the week. I was a little sad! Lol I'm really impressed with the material quality, which is something Jeeps never had in the past...
  2. Its like I told my neighbors, now that I've traded 45MPG for 18MPG we won't have ANY snow this winter. They can thank me in advance LOL Here are some pics:
  3. They have those at Tysons Corner mall...
  4. Well...the ol' Prius is finally on the way out! Drove home a new 2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo X 4x4 V6 tonight. The wife was a little apprehensive but she drove it home while I followed in the Lexus and did great...she loves the thing! After all that arguing about it... Anyways, its "Natural Green Pearl" which is a dark green, almost black. Very sharp, black interior. Navigation, sunroof, tow package. Got an incredible deal, too good to pass up. Sticker was $39,000 and I paid about $32,500. Not bad. Got a Carmax offer for the Prius for 9k, we have a week on it we will probably put it on the market in that week and see if we can get $10k or $11k... So far we are really impressed with the Jeep. It drives *great*...super smooth, quiet and stable. Technology is good, the Uconnect voice recognition is WAY better than on the Lexus. Still some rainyness around today, so hopefully tomorrow will be clear and I can get her all cleaned up and post some pictures...
  5. There's a Lexus dealer in Chantilly lol
  6. No chrome bars on the 2010 or 2011. The chrome surround around the grill is bigger, and the Lexus emblem is bigger, but the bars are silver painted.
  7. You say you should have bought the "94V", what did you buy?
  8. Rob's correct. The brake assist detects a panic stop, and makes sure full braking pressure is applied when it detects that panic stop. Thats all it is. Only way to test it is to get to speed and SLAM on your brakes. Which...obviously isn't too great for your brakes. What Tim is describing is not brake assist
  9. Unfortunately this is an issue with all the newer water based paints, not just a Lexus issue. Best thing to do is keep the paint waxed. These paint protectant packages are worthless, however for the OP don't those packages usually come with some type of staining warranty? The damage CAN be buffed out, take it to a competent professional detailer. Keep your cars well waxed too, it helps.
  10. Its not just the current trend, its been the styling trend for a LONG time... Like I said, what is available in the aftermarket has nothing to do with manufacturer's design trends...which is the whole topic of this discussion... Anyways I have to agree with cduluk, I hardly ever see chrome wheels on cars anymore. I think its a regional thing...
  11. The 2012 will be unchanged from the 2011 most likely, no idea about the 2013 since we haven't seen any pictures yet.
  12. I'm actually not wrong, I've been driving luxury cars and been a luxury car enthusiast for a LONG time, I have watched very closely how these styling trends go, and the "sportier" the model is supposed to be, the less chrome the designer puts into the design. Been this way for years. I'm not saying whether its a good or bad thing, which is why its not a matter of taste, but it IS the way manufacturers style vehicles. All you have to do is look at the cars within a manufacturer's lineup to see that the "sportier" models have less chrome. Look at the DTS Cadillac vs the CTS. Look at the 7 series vs the 3 series BMW, look at the M5 vs a 535i. Look at a CLK Mercedes vs a S class. Look at a Rolls Royce vs a Bentley. Even more downmarket, look at the Ford Edge, the "Sport" model replaces all the chrome with matte black trim. In general styling trends have been moving away from chrome, but you do see it making a little bit of a comeback. Aftermarket is meaningless, I'm talking about how MANUFACTURERS style their models. Personally I like chrome on a car, THAT is a matter of taste but the statement that sportier cars in general have less chrome than more luxury minded cars isn't a "matter of taste", just look at the cars a carmaker puts on the market...
  13. I don't disagree. The cover is tinted, just not as tinted as it used to be...
  14. The max is simply the maximum pressure the tires can handle, has no bearing on how you should inflate them. At 30PSI, they should ride great...
  15. I'm not talking about taste, I'm just saying in general car designers REMOVE chrome when a vehicle is supposed to be sportier, and ADD chrome when its supposed to be more luxurious. Look at a sports car...no chrome. Look at the M series BMWs and the AMG Benzes, in many cases they have shadowline trim that removes the chrome. Sure the GS is a luxurious looking car, but it is designed to be a sport sedan, same as the IS. They have less chrome than the ES and LS which are designed to be more luxurious than sporty.
  16. It has optitron gauges, its just their latest thing is to show the face of the gauges, but the numerals and needles still go black when the vehicle is off...
  17. Actually HIDs draw less current than halogen headlamps...
  18. Definately does, some dressings look great on some tires, and not on others...
  19. Like I said in my email, congrats! We'll find you a mostly structurally sound shack, not to worry! -Steve
  20. I like the chrome handles. The sportier sedans have body colored handles, the GS & IS, the more luxurious models have the chrome handles, the ES and LS. I think it all goes back to you buying the wrong car ;)
  21. The problem is that the really shiny dressings almost always sling...
  22. Thats terrible, did you take it to court? I would...
  23. Naa, the engine immobilizer is nothing so high tech. It basically just won't let the engine start without the presence of the transponder key. Call Nelson and see what he says...
  24. yeah, red light cameras are for safety, SPEED cameras on the other hand are for revenue. I actually went to a town hall forum once for a local representative election, a question asked of the candidates was if they supported more speed cameras. The consensus was no, since people learn where they are and slow down they don't make enough revenue off of them to make it worthwhile...
  25. Yeah I don't know, the electrical systems of these cars are so complex its hard for me to give you any ideas. I see you are in MD. Where in MD? You can call my mechanic, he's a 16 year Lexus master tech that started his own shop, LXT Automotive in Rockville. His number is 301-681-4033. Tell him Steve Withrow sent you... If its no longer under warranty something like this is going to cost a fortune at the dealer, he'll take good care of you.
