  1. My guess is it will be very similar, if not identical to what ours cost. I bet they'll have tome higher option packages and the hybrid loaded will be like $49k or so, but I bet you can get a navigation car for $40-41k.
  2. Yeah and its already so easy to do that with our cars. It was a big adjustment for me coming from the 2003, because the 2010 is MUCH lower in the front.
  3. Thats absolutely not the case. There was some guy who had bought the thing off lease and the oil hadn't been changed in the first 40k miles and was complaining of sludge, but all the time I've spent on here and ClubLexus, there is no oil sludge problem with the LS430.
  4. Manufacturers of marine engines definitely can have catalytic converters, and many of the new models in fact do. Same is true of motorcycle exhaust systems. Over the next few years they'll be required. Makes no difference though because we've been talking about passenger vehicles. Removing your catalytic converter is illegal, bottom line...whether other engines exist without them or not.
  5. That doesn't surprise me at all, the dash cover is a huge piece and replacing it is a big job. Your only other option is to try and find one in a junkyard or something.
  6. The more I see it the more I like it...

  8. Its likely going to need a full repaint to look perfect. You might want to take it to a detailer to be buffed/wetsanded first and see how it turns out. Not something you can do yourself without the proper skills.
  9. For sure LOL
  10. This is hilarious and makes my point pretty well LOL: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/08/snl-mitt-romney-cold-open_n_1410756.html?ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false#sb=153261,b=facebook
  11. You guys agree with me because I'm just such a wise and age-d scholar ;) Unfortunately its not that simple. Sometimes continuing to scrap the team and trying again creates more problems than giving the team the time they need to get the job done. You're a Washingtonian now...look at the Redskins. Dan Snyder is famous for bringing people in, and firing them when they don't produce instantaneous results and what has that gotten him? A losing team. Now he's learning he needs to give his team a little time to work, and its going to pay off just watch. Its not just the Obama administration in control here, he has an INCREDIBLY hostile congress to deal with on top of the issues facing him that are unprecedented during our lifetimes. Gotta give him time before we'll see if he's been successful. What I do see is a HUGE turnaround from where we were in 2009, its not where we want to be...but progress is certainly being made. You can't trust someone who believes whatever is convenient. Theres a difference between someone who adjusts his goals based on the desires of his constituents, and someone who panders to whatever audience he is speaking to. Romney is the latter. We need someone in the White House who can LEAD. You can't lead when you have no convictions of your own. You can't sit down in the big chair and say "Okay, now do whatever you want to do". He's like the used car salesman who says he hates green cars, then when you mention you love green cars he says "I know, me too!" We can't have a President at this juncture in our history who just sits there and does nothing...we need someone who can make the tough decisions and unpopular calls necessary to get us back on the right path...and I see nothing in Romney that makes me think its him. People always say that, but some of the biggest deficits in this country's history have been run up by Republican administrations. Reagan...Bush (both). W came into an economy with a SURPLUS and look how that turned out. Its just not that easy to say "Democrats are going to cost us money, Republicans are going to save us money" because history has not shown us that.
  12. Makes a HUGE difference on the Lexus.
  13. LOL, if anything I was much nastier to you in the second post. Oh well...whatever works for ya.
  14. It may be a Lexus...and you may have only owned it 6 months...but it is 10 years old. Do you have direct knowledge that the car was always parked indoors throughout its whole life? Do you know what if anything was used to treat the dashboard material over the vehicles life? Its unfortunate...but its caused by environmental concerns. Only option to repair is likely replacement.
  15. People want him to cut things from the budget...but not things that they see are important. Spending billions of dollars on the space program is not only fine, its vital to the country's interests...but making investments in American companies and banks to save jobs and prop up the economy is wrong? You can't in one vein decry spending and then admonish him for reducing spending...it just doesn't work. I would rather see a scrapped space program (and it isn't scrapped by the way) than see us loose medicare or social security. 2006 was an entirely different world. Unfortunately for that outfit, many of their competitors did not do business the way it should have been done during the boom, and it changed the reality of doing business in their industry likely forever, and they suffer the realities of that. We had rampent deregulation...and it nearly bankrupt the world. Its not that cut and dried. There are PLENTY of ways for a small business to structure themselves where they don't pay 40% in taxes. I own a small business and I can promise you I don't pay 40% in taxes...nowhere near it. I would imagine I pay FAR less than you do. PLENTY of ways for big business to get around it too...which is why they keep their assets on US soil. Then why? The reason you feel the way you do is not because of Obama, and Mitt Romney is not the solution. I don't know that there is a solution. We have a LOT of problems in this country, fundamental problems that have been lurking under the surface for years...and the policies of one man over the last 3 years have not caused them...and they cannot solve them. As much as I want to like Mitt Romney, and believe me I do because I see some of the issues you're talking about, he has just proven himself time and time again to be a spineless face talker who will do or say ANYTHING to get elected. Everybody was up in arms over this "Etch a Sketch" thing, but that was the first TRUE statement to come out of his campaign since it started. Its EXACTLY what will happen because its EXACTLY what he did when he was in the private sector, when he ran for congress, ran for governor, and ran for President. He is a different man each time...and he will be again when he runs in the general. Just watch...he's going to be WAY more moderate... So...who is Mitt Romney and what does he stand for? We honestly have no idea. He's pro-choice...but pro-life (remember "I'm more pro-choice than Ted Kennedy!". For Romney-care...but against the similar Obama-care. For a path to citizenship...but against a path to citizenship, thinks Ronald Reagan is the devil...then he's the messiah, for the brady bill and assault rifle ban...then he joins the NRA, believes in global warming...then he doesn't, against a constitutional amendment to ban !Removed! marriage...then he's for it. It just goes on and on. You can't elect someone to the highest office in the land who doesn't believe in anything but getting elected. Because once he becomes President...all he's going to care about is getting re-elected and we're going to be stuck in 4 more years of bullsh!t. His own party sees it...which is why he can't close this damn primary election. People just don't trust him...and for good reason. All along he's been the "front runner" but people have these flights of fancy for EVERY other candidate hoping that they can get somebody...anybody else who can win...he's the candidate of last resort. I mean...they'd rather elect Newt Gingrich! People don't come out and vote for the candidate of last resort.
  16. Right...because I've never added any useful information to this site...in the 10+ years I've been a member, the 18,000+ posts I've written, or the time I've dedicated to managing the forums here. Thank God you came along...last Saturday...and called me out on it You say you're new to forums so I'll give you some advice. If you only want to hear the responses you want to hear...don't post on an internet forum. I'll give you another piece of advice...don't admonish the top contributor to the site you've just joined suggesting that he "contribute something of substance" with your second post ever on the forum if you want to become a part of the community. There are other people in the world, illegally increasing your vehicles emissions for your own enhanced performance is "rude" and "irresponsible" by the very definitions of those terms. It has nothing to do with what scientists believe or don't believe, you're operating a vehicle on public roadways and you have a responsibility as a citizen to keep your vehicle in street-legal and safe condition at all times whether your state has inspections or not. Whether or not the engine will have "more power" or not is immaterial...its illegal and it makes your vehicle unsafe to be driven on public roads. Since others have to drive on those roads...doing that would be rude...and inconsiderate. As to there being "800,000,000 vehicles without catalytic converters"...thats a huge overstatement. In the US there are 254,212,610 passenger vehicles as of 2009 as per the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Only 38.3% of those are older than 10 years old. Since catalytic converters have been required in the US since 1975...I would venture to say VERY few street vehicles exist on US roads that do not have catalytic converters. As for the rest of the world...I don't really care because I live in the US, but even so...most other countries also require the use of catalytic converters and have for 20+ years. There are an estimated 1 Billion cars worldwide as of 2011, you're saying 80% of them don't have catalytic converters? Hardly. But...you "weren't considering removing your catalytic converters" so what are we even arguing about? To answer your question, no simply removing the catalytic converters will not increase the vehicle's power. Move along.
  17. I wouldn't worry about the nav systems, I've had several Toyota/Lexus products with nav systems for long term ownership and have had no problems.
  18. Sounds like the starter...
  19. The grey interior has the black carpeting and mats for 2010+, the Parchment interior has parchment carpeting, but they do sell mats that match the top of the dash/steering wheel color (darker brown). If your 2010 doesn't come with the darker mats (some do) you can always just buy them. My parchment interior looks great at 30k miles.
  20. Yeah but its sold well in a marketplace with less direct competition than today, my guess is pricing will hold the line.
  21. See, the entry level Lexus aint so bad is it? As for the wood trim, all the luxury manufacturers have an option for a similar shade. Thats actually really untrue, and is becoming less and less true with every passing generation. Yes the IS was a "Toyota Altezza" but that was simply in markets where Lexus vehicles were not sold, same as the LS being a "Toyota Celsior". The current generation IS is completely different from the IS300 which was sold as the "Altezza", it is not platform shared with any vehicle designed as a downmarket Toyota, and is a platform/vehicle that is designed 100% for Lexus. Lexus is FAR FAR more separated from Toyota than the brands you mention, it has entirely separate design houses, executive management, production facilities, etc. That was never the case, and is still not the case with Chrysler/Dodge, Ford/Mercury or even Ford/Lincoln, GM all throughout. You'll even find in new Lexus vehicles the switchgear isn't even shared with Toyota models like it used to be. The quality issues that he noted are due to the fact that the IS is the entry level Lexus, and the same quality issues (and then some) can be found on the C Class Mercedes, 3 Series BMW, Audi A4, etc. Has nothing to do with the fact that Lexus is owned by Toyota.
  22. I would list it on cars.com, autotrader.com & edmunds.com as well as Craigslist as well unfortunately...
  23. Does it crank and try to start? My guess is the battery needs to be replaced.
  24. If there was a benefit, Lexus would have the dealers use it as a part of the scheduled maintenance. They don't...so obviously they see no benefit. Modern gas has a good bit of detergents in it already.
