  1. Make sure you buy the Primacy MXV4, not the MXV4 S8. Thats the best tire for the car IMHO... Replaced my EL400s with them at about 20k miles.
  2. That is one valid point. When you have a relationship with a dealer and a service consultant over time they will take care of you when something like this happens. At 30k miles a warped rotor isn't really a warranty repair, but he could classify it under some TSB or something and get it covered for you. If you were just some guy of the street they wouldn't go out on a limb as much.
  3. Congrats! Come home safe...
  4. I wouldn't take any car to Pep Boys. Just find a good, local independent mechanic and let them do it. Not going to cost any more than Pep Boys.
  5. I wouldn't.
  6. You can reverse that statement and throw it right back at yourself.
  7. That violates the 4th amendment. No probable cause. I'll find one LOL
  8. What are you trying to tow? I wouldn't tow anything but a very small trailer. Well...I wouldn't tow anything but...
  9. But you can't pass a law that is in violation of the 4th amendment. Bottom line.
  10. Do you think the President called the Secret Service and said "Keep them away for 7 hours, HAHAHA!?" No. The Secret Service made a determination independently of the President of what security measures were necessary to protect the President and everybody else at the event. Such things aren't political. Previous Presidents haven't had the same level of security concerns. Ronald Reagan walked outside to get in a limo and got shot...now the President can't walk into a vehicle outside. JFK was assassinated in an open car...no more open cars. Quite frankly...this President is more of a target because he's black. You can't put political pressure on the Secret Service, they need to do whatever they have to do to protect the President, thats their job. Just because someone is a veteran doesn't mean they aren't a security risk. LOTS of people have threatened the President, and even made attempts on the President's life who are veterans. It makes for a photo-op that plays into your agenda, but by presenting it the way you're presenting it you're not being fair. You make it sound like me maliciously mistreated veterans and kept them from the wall. He's the President of the United States, he gave an address to veterans and their families, and of course there were inconveniences for security. Thats a reality of 2012. Had he not made an address, you'd call him uncaring and decry him for that because you hate his guts, and you don't have an impartial bone in your body. Believe me, I'm sure Obama would prefer to just be able to show up at the wall and give a little address, surrounded by veterans and their families with no checkpoints, no security, etc. Thats just not realistic. Thats how some people feel about black people too. Because "around here black people are always stealing stuff, selling drugs and hurting people". You would say a law that says black people have to submit to random searches to be sure that they aren't carrying stolen items or drugs, any time with the only probably cause being they're black is probably a little over the top, wouldn't you?
  11. You don't get it LOL. Nobody is saying we should allow people to come here illegally. We're saying that the government should not have the right to harass American citizens by asking them to submit to a search without probable cause. Thats all. As for your article about the wall, thats hardly an unbiased source LOL. For your information, its not at all uncommon for Presidents to give addresses at the Vietnam wall on Memorial Day, and as you know the President is a very at-risk figure in public and security has to play a role.
  12. Welcome to the LOC!
  13. No. Running the maximum pressure is unsafe, thats the MAXIMUM PRESSURE the tire can be inflated to without failure. Bear in mind that tire pressure also increases by as much as 6-8PSI when the tires get hot too, which means your tires are inflated OVER maximum pressure. Why do you think your tire failed? Because you over-inflated it. VERY unsafe. Like I said, higher pressures will yield better mileage, but they also bring a harder ride. Since the reason I bought a Lexus was the smooth ride I run them where Lexus says to run them and it rides great. No. Lexus specifies that you should not increase the oil change intervals when using synthetic. I know some people go longer when using synthetic, but the engine in this car runs hot and its hard on oil, I'd rather change every 5k with dino oil than try and go longer with synthetic. Synthetic oil does not become thinner at higher temps. In fact, it stays THICKER at higher temps. The reason it can create leaks and worsen leaks is its increased lubricity and added detergents.
  14. It doesn't at all imply that its anything but a reduction in the increase of spending. The point is that he has increased spending FAR less than any previous president before him since Eisenhower. Remember, Steve Forbes is a CONSERVATIVE. He ran for president a few times...as a conservative Republican. Forbes is NOT a liberal magazine.
  15. Hi there! Welcome to the LOC! You can obtain a free owners manual by registering your car at www.lexus.com/owners The tire pressure on your tires is the MAX PRESSURE of the tires. Thats the maximum pressure the tires can safely be inflated to. You don't want to run that pressure. I always run mine at Lexus' spec on the door panel because I like the smoothest ride. Running them a little higher will improve handling, fuel economy, and tire wear, but at the expense of the ride. Play with them between 32-35 and find what works best for you. You can run synthetic oil but you dont have to, the car came from the factory with regular oil. With 5k drain intervals, synthetic is probably overkill but I do it anyways/ You won't get 29 on a 330. I get 30-31 highway on my 350, but I have a 6th gear, little bit different engine, etc. If I got 26 or so highway with my previous 2003 ES300 I was happy. I typically would get 19 or so around town. Hope that helps!
  16. Interesting article: Who Is The Smallest Government Spender Since Eisenhower? Would You Believe It's Barack Obama? http://www.forbes.co...s-barack-obama/ And Forbes is HARDLY a liberal magazine.
  17. LOL...I'm sure he would appreciate that! I don't have an issue with people not agreeing with others, even strongly disliking them, thats part of the political process. Its this radicalism, these statements that the guy is not an American, a muslim, a communist, that he's trying to somehow subvert and destroy the country like a terrorist that really reduces the level of political discourse to the point where you can't even have an intelligent discussion thats the issue with me.
  18. Its still a lot of car, and if you still enjoy it there's no reason you can't get another 100k out of it. Personally, the only option I would consider so far as the repair goes is to buy the OEM struts. I'd be concerned anything else would compromise the ride, and that would be the primary reason I owned the LS in the first place. Bear in mind that new struts will magnify any other issues in the suspension, especially upfront. Ball joints, control arms, bushings, etc if worn will make themselves known with the nice new struts. Could be in for a bigger deal than you think. You'll take a big resale hit when it rolls over 100k miles too... Tough decision.
  19. Dunlops are one of those hit or miss brands, and they've had a lot of financial problems over the last few years, changing ownership, etc. The Michelins are MUCH better tires.
  20. War in Iraq is Obama's fault...check. And Romney has shown us that when he gets desperate he will do ANYTHING.
  21. You can thank that forced per se violation of your 4th Amendment right to protection against unreasonable search and seizure to California liberals You can always refuse to participate. In CA you can use your license for refusing a blood or breath test, but there are only 11 states where checkpoints are legal, and they have to be done correctly. For instance, it has to be marked, with an opportunity to turn around beforehand, etc. They won't ask you to do a sobriety test unless they think you've been drinking. Because in !Removed! Germany and other countries occupied by the !Removed! anyone who was Jewish had to wear a star of david on their clothes to identify them as Jewish. Failure to do so resulted in death...suspicion of being Jewish amounted to grounds for unreasonable search and seizure...exactly what the AZ law purports for hispanics. Go back to history class. Source. Source States don't have the right to pass laws that are in violation of the US constitution. The AZ immigration law is unconstitutional, whether the people of AZ voted for it or not. And what has he done in FL? No, but an airplane is not a public place. You do not have a right to board an airplane. God damn...if you would only listen to yourself. Just from a practical standpoint, do you think the terrorists are so stupid that they wouldn't realize it if we were only searching people of middle eastern decent? Plenty of white terrorists too my friend. Sure. It would be easier to set fire to the constitution and declare martial law too. The right way to do something is seldom the easy way. I thought Government wasn't the solution to our problems? Being frightened is not an excuse to take people's rights away from them.
  22. If they have no reason to suspect I have been drinking, and trained police officers can tell, they would let me go. Or they could arrest me...but again they are going to need probable cause to do that, and no officer would arrest me unless they are reasonably confident I'd been drinking because of the repercussions. I'd sue them so fast for wrongful arrest it'd make their heads spin. If the police officer hassles you, he thinks you've been drinking and thats his probable cause. Anyways, sobriety checkpoints are really violations of the 4th amendment anyways... Now...obviously I would never do that, I would comply because I know they're doing their jobs trying to keep ME and my family safe. BUT, I do not HAVE to comply. What the law they tried to pass in AZ said was hispanics HAD to comply or face arrest...the probable cause being that they were hispanic. Disgusting. I agree with you about enforcing the law. We don't need new law...we need law thats enforced. We need to punish employers for hiring illegal workers, etc.
  23. I don't have to participate in a sobriety checkpoint if I don't want to, and if the police officer doesn't have probable cause he cannot force me to. Being a law abiding citizen I always would, but I don't HAVE to. Thats not a reason to just give law enforcement officers carte blanche to search people without probable cause. You can't pass legislation that throws probable cause out the window because its a grey area. Talk about taking a step that will erode the very foundation of what American civil liberties are. Its a constitutional right, to pass a law that throws it out which the law in Arizona basically does is an attack upon our very soul. I agree there is a problem here, but the solution to the problem is not to take a page out of Adolf Hitler's playbook and make an entire race of people in our country present their origin and paperwork whenever its demanded of them for no reason whatsoever except that they are suspected of being a certain nationality. That is simply a sickening thought. If we submit to that, theres no America left to save.
  24. Show me the source. Anyways, you over emphasize the importance of the Attorney General. The Attorney General cannot "disallow" anyone to prosecute anything. If a state or federal prosecutor wants to bring about charges, and a state or federal court wants to hear a case, it can regardless of the opinion of the Attorney General. You really need to do more research before you form opinions Lenore. First the President is a socialist because his cabinet heads are referred to as "czars" when thats a term coined by the media that has been in use for many years, then the Attorney General is "disallowing" courts from prosecuting people. You're like Don Quixote shooting at windmills out there
