  3. I've been a gear head for over 50 years, have a degree in electrical engineering and have done 3 total ground up restorations on 3 classic corvettes by myself all of which have won many awards. I love the challenge of fixing cars and only as a last resort, will I send the car out for service..
  4. The answer to you question is no, the back ones have never worked since I got the car, but the front ones work fine. And yes I believe I have the ability to trouble shoot the problem, I 've been a gear head for over 50 years of tinkering with a miriad of vehicles, have a degree in electrical engineering, and spent over 20 years doing ground up restorations on three different Classic corvetttes. A1965 corvette, a 1963 fuel injected split window coupe, and AC cobra. I love cars and love the challange of fixing them. So which source do you think would give me the best bang for my buck, the toyota sight or the service manual for my car. By the way, I apprieciate the help . Oh, if there is anyone of the members willing to part with a service manual or know of a free sight to get one, let me know. Thanks.
  5. Sorry about that, you are right, there are 4 sensors in the back, 2 are in the middle of the bumper separated by about 2 ft, and the other two are in the corners. I did notice that the center left sensor is not flush with the circular sensor holder. It has been pushed in approx. 1/16 th of an inch, and is loose on the bumper. Do you think this cold be the problem. Bob
  6. I don't think the bumper has been off, but I can't say if the previous owner had some work done on it. Its possible something back there is disconnected . I can see the two corner sensors, and they are plugged in, but I can't see or get my hand into where the center sensor is without taking the cover off. Is there any other way to test them from where the cable terminates of does the cover have to come off?
  7. When I hit the switch to turn on the park assist, I get a warning on the display that all three of my rear sonar sensors are not working. Could all three be bad, or is there something common to all three that is preventing all of them from working? Thanks.
  8. Steve; Yah, i thought I would just quietly bow out, but I changed my mind. Nice try guy, but your Stats don't begin to tell the hole story. Ok, I'll give you there are approximately 1 billion cars world wide, but how about the 200,000,000 motor cycles, Have you ever seen one with a catalitc converter? Or the umteen million power boats, tractors, riding lawn mowers, trains, planes, etc, etc. I think my 800,000,000 number is not such a stretch. Now I'll move on. Have a nice day.
  9. Steve, 18000, I am truly impressed. I was only implying that your oiginal answer to my post was not useful, I do apprieciate the work involved in addministoring to a forum like this. I think if you had given me that last reply to my orriginal question, we would not have had this heated exchange. I'm am now moving on. Thanks for answering, Bob
  10. Steve, I just got back in town an read your reply. Unlike some people, I've taken some time to mull over your technical response before giving an ill concieved answer. "Rude and Irresponsible" First of all I wasn't implying I was going to remove my Catalytic Converters, I was simply asking a technical question as to the cars performance. If however I were to remove them, my vehicle would be among the other 800,000,000 other vehicles without catalitic converters. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly some people judge other people. Your response of "Rude and Irresponsible" was just that, Rude and irresponsible. It is an opinion based some enviornmental science that 50% of the scientific community holds. The other 50% think all these enviornmental restrictions do nothing but put money in some bureaucrats pockets. So next time someone asks a serious technical question, may be you should just take the time to add some useful information and not come off as some pompus !Removed!.
  11. I'm new to this forum stuff, so if I posted this in the wrong forum, I apologize. Just wondering, if the state doesn't test your exhaust emissions any more, is there any performance benefit in removing the material from the catalitic converters ? Wouldn't there be an increase in hp with the decrease in back pressure. Would there be any detrimental effects on the engine if this is done? Thanks Rfg08
