  1. I think the poster was mistaken when they said they had a deal for 3k below invoice. The dealer would loose money on the car if they sold it for $3k under invoice.
  2. This is how I feel about the repbublican party too...
  3. Lexus obsidian black does not have a clearcoat, but the rest of their colors do. The paint can be soft, but it depends on the color. Do some reading up in here, plenty of info for the taking.
  4. How does he steer?!?
  5. Remember when I said I was going to be very vigilent about flaming and flamebait in this discussion? Well here it is. This is totally out of line, it is completely innapropriate to insinuate, let along come right out and say that people who disagree with you have no common sense and mark them as foolish. Its unfair and it won't be tolerated here. As for your "scenario", I don't even have the energy or desire to respond to that paranoid and delusional ranting... Keep the discussion to the issues, and leave race, background, and radical ideologies out of it or there will be no political discussion on this board.
  6. Totally normal, mine has done this since day one. It is quite startling at times and it sounds like water is trickling into the cabin, but its not its just the way the rain runs up from the A pillar and drains down the B pillar.
  7. And McCain's campaign hasn't lied about Obama's history and positions? Check out www.factcheck.org I'm not saying the Obama campaign hasn't engaged in dishonest campaigning, but the McCain campaign has too, and to a more significant degree by making claims like he "palls around with terrorists" which is ridiculous. As for Acorn, the Obama campaign paid Acorn for a get out the vote campaign which many other political candidates have done before. He did NOT pay them to register voters, which is where the issue is with Acorn at present. The lines you're using are right out of the republican smearbook. Obama has never come out with a stance against your 2nd amendment rights He's not against offshore drilling, but offshore drilling isn't going to solve our problems anyways. You should read his tax proposals as pertains to tax credits for companies that create new jobs. As for experience, many very successful presidents have never had executive experience, any president pretty much who is a senator. Senator McCain has never been responsible for a budget and he actually would not be qualified for a job as a corporate CEO either. JFK...no executive experience. Now lets look at Presidents who HAVE had executive experience...George W Bush...he did a great job managing the US budget and economy didn't he? Jimmy Carter. I'm not faulting you for being a supporter of McCain, thats your right and he obviously has a lot of supporters, however I am faulting you for believing and spreading around information about him that is just not true...like he pals around with terrorists.
  8. I was in Hershey, PA yesterday and it was $2.70 there for regular.
  9. No difference in service maintenance between the 350 and the 400h...
  10. There isn't anything the salesperson can tell you or do for you. They honestly don't know much about service issues or common problems, you need to be dealing with the service manager.
  11. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do but refinish the entire bumper and repair that area. I have a couple indents like that in my bumper where people have barely bumped me over the years and theres nothing that can be done...
  12. Lookin good!
  13. You cannot just put a lesser DVD generation in the drive. Once the system runs on one DVD, it cannot be "downgraded" to a lesser generation. Anyways, even if it could there is no version 5.1 for your system, its an upgraded system that only came with version 6.1 from its debut in 2007. Pulling a fuse will not help. I've had the system for 5.5 years...with the nav function lockouts when moving...you get used to them. You get used to just entering destinations before you leave...its not worth destroying your car trying to figure out how to defeat them.
  14. The dealer is lying if he is telling you that. Call him on it, its a bold faced lie. You can buy the OEM extended warranty all the way up to the expiration of the original factory warranty which expires in 4 years or 50k miles. I bought the warranty on mine way back when and was glad I did, I had a couple big repairs covered, a rear main seal, the steering wheel knuckle issue that is common with my generation ES. But, you already have the 100k warranty because yours is CPO. So, $2,000 for 20,000 more miles? I'd pass, thats a year of driving for you and what could go bad on the car that would cost that? These cars aren't THAT expensive to repair if you don't have those repairs done at the dealer.
  15. What type of noise are you talking about? Can you describe it a little better? At what speeds do you hear it? The ES350 is one of the quietest cars on the road... I've driven several ES350s and IS250s...the ES is much quieter...at least the ones I've driven.
  16. Just be aware of potential turn in costs with not following the car's maintenance schedule.
  17. I suppose I'm just grass seed now? ;) Welcome to the forum Missy! What you first have to do is decide, how much effort do I want to assign to keeping the car looking great all the time? Sitting outside and being black...you could spend 4 hours a week on the car and it would still need more at times to look perfect all the time. If I were you, I would reconcile myself to an hours work once a week, and come to the realization that it will become dirty during that time. One of the things I can add to the good info you've been given here is never to touch the paint in a circle. Always wash and dry (this includes buffing too) in straight lines from front to back. The reasoning behind this is that scratches you see are visible because the edge of the scratch reflects light. If the scratch is circular it will be visible from more angles than if its straight. So only wash in straight lines. You also need to invest in some basic detailing tools...good quality washing and drying media, etc. I would buy two big waffle weave microfiber towels, several microfiber sponges (I like these for washing), and several other ultra plush microfiber towels, I like them from www.pakshak.com For your situation I like a product called Optimum NoRinse as rjt suggested, or ONR. You can buy it from Pakshak I believe, or anywhere online detailing supplies are sold. This product works great for your needs because you don't need a hose. As for sealants, the Klasse SG might be cheaper than the Ultima, but the Ultima is *much* easier to work with. Klasse is really tricky to use, I'd even reccomend Zaino over Klasse purely because of ease of use. But the Ultima is the product I'd pick. Lastly for your swirls. They may actually be smearing from the wax and NOT swirls. You'll know after a good quality wash using the tools and techniques we've outlined here.
  18. It depends on a lot of things: 1. What type of wax are you using? 2. Where is your vehicle parked, is it garaged, etc? 3. How is it washed, car wash? By hand? If it is most carnuaba waxes its probably gone in a month. Synthetic sealants...3 months maybe. Long gone after 10 months. The paint will always be shiny, but that doesn't mean its being protected by a sacrificial layer of wax or sealant.
  19. Happy birthday SK! Sorry I missed it.
  20. Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed it!
  21. Have you taken it to the dealer and let them look at it? All the ES350s I've driven are very quiet on the highway, as is our ES300. Something has got to be wrong with your mom's car. Its brand new, I'd turn it into the dealer and let them fix it. Test drive another ES350 and see if its the same way.
  22. I probably could have put the ol' college degree to work making my sentance make a little more sense lol
  23. Read what I said Alan ;) If you aren't in an area with no or few FM stations I did in fact say that the FM modulator does not work as well in areas with many FM stations, or thusly it works better in areas with few active FM stations.
  24. I think you may have read 4-5k below MSRP. $4-5k below invoice is the dealer taking a significant loss on the sale of the vehicle. I think the $53k figure sounds like a great deal.
