Here you go: -With the car started (ignition on), set the LCD odometer readout to total mileage (not trip A or B). -Turn the car off. -Push in AND HOLD the button/knob that switches the odometer -Put the car in ACC mode (push start without your foot on the brake). You will notice the maintenance light blink and go out. -Release the odometer button/knob. -Turn the car off.

Is Lexus Concealing A Potential Issue With The Es350?
SW03ES replied to nharish's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I'm going to try and make sense of your post since its so poorly parsed... But all Lexus dealerships have access to you and your car's service history. Again, how do you know they didn't drive the car? You state the in and out mileage as the same and I just told you my service records routinely show that, yet I have physically watched them test drive the car...and even test ridden along. They're not denying you service, they're just saying there isn't anything more they can do for you...which is why we told you to take the car somewhere else. No car I've ever driven or owned will hold its line against the crown of the road once I have corrected for it unless I hold the steering wheel firm. I can see the steering wheel moving in your video, obviously you aren't holding it firm. When you let go of the wheel...it will turn...you have to hold onto the wheel when driving the car. Again, if you refuse to do what I and others suggest you do...why are you here? SK suggested the very same thing that I did. If you have it fixed you can fight with Lexus for reimbursement...and the car will be fixed!' Oh waah waah. Life is full of hassles, deal with it. And you're not fighting now?!? Why not have the car fixed so that you are happy with it and THEN fight with Lexus? And...they can not claim that. Again, you are supposedly here for suggestions. If you are just going to negate all of our suggestions...why are you here? Do some research. Look at the yellow pages and find an independent mechanic that specifically mentions japanese imports or Lexus. You live in Chicago...there will be plenty. I used to think there were none here...until I opened my eyes and looked and then I had a hard time deciding which one to go to. You want "Justice" for what you've been "put through". Sorry pal, life doesn't work that way. You're an adult, you have not been wronged or damaged. You have a car that you swear doesn't operate properly...I've had cars that don't operate properly...I get them fixed. I think this discussion is closed. You've asked for advice, we've given it to you now you have to decide whether you want to take it or not. We don't want to hear any more whining, we want to hear the results of the independent mechanic that looked at your car...or nothing at all. -
Anyone who says they would take a 300C over a Genesis has never sat in or driven either car. The 300 is a...terrible...car. Awful material quality, weird control placements. Rattles. Its a good looking car, and is truly a car that looks good on paper, but its has zero staying power and thats shown in its sales. I think Hyundai's mistake was not promoting a luxury brand and making the Genesis the poster car for the brand. I think that shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how the American consumer works. Most Lexus, BMW, Mercedes driver would be very hard pressed to buy a Hyundai. I would be very hard pressed to buy a Hyundai, or a Toyota or Honda. I just like driving luxury cars. However, the Genesis really is an excellent car and an excellent value and I do honestly believe that they're going to handily eclipse Toyota in the quality department if they stay on the same track and Toyota stays on the same track. I would buy a Hyundai Genesis over an Avalon for instance without even hesitating. Again, like I said...wait and see. The only argument against this car is that its a Hyundai, otherwise its a fantastic car.

The Continuous Sulfer Smell And Lexus Denies It Threa
SW03ES replied to acoldstarnolds79's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
This is a pretty common problem with ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) Toyotas and Lexuses. I had the issue way back when my car was new and met the same issue, finally Lexus did replace my CAT with the understanding that with the new CAT the car was no longer ULEV compliant...I haven't had the smell yet. -
This is why you should think twice before buying off lease vehicles...

Ls Navigation -- Call For A Class Action?
SW03ES replied to LS460L's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
I've said it until I'm blue in the face, but Lexus has been making this nav system...with this lockout for 11 years and MOST manufacturers have a similar lockout. You won't have any grounds for a suit. The navigation works when driving, you just can't type in destinations. You can enter destinations by voice. Just type in your destination before you leave... Did you drive the Lexus before you bought it? And I would hope the BMW was all those things because its a V12 vs a V8 and costs about $40,000 more. -
I love this feature...I really miss it on my ES. This I don't understand. Why with the auto headlamps? Even when the headlamps are turned on manually...they still shut off automatically...
-
These are all the same arguments everyone made about Lexus when the LS400 first came out too. Wait and see. Again, so people were foolish to buy the first LS400, they should have paid way more for the "time tested" BMWs and Mercedes? And show me where modern Hyundais have dependability issues? They've been doing very, very well. Hyundai is a car company on the march upwards...Toyota is showing signs of a car company in decline. Look at all the quality issues with the new Lexus vehicles...

If its in your budget I'd reccomend the Pinnacle Souveran, its about $60 a jar though. The P21S will work great.

Do some research before you form opinions. The subcommitte meeting had nothing to do with seizing 401ks, it was about ending the tax breaks for 401ks in favor of a new type of account where they would assign those same tax breaks. Nobody has ever said anything about seizing funds in 401ks...except you and a couple radical bloggers.

I'm a detailer too ;) The NXT tech wax is actually synthetic, it is not a carnuaba wax. Its kind of like a "synthetic wax"... The issue is that NXT Tech wax has a LOT of cleaners and solvents. It actually is mildly abrasive, you could apply it with a machine and a polishing pad and it would remove light swirls. It does not work well with Klasse because the cleaners and solvents in the NXT remove the Klasse layer underneath. It won't do any harm and your car will obviously still look fresh and be protected, its just the Klasse step is wasted, you'd have the same results if you just applied the NXT without the Klasse since NXT cannot be layered over sealants. My suggestion? If you want the additional protection of the Klasse but a top layer of carnuaba, try using a pure paste wax over the Klasse. What color is your car? Some good pure carnuaba paste waxes: Pinnacle Souveran P21S Meguiars #16 There are plenty. Any liquid wax is not layerable because the solvents they use to make it liquid will remove any sealant layer beneath it when its applied.

I was thinking that too, maybe its the angle where the camera was looking through the windshield...

They both roasted each other, thats the Al Smith dinner. actually McCain's was funnier I think...

Could be regional. I just looked at some on eBay just for kicks...they had tint strips. Weird... Here's a eBay pic, note the tint strip at the top: The detector install looks great BTW, forgot to tell you that I just laid right in on your windshield lol

George W Bush supported a stimulus package...plenty of conservatives do too...John McCain might...I really don't know. He voted for the first one. I make too much money to get a stimulus check, I assume you do too since you take issue with it. However, it does come back around to us in principal because the money is supposed to improve the economy which in turn helps our investments. Thats in theory though, I'm not convinced a stimulus package will help. As for this 401k thing, show me one statement from the Obama campaign or any senior congressional Democrat in support of that idea. Senate democrats heard testimony on the idea of cancelling 401k tax breaks in favor of a new government run plan, but nobody said anything about seizing 401k plans. Obama has said nothing about supporting even that idea, let alone seizing people's money. Show me where he has said he wants to seize money from people's 401ks? Thats preposterous and that wasn't even what the testimony was about. Your information is right out of the republican smear machine. Read his positions and plans and stop relying on conservative blogs and media for your information about him...think for yourself.

Thats awesome LMAO! Drill baby drill! First issue's free babay, whoooo!

Personally I don't think now is the time to raise taxes on anybody. I'm pretty fiscally conservative. However, I have rethought many of my feelings about deregulation because of the way the wheels came off of this entire financial system. I think there needs to be SOME kind of regulation in place, the extent of which is yet to be seen. Specifically what types of government intervention is Obama proposing you take issue with? In terms of welfare, the system is obviously broken but thats not Obama's fault. We have much bigger problems than that to worry about right now though.

My dad's 98 had a tint strip, so does his 04. That generation definately has a tint strip OEM.

I hope you are right, I wish I knew what people really see in this young man, he is completely unknown, changes (change???) his statements to meet whatever the crowd wants to hear, and believes government is the fix for everything. I haven't seen any variability in his statements, he's had a pretty consistent message. If anyone can't seem to pin down what he's for, its McCain IMHO... I'll tell you exactly what we see in him, at least what I see. 1. He's young. Young and energetic. 2. He gets people excited about being Americans again. 3. He's not part of the "old crowd", he's a fresh face that will give us a fresh face on the world stage. 4. He has a populist message that is particularly powerful after the last 8 years. Thats how I see it. Issuewise...he's pretty similar to the Clintons and we did okay there I think. I don't consider this an issue-election. We're so screwed up none of this stuff is going to get done, what he wants to do or what McCain wants to do. So, given the choice who is going to be the best leader to get us out of this mess we're in both at home, and this PR disaster we're in abroad? A fresh faced young guy who gives rousing speeches and exites people all over the world? Or John McCain who can barely walk around and who everyone at home and abroad already knows and views as part of the Washington/American establishment? For me its not a tough choice.

Is Lexus Concealing A Potential Issue With The Es350?

Agreed. -
Hey Blake, I just noticed your windshield doesn't have a tint strip at the top... Is it aftermarket?

Enjoy it... Honestly...its the most reliable, least quirky car on the road. Just enjoy it ;)

Is Lexus Concealing A Potential Issue With The Es350?
SW03ES replied to nharish's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
These people aren't out to screw you. They "orchestrated the whole thing"? Come on. The general manager routinely deals with customers they flag in the database as being "difficult". As for the tranny flash, once the tranny is flashed it cannot be reset. What reason did they give you for denying you service? I watched your video. Honestly...I don't really see the issue. Yeah the car drifts, but each time it drifts, including when you brake, its very clearly in the direction of road crowning that is evident in the video. The steering wheel is off center when tracking straight, but thats very easily adjusted and almost every alignment I have done I have to take back because they've forgotten to adjust it to straight. Maybe it just doesn't come across in the video, but when you turn loose of the steering wheel on a road with a crown...the car is going to drift away from the crown. This is not true. You can have your vehicle serviced anywhere and Lexus MUST honor the warranty. Its the law. No, not having any direct experience with the car I cannot write an email supporting you when I don't have any direct experience with your issue. You're making the issue hard on yourself...take the car to an independent Lexus shop and have them go over the front end with a fine tooth comb and see if they can find an issue. If they can then in the very least you can have it repaired and send Lexus the bill. If you aren't interested in doing what we suggest...then there isn't anything else we can do for you. -
Wait and see, I think Obama is going to be a great president...
