  1. I have a 2011 also and ended up with a Yakima rocketbox. It mounts on the factory luggage cross rails. Made a 2000 mile trip in rain and snow at up to 85 mph. A little moisture came in the front but most everything was dry. I got this at REI. It allows the back hatch to open completely.
  2. WEll overnight it developed an offshoot crack when popped a small pinhead size piece of glass out of the outside part of the window. They examined that and said something had hit the glass causing it to crack. I have no way to prove otherwise so I'm now out $800 to replace it.
  3. I parked my RX350 2011 this afternoon at the office after lunch. An hour later I went out to leave and noticed the passenger window had a crack running about halfway across the window. It started from down in the door just even with the door lock. I got out and examined it and there is no obvious sign of anything hitting the window. No chip or impact sign. I drove about 5 miles to pick my daughter up and called Lexus while I was parked waiting to pick her up. As I was tallking to the service rep to make an appointment to get in tomorrow I watched the crack slowly grow until it was all the way horiztonatl across the window. Pretty weird since I wasn't moving at all. It cannot be felt by touching either side of the window and is completely within the laminated glass. Has anyone had any problems with the windows like this? I'm thinking the window was under some kind of stress within the door and finally gave way. Seems like a problem when it was put together. I just turned 20,000 miles and bought the vehicle last July. I'm not looking forward to paying to replace it but I'm guessing Lexus is not going to own up to any kind of problem. Glass shouldn't just break. I've been driving for over 40 years and have never had anything like this occur.
  4. Same problem here. 2011 RX 350. There is a setting to adjust this which I have tried. It made no difference at all. When I switch to Satellite from regular radio I have to turn the volume up about 15-20 points. Irritating.
  5. I've had mine for six months now and I'm not even sure what your referencing. So I guess my answer is that it's not a problem.

  7. No, since the advent of EFI, wide band knock/ping sensors, and monitoring of crank position, the A/F mixture can be slightly enriched if the fuel octane used requires it. Since about 2000 most "high" compression engines (10:1 EFI, 12:1 DFI) REQUIRE premium ONLY for full, best(?) performance. I've been running regular here in Houston in my 2008 ES and now in my 2011 Rx since they were both new. No knocking or any noticeable difference from premium. I've tried premium and have to say I cannot tell any difference in power and it makes no difference in MPG. I've asked at the dealership and been told premium is recommended but the sales guy who told me that said he runs regular in his cars.
  8. I have a 2008 ES350 with the tan carpet and seats. The carpet showed every bit of dark mud/water shoe debris. I jsut bought a RX350 2011 and went with the black/black thinking I would resolve this problme. Not the smartest thing I've done. The black perforated leather gets bits of dirt/debris in the holes. I have tried vacuuming it and that does not get all the spots. I'm left to using a needle or something sharp and small to push the debris through the holes. Anyone have had this problem and have an easy way to remedy it? Thanks.
  9. I have a 2008 ES350 and am contemplating adding a RX350 to our fleet. My ES350 has always performed over the estimated mpg on the sticker for highway mileage which is 27. I consistently get 32 at 70-75mph on highway trips. In town mixed driving I get around 21. What's everyone's experience with the RX? Does it outperform the sticker estimate, get the sticker estimate, or underperform the estimate? Also, anyone with a hybrid RX feel free to chime in on it and mileage. That is an option also.
  10. Lexus is not lying and there is no design flaw. Practically every 2002 - 2004 on up Toyota and Honda exhibits the hydrogen sulfide smell if the owner is using gasoline with a high sulfur content. Sometime around 2006 (plus or minus one year) low sulfur gasoline will phased in nationwide and the odor problem will disappear. Also, the hydrogen sulfide smell is worse in cold weather. In the spring of 2003 the sulfur odor complaints deminished with the arrival of warmer weather. I have a ES350 and it is in the shop for work. I am complaining and told them about the sulfer smell again. This is the third time. I've had them tell me its the gasoline and also had the AC filter replaced. It only happens on hard acceleration and with the AC on recirculate. That tells me exhaust gases are getting into the car. Lexus advisors are stumped when I asked them to explain how the smell gets in the car and if it is getting in exhaust gases are getting in. I expect when I pick up the car tomorrow I will get the same song and dance. My Avalon had this same problem. Toyota put a new cat conv. on under warranty and that was 5 years ago. Never had the smell again after that.

It is in the shop today in Houston and this sulfer smell has been a problem since the car was new. They tell me it's the gasoline I use. I have tried everything sold in Houston with no relief. I had this same problem on my 2006 Avalon. Toyota replaced the catalytic convertor and the problem disappeared. The question they cannot answer is this. The sulfer smell is in the exhaust, right? So if I am smelling it inside the cabin that means exhaust gasses are entering the car. Mine only does it on recirculate. If I put the AC on flow through I don't smell it when accelerating. I'm having them check it for a third time b/c warrenty is almost up. It's a lot of fun to have clients in the car after lunch and accelerate onto the freeway and it smell like someone farted. $50000 cars should not have this problem.
  12. I have a 2008 ES and that is not my experience. I drive with the brights on regularly and turn the car off and leave it as always. The lights go out I guess because the next morning it starts up and the lights will be on bright, as I left them the night before!
  13. There's a TSIB issued by Lexus for this... http://is350.grantham-international.com/ts...m%20Exhaust.pdf Is it my computer or does this link not work? I get a pdf error when Adobe tries to open the file.
  14. I got a cord from my lexus dealer for somthing around 30$ and its working great with my Iphone and my Ipod. I got one of these and love it. It charges the ipod also and has audio line level output. sounds better than the male to male cord I had that hooked up to the headphone jack. http://www.sik.com/imp.php
