  1. I would just buy the kit online and have a car audio place install it...
  2. I don't know, its purely a 5,000 mile on/off light, nothing fancy about it.
  3. Oh yeah, and it even says it in your Lexus warranty booklet. Just do a google search.
  4. No, if you update the system with an 07 or 08 disc it will do away with the workaround that allows you to input destinations when driving. Its not a big deal though, just enter the destinations before you leave. I use mine a lot too (my system has no workaround) and it doesn't bug me.
  5. The other cars are nice (I love my ES), but they aren't the LS. Every time I drive an LS I'm reminded of that. Funny, when I'm driving the ES I don't miss the LS that much because its really nice too, but whenever I drive an LS I'm just struck by how much...better...it is.
  6. Lets not make this a discussion about the auto bailout, thats not fair to the OP...
  7. You kind of have to learn to adapt to it. Did you just get the vehicle or have you had it from new? The RX330 has no throttle cable, its electronic.
  8. You NEED to use the parking brake when parking the car. I cannot stress that enough. Automatic transmissions (on ANY car) are not designed to hold the vehicle in place when parked without the parking brake. We've had a member here who'se car got hit in the parking lot and it rolled out into traffic. That will happen, so always use the parking brake. If you set the parking brake before you release the service brake after parking the car won't roll back anymore. Thats the car settling on the parking prawl in the transmission.
  9. Absolutely not. You can have maintenance done anywhere...even do it yourself...and it will not void your warranty...thats the law. Just keep your reciepts. Now, if you have a good working relationship with your dealer they will go to bat for you should you and Lexus have a disagreement about something being covered, but you don't have to use Lexus or even Toyota for maintenance
  10. Its the alternator or the battery, definately not the starter. What year is your ES, and how old is the battery?
  11. I didn't see them but I trust the service advisor that was caring for the car then, and based on my past history with other vehicles I buy that they needed to be replaced. We do a lot of stop and go driving here and traffic is really irratic. The other question is at what thickness is their spec to replace them?
  12. Where did you hear about this deal? I'd be extremely skeptical. That car is probably $10,000 underpriced and even if she were to just take it to a Lexus dealer they would give her way more than that for it. If its too good to be true, it probably is.
  13. I love foam guns!
  14. I'm sorry to hear that Josh. It sounds like for a cancer diagnosis its about the best you could hope for... Keep us posted!
  15. You want to see many parts of this country go into a depression? I'm not for a "bailout" but I do think the government needs to take part in some sort of restructuring that can work for them.
  16. Congrats on the decision NC, who knows you might love living in Chicago. Keep us posted!
  17. Its a maintenance free battery...
  18. MSRP stands for Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. Its what Lexus suggests the dealer charges. They can charge whatever they want, in fact Lexus cannot force them to charge a specific price, THAT would be illegal (antitrust). No I think you are correct, but that has to do with the type of consumer that seeks out internet forums. Someone who is a car enthusiast, has a working knowledge of cars, etc. The typical Lexus owner is not that way though, and they just prefer to use the dealer.
  19. It is possibly you would need front pads at 22k if you drive hard, front pads never last me more than 40k. But all 4 at 22k? I'd get a second opinion. Some Lexus dealers replace the rotors instead of machining them as a matter of practice.
  20. I've had my oil changed there at the place at Rio, they do an okay job but they always make me nervous, those Jiffy Lube like places. I use LXT Automotive its off of Montrose Rd on the east side of 355. The owner's name is Nelson, real good guy tell him Steve Withrow sent you. Their number is 301-881-4033. He has been a Lexus master tech for like 16 years, used to work for Lexus of Silver Spring. Real nice guy. The shop isn't much to look at, but they do good work quickly and they are very reasonably priced. He can do ALL your service stops and do just as good a job as the dealer, uses all OEM parts, etc.
  21. Congrats! Yes get the clear bra. Your Audi is old enough that it probably doesn't have low VOC paint. I'd love to see a picture of that grille...
  22. Its just purely mileage, its not the condition of the oil. If the light tripped, it means it wasn't reset properly.
  23. The Vaistech is the best option, I have it in mine and love it.
  24. The systems are almost exactly the same. The 07's has a higher resolution screen and a little bit different interface layout. One big change is that on the '06 there is a hack that allows you to input navigation destinations when driving, on the '07 that hack doesn't work. If you upgrade the navigation DVD on the '06 though it also removes the hack.
  25. Really? Wow thats incredible...
