  1. You'll have no problems with an optima battery, search on here and google and you'll find out all you need to know about optima batteries and operation in your vehicle. An Optima battery will last much longer than a liguid filled battery and requires "no maintenance" has no fluids to evaporate out. About $100 for a red top which is a stock replacement. B)
  2. Go with an optima or gel cel much better than OEM B)
  3. I used a free air cove 12" sub in the stock location in my 93 GS and it sounds really good. B)
  4. Here's how it works! When your gas gauge reads empty, your tank is filled with air instead of fuel. As you add fuel, the air must move out of the tank to make way for the gas. Next time you fill your car at the gas station, take a look at the pump nozzle. You will find a hole about a half inch from the end of the nozzle. This hole is connected to a small pipe that travels through the nozzle to the handle. When you fill your gas tank, some of the displaced air flows through the hole in the nozzle into the pipe. When the tank is full, the hole will be below the gasoline level and no air will pass through the pipe. A mechanical switch inside the nozzle detects when the flow of air stops and shuts off the gas. You may have noticed that, after the pump shuts off, you can get more gas in your tank by pulling the nozzle out of the tank a bit. This is because you’re moving the position of the hole relative to the gas level and allowing the mechanical switch to reopen. Conklin also explained how the replacement of the hole controls how full the tank can be filled. <_< Some toyotas have had this problem as well, their may be a TSB on it, probably not. You can also rotate the pump nozzle 45 degrees in the hole so the hole in the nozzle is on top. B) I would try it both ways fully in and out a little bit, as well as rotating the nozzle. There's a spot in there where the gas is backing up into the hole in pump nozzle causing the pump to shut off.
  5. Believe me, I have. ← I believe it's usually a pressure sensing that shuts off the pump. Make sure pump nozzle is fully seated inside the filler neck, push it in tightly.
  6. You'll have to do 2 amps or a 5 channel amp. You may just be able to solder RCA's on to the signal input wires and plug them into the new amps have to check the voltages to see if they're compatible with the amps you buy. Other wise use a line out converter, problem with using factory deck is any distortion will be amplified. Hook up outputs to amp or amps and crank it up. B)
  7. Genuine Lexus starter starter Aotozone starter starter You may also just be able to buy the solenoid or a repair kit, alot cheaper, however depending on your knowledge and skills, you may just want to buy a new or rebuilt starter. Guy may be able to post the FSM procedure. I posted on how to change it for the first gen GS, it should be pretty close. Search for that info. <_<
  8. your 2 cents was not necessary.....not to mention, I found only 1 other thread, and the guy never reported back with what the problem was...so thought I’d repost...and look, and got a response from someone else, that wasn't posted to the other thread......you don't have to be so bitter, pessimist don't think just becasue your an advanced user, it makes it alright to be a prick ← Your oulook on life and attitude determines how you interpret things, so you assume I'm being a prick and a pessimist. Says alot about your outlook on life and attitude! Good luck with that, I see it's working well for you <_<
  9. If you would have searched you'd have found others have experienced this as well. <_<
  10. Looks good! B) Will prolex ship to the US?
  11. Don't know, however SEARS is usually pretty good about customer satisfaction. Tell him you'll buy them if , he'll take them back if you have have road noise. <_<
  12. There are 3 02 sensors all should be replaced at the same time and if the cap, rotor, and plug wires have never ben changed they should be done as well. Replacing one item is not really the way to go, you should replace things as a set. <_< I look at it this way any lexus you buy with that mileage is probably goig to need all the items I mentioned. Hey, you're also going to need to repalce the timing belt like right now, if it hasn't been done already. B)
  13. You're in luck we're having our once a year group buy on new skins call 1800newseat or clink the link under announcements and it will tak you there, hurry or you'll miss out. <_<
  14. From all I've read it comes down to the type of tire and the precision ofthe balance. Discount did mine twicw and got it the second time. Funny thing when I went there was another Lexus guy there with the exact same problem. <_<
  15. Primer first, then spray paint with a high temp paint, they do make caliper paint at most auto stores or maybe even walmart. I think I used engine paint. You can probably use the old pads if they're only a month old. I have drilled/ slotted. I think the slotted wear the pads a little quicker as the slots act like little razor blades, however they do keep the rotors cooler than just drilled. Anti squeak goes on back of pads.where it contacts pistons. <_<
  16. Welcome and make sure he spends lots of time on here searching for answers to any questions and asking any questions he can't find searching. I hope your son has an decent job as parts are kinda expensive ( we have some websites for good prices, but still expensive compared to a cutlass convertible) At the mileage you have on the GS a few things should be done if you want it to run well and stay running well. These cars are awesome IF you keep them maintained and the motors are bullet proof as long as he doesn't do anything stupid. He should be saving for the timing belt change as it needs to be done at 120,000 if it hasn't already been done (hopefully it was done at 60,000 for the first one with the next at 120,000). These are big heavy cars to, so they can get away from you on wet roads also if you're not careful, as one members girl friend on another forum found out. B)
  17. They don't fold down If you just want to remove the rear seat then, pull up on the bottom seat bench near the front edges while pushing in. You'll see 2 bolts on each side and 1 or 2 in the middle holding the rear seat down, remove. Lift up to release the seat and remove. <_<
  18. I found this place that will reflash your ECU. ecu reflash B)
