  1. How much is Redline per qt? Anybody price the Royal Purple stuff at all?
  2. Are we talking about specific oil & air filters that are better than average? :whistles:
  3. I will do a search to see what I can find B)
  4. What does the Lexus parts department charge for that part?
  5. I'd stick with Lexus too! Beemers don't impress me much.
  6. I'd stay away from the Beemer from what I've read & friends have told me about over the years. Consider purchasing another LS! :D Spare the aggravation & expense.
  7. So skp, what your basicly saying is that what I've described is perfectly normal? My Maxima was kind of like this but a little more accurate than my ES.
  8. Thanks for the feedback, keep me posted if you come accross the number, it would be appreciated.....this is for an ES right? just checking B)
  9. What's the dealers reasoning behind not doing a "total" transmission flush? I bet they don't have the machine to do it perhaps? :whistles: It's not mentioned anywhere in the owners manual to stay away from a total flush. I made a couple phone calls to a few Lexus dealers, 2 had the machine & one didn't......of course there answer was biased depending on the equipment they had.
  10. Possibly, or maybe they mean not to adjust the gap too much :)
  11. I do know how many (in my case) kilometers I can safely go on a tank of fuel. Just thought I'd throw the question out there to see how many are in the same boat as me Any other opinions on the matter?
  12. Haven't had a problem (yet) with the mirrors.....the dealership replaced both black pillars however for me under warranty.
  13. Have an excellent holiday steviej, sounds like your car will be in good hands! :) Let us know how the repairs went upon your return & I agree with you that you should hang on to it as well, it's been too well cared for just to let it go under the circumstances.
  14. Welcome Sal :D I too am a Caddy fan (came so close to getting a pearl white 00 STS), but with the advice of my mechanic (and the just released Consumer reports car report), I decided the Lexus was the smarter way to go. Your site is excellent as well (been on it many times) hope to see you on these pages in the future too! (ES forums is usually where I hang out).
  15. I'm taking my ES into the dealership this week for some minor factory warranty work. I have a question about the fuel guage that I wanted to ask fellow members before I did. As most of us know our tank is 18.5 gallons (or 70 litres for us canuck's). I have noticed when the tank is about 3 - 4 notches above the half way mark that it still takes about a total of a half a tank's worth (9.25 gallons or 35 litres if not a little more) of fuel & I'm not "jamming" the last drop of gas in the tank. When the nozzel stops when filling up I usually put another $1.50 - $2.00 in and thats it (we pay about 0.72 - 0.85 cents a litre roughly depending on fuel grade in which I use Sunoco Ultra 94). Can anyone tell me if this is normal for the fuel guage to register a little more than is actually in the tank? or should I add this to my list of things the dealership should have a look at when taking it in for the other stuff? The guage is working, but it's just a little off as far as being totally accurate & wonder if it's a sign of possible future problems.
  16. LOL steviej! I can't help it.....just the way I am....dealers even look at me funny the odd time But hey, I'm paying for the maintenance so I'm not all that concerned what the dealerships think, their our cars right? :D 99ls, there is a tool that you can use that measures different spark plug gaps & also to adjust the gaps (can't remember what the damn thing is called right now ) But the new plugs that are specifically for a certain car usually never need adjustment, but you can get the tool to double check the gap if you wanted to make sure it's correct. I'd probobly do that........ ;)
  17. I wonder if Lexus has a TSB or secret warranty for this issue?
  18. Will they be able to bang the doors back into original shape or will both doors need replacing? I assume you will accept nothing less than a Lexus shop to perform the work ? Courious as to what the estimates are for a fix like that. I thought the damage was going to be worse as well, nontheless it still hurts no dought :(
  19. How old is the brake fluid in the car? when was the last time you had brake service?
  20. I guess it's to be expected since the 92 - 01 had the frameless design. I agree you can hear a slight windrush as speed climbs, but nothing at all serious as I can hear the stereo withour having to crank the volume & no problems having a normal conversation with passengers. Actually mine is quieter than my Maxima with the window frame.....go figure.
  21. Check out www.toyo.com (select "find dealer") or click this link to access the find a dealer on the Toyo site. Just type in your zip code & put in like a 10 or 25 mile radius to see where the closest Toyo dealer(s) are located near you. http://www.toyo.com/find_a_dealer/index_frame.html
