It dosen't even sound like they bent over period......never mind backwards. My Father just had a similar experence with a GM dealer when he bought his 2002 Buick Century CPO.....I basicly tore a strip of the sales guy as there was no proof of the program. Happy to say that it arrived in the mail & my dad has about $1000 worth of work done (at GM's expense)......all this should have been provided upon delivery. nicksan.....some dealers are just plain lazy. If I were you, I'd call Lexus U.S. head office on their toll free number (I gave you the link on my last post). Explain everything to them (they are usually VERY helpful & it will restore your faith in Lexus even if the dealer wasen't much help). Provide them with the VIN number & make sure they have all your information on file in case of a TSB or recall in the future. If it was a CPO vehicle.......chances are it had to be serviced at a Lexus dealer & Lexus Head office will have all that information on their computer to answer all your questions once & for all. nicksan, Have you tried to contact Lexus USA corperate head quarters eith by e-mail or phone? Perhaps they will be able to shed some more light on things for you after explaining things & VIN number. I'm just thinking that if its a 'Lexus Cpo', they have to have something on their records.....wouldn't they?? Welcome pro! :) First off, what are the exact size tires you require for your ES 250? As for a tune up, if you do not want to take it to the Lexus dealer, I would suggest asking friends, family members or co-workers where they get their vehicle serviced & maintained. I personally use an Independent mechanic unless I have a warranty concern. The Lexus dealer is a bit steep in price for labour, which is why I go to an independent shop. Are you doing a complete 'major' tune up (spark plugs, spark plug wires, timing adjust, fuel filter, PCV valve, air filter & 02 sensor)?> or just a minor tune up? & what type of parts will you be using? (IE: original equipment or aftermarket) B)

What's wrong with going just a smidge over the limit (slow enough that you it's not worth the police officers effort to pull you over) & save the money on a radar detector With the money saved, you can enter competitions at the track if you want to see what your ride can do in a safe & controlled surounding :D :whistles: ;) We all speed at on time or another.......but if your obeying the traffic laws for the most part anyways.......dosen't that make the need for a radar detector redundant?

Ok, ruby, Based on what you have told me your looking for in a tire, these are my suggestions in no specific order: - Falken Ziex ZE-512 (www.falkentire.com) This is an excellent high performance all season tire & very often overlooked because not many have ever heard of the tire name Falken. They are made by the Japanese tire maker Sumitimo & are a VERY good value. My wife, several friends & co-workers have this tire (at my suggestion to all of them) & they just love the awesome grip in all weather conditions (including heavy rain, snow & ice conditions). First overall in a consumer report test of 20 all season performance tires. It has a 60,000 mile warranty. Only down side, is it's a 'high performance' all season tire so you might sacrifice a small amount of ride comfort for the better road feel & handling. - Toyo Proxes TPT (www.toyo.com) I have these on my 2001 ES & have been very happy with them. fairly close to what I wrote about the Falkens in terms of performance with the exception of not as good ice traction......but awesome in heavy rain & snow. Slightly more expensive than the Falken with a 60,000 mile warranty as well. Very comfortable ride & quiet too. - Yokohama Avid H4S. I have no personal experence with these tires, but they were on my short list when I went with the Toyo's. Slightly longer treadlife than the other 2 but not by much. From what several others have mentioned, everything has been positive & folks are happy campers with this tire. Around the same price as the Toyo's. - Goodyear Assurance Comfortread. (www.goodyearassurance.com) A brand new line of premium all season tires. My Dad had the Comfortreads on his Park Avenue & they were fanatastic (the 'Comfortreads' is the one that is available, the 'Triple Treads' do not come in your size). This tire will have the most comfortable ride on your LS, so it is not designed for high performance in the corners and the like. However, if you like crusing the interstate for long drives & don't care much on the performance side of things....this should be your choice. Excellent bad weather performer.......heavy rain, snow & ice were never a problem for my Dad. He as bought a new car since (2002 Buick Century) & since it's available......he's going to give the Assurance Triple Treads a try this time around. This tire will also have the longest mileage or treadwear of any of the others at 80,000 miles. By far the quietest, & most comfortable but boring if high performance is your bag. Thought this was intresting everyone......enjoy! :) January 7, 2005 Michelin invents combined wheel and tire without air pressure Vancouver, British Columbia - Michelin has released details of its new Tweel, a combined tire and wheel. Developed in the U.S. at the company's technology centre in Greenville, the non-pneumatic Tweel has the potential to transform the automotive, military, construction and personal mobility industries in the years ahead, said the president of Michelin research. "Major revolutions in mobility may come along only once in a hundred years," said Terry Gettys, president of Michelin Americas Research and Development Centre. "But a new century has dawned and Tweel has proven its potential to transform mobility. Tweel enables us to reach levels of performance that quite simply aren't possible with today's conventional pneumatic technology." The heart of the Tweel innovation is its simple looking hub and spoke design that replaces the need for air pressure while delivering performance previously only available from pneumatic tires. The flexible spokes are fused with a flexible wheel that deforms to absorb shock and rebound. The Tweel still delivers pneumatic-like performance in weight-carrying capacity, ride comfort, and the ability to "envelope" road hazards, said the company. Michelin has also found that it can tune Tweel performances independently of each other, which is a significant change from conventional tires. This means that vertical stiffness (which primarily affects ride comfort) and lateral stiffness (which affects handling and cornering) can both be optimized, pushing the performance envelope in these applications and enabling new performances not possible for current inflated tires. The Tweel prototype, demonstrated on the Audi A4, is within five percent of the rolling resistance and mass levels of current pneumatic tires. That translates to within one percent of the fuel economy of the standard production application. Additionally, Michelin has increased the lateral stiffness by a factor of five, making the prototype unusually responsive in its handling.

ruby, I will do some research for you later this morning. The LS 430 is quite a bit different than the GS you mention, including the type of tires both vehicles call for. The LS is Lexus' 'flagship'......the GS is a 'performance' sedan so it is no suprise the tires on the GS were noisy.....I will let you know & I am confident you can the best of all worlds (long wear on a quiet, comfortable tire with excellent traction in bad weather). What are all the benefits (if any) of putting nitrogen in your tires (other than what is mentioned) over regular air? I've never heard of putting anything but regular air in tires before. Without being smart about it......as an example, why not heilium & such?

What is the exact tire size you need for your LS ruby? What important things do you want in a replacement tire? (IE: long mileage or treadlife, comfort, excellent wet traction ?) The more specific you can be, the better the tire recommendations I can make. B)

I've always used a 'paint sealant' as opposed to a wax or polish as it held up much better & much longer. B)

I'm personally not aware of any 'Lexus' mudguards available for the ES model, but perhaps some dealers offer something in their parts departments that differ from dealer to dealer. Give a few of them a call to ask. If your intrested in rust-proofing at all.....let me know as well. I know the BEST guy in the provience. B) ← I'm from Burlington but purchased the car at Ken Shaw in Toronto. I wanted a white Special Edition, a hard colour combination to get. Ken Shaw had a deal go south on one and now had one in stock. I have always found it easer to negotiate wile the car is in stock. So with the combination of very few white ES's and Oakville’s lack of wiliness to negotiate I went with Ken Shaw. ← I've heard pretty good things about Ken Shaw & his Lexus/Toyota dealership. He is also the president of the Toronto Automobile dealers Assoc & with his 'title' also has a weekly column in the Toronto Star 'Wheels' section. B) Best of Luck with your new ES. One question however.......How much off did Ken Shaw give you compared to Lexus of Oakville?

Why do you want to disable this feature? It's a wise safety enhancement that has been standard on ALL motor vehicles sold in Canada since the 1990 models year. It uses a minimum of light voltage & it let's others see you better especially in bad weather. I'd think twice before disabling it. Just my 2 cents. This feature has also proven to reduce traffic crashes significantly in studies conducted over the years.

B) Everything that CR has written about the Falken's have come true & we have had a couple snow storms mixed with freezing rain) so far in the last 2 weeks & all I can say (both my wife & I have driven them in the snow & ice) is they are just awesome for grip, handling, being quiet........6,500 miles on them already & no sign's of wear (just did a rotation) & they hold their air pressure just great. Many tire dealers haven't even heard of these tires to be honest so I'd make some more phone calls if your still intrested or better yet, go to their website. WWW.FALKENTIRE.COM ← Here's my 2 cents.....Just replaced my Bridgestone Potenzas (just realized they were Z rated!) with the Yokohama Avid V4s. These tires are awesome! Cornering and wet traction are out of this world. Did lots of research before I purchased and had it narrowed down to these and the Toyo Proxes TPT. Chose these based on the better traction rating. Couldn't beat the price $390 out the door!!! ← Wise choice (I could have got the Avid H4S instead of the Toyo's, but wanted to stick with the V speed rating & the V4S didn't come in my size). B) They should provide you with good service. It will be a coin toss next time as I have the Falken & now the Goodyear Triple Tread on my short list.
