  1. no way the stealership would quote that low.
  2. i like my set of kumho's.
  3. I dunno- sounds like a lot of work and money. i just would rather use my remote starter (make sure defrost is on and the heater is cranked up) and make sure i have tons of Rain X windshield wiper fluid. That stuff works awesome!
  4. PM LOC/CL member lexusk8. He did this exact mod on his 01 ES last spring. He even created a thread that has pictures. (I can't remember if it is here or on CL). There are not bolts or pins on the ES and LEXUS emblems, just adhesive. you need a blow dryer/heat gun, monofilament, 3M adhesive remover, 3m ultra fine rubbing compound, a nice wax and of course some soft cloths. steviej ← my '98 lid only has the hole for the "L".
  5. that's what I thought- but, they wanted to make alot of money off this job. I asked myself- blend in the trunk? if it was a door, maybe. I'll just call other shops and get more quotes. oh-i need them to paint the inside of the replacement trunk, but not clear coat it. and they need to install the lights from the original trunk. I plan to only have the "L" logo placed on the replacement trunk. I want to leave the "lexus" and "es300" off for a cleaner look. OK- found a highly recommended shop that will paint the trunk off the car without me leaving it there for 2-3 days. I'll drop the lid off in the next 48 hrs. now i'm psyched.
  6. That's exactly what the shop said. they would need to blend in the quarters.
  7. That is EXACTLY what I would like to do......however the pictures of the unit already installed into the vehicle are not that helpful....I need information on how it was done. Do you know where I can get that information. ← good luck trying to duplicate that amazing project. I have a stealership installed Magellan 750NAV and it works great. that's the older model, they have newer mobile ones out for about 600 bucks, that way you can use it in multiple cars or even hiking!
  8. the ones that sound bad are the 3 dollar cassette adapters. I bought one for $15 at walmart...I use both my 3g ipod and now my new shuffle and they both sound great in the car. the trick is to adjsut the volume on the deck and the mp3 player. That's it.
  9. I had my trunk lid vandelized.nothing major but the body shop quoted 3 hrs of body work. After 4 calls to local junk yards, I found a shop that had a '98 lid in burgandy. I figured what the hell..i'll buy this - it was mint,no scratches,no dents...and more importantly-there would be no bondo. I just want it painted off the car to reduce overspray too. I thought i could just drop it off and they can paint it. once done i would drop the car off for the install. It would be less downtime too. So i called a shop and they said- to paint, prep, install and blend in the quarters would be $750.00.I can't drop off the lid without the car because they don't want to be responsible for the lid. is that a fair price? i know i need another estimate, but i don't want to drive around with the lid in the back seat forever. I told the shop the lid was mint, they said my definition of mint will be different than theirs. I agree, but the lid is sweet-> if my car was burgandy, i would just bolt it on myself and just wash it and polish it. Oh yeah, it cost me $125.00. So- what do you guys and gals think? is 750 a fair price for the paint and install of a trunk lid? I know, i'll go to another shop for more estimates. thanks!
  10. um, i'm talking about the lights that beep when you put the car in reverse and back up- ya know, so you don't run over someone's dog/cat. Sorta like the trucks have so they don't hit people.
  11. Backup beeping lights- Any recommendations? thanks, g
  12. wow-they look great!
  13. the stealership will probably want a first born son for a set. i hate them
  14. Adjuster - Are you talking INSURANCE adjuster? If so, I would be less expensive to have it repaired yourself than to pay a deductable. If applicable, correct me. ;) ← yes, an insurance adjuster. Long story short...my windshield was replaced and the shop called - Mobile Auto Glass in Jamaica , NY... while vacuming the shards of glass managed to cut the seat stiching. o course i complained and they did not want to take responsibility-so i left. I called the insurance company because they also damaged the drivers side post and around the windshield while removing the old one. UNREAL.they also left black silicone all over the roof of the car and took an 1 1/2 to replace the windshield.
  15. thanks- luckily there are no cuts, holes or anything like that.looks like the stiching in the middle of the seat was cut.I'd prefer to have them re stich than replace.we'll see. An adjuster is supposed to stop by and check it out!
  16. Anyone know where I can get a leather seat replacement? I just need the bottom piece cover. thanks!
  17. I never noticed until tonight- is there a lamp under the hood of the car? I must be losing it...I could have sworn there was, I had my windshield replaced, and I think they forgot to put it back? Is that possible?
  18. buffed his rotors? do you mean resurfaced?
  19. yeah, i'm in the same boat.
  20. what's the kelly blue book say? I personally like cloth instead of leather.IMHO.
  21. wow- I actutally got both- AOL thought it was spam and sent it to the spam folder! weird. thanks !, it looks sweet on my desktop!! :D
  22. hhmm, did not get it. :cries:
