  1. The gas cap is origional and appears to be in good condition.....I check the seal. I do have a tendacy to put a little more gas in there after the filler automatically clicks off. The check engine light came on about a week ago, so I took it to Autozone and had them read the code. It came up PO440, Evap Malfunction. So, I had them reset the code.....about a week later, it came back. I really don't want to take my car in for repair.....I'd rather just fix it myself. That's why I was asking if I could just replace the charcoal canister myself. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Do you know where I could find a manual for my ES online or something that would show me this. I cannot seem to find any kind of repair information for this vehicle.
  3. Hello.....Recently I got a P0440 Code on my 2000 ES. Based on what I'm reading, it appears that the charcoal canister needs to be replaced. My question is, is this something that I could do ? Is it necessary that I take it to the dealer ? I cannot seem to find any information about people doing this themselves.... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Bingo ! Also, I'm looking at the pics.....they don't look that different to me. It looks like the LS steering wheel is bigger and not as deep.
  5. Why do you doubt it ? I've looked a pictures of steering wheels from LS400 and ES300 around the same year and they look almost identical; I'm just not sure if the mounting is the same. It looks like the airbag from the ES will fit, I just wanted to see if someone could confirm that it does or doesn't.
  6. This topic may seem really lame....but does anyone know of Steering wheel compatibilities between lexus vehicles ?? I would like to get a new steering wheel in my 2000 ES, will steering wheels from any other vehicles fit ? If so, can anyone tell me what years and models ?? Thanks
  7. That is EXACTLY what I would like to do......however the pictures of the unit already installed into the vehicle are not that helpful....I need information on how it was done. Do you know where I can get that information.
  8. I'm looking into the idea of putting a Navigation system into my 2000 ES. My main question is, is this possible ?? I would like to put a OEM toyota/lexus unit. I know that Navigation wasn't on option for that year, but I would still like to know if putting in a unit could be done. What would I all need besides the factory Navigation head unit? Could I connect it to the factory CD changer? Has anyone else thought about or done this ?? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Thanks for all the info !! Can I ask where you mounted your ballasts.....do you happen to have any pics of your installation?? Thanks NT
  10. Thanks for the advice on the mc cullough kits......it really helps alot as I'm still very new to this and am doing a lot of research. If I don't do the oem setup, I'm probably going to do an aftermarket one...... I know how you feel about the mc cullough kits.......do you have any recomendations.... Thanks NT
  11. You should thow up some pictures on your website of the headlight assembly mounted under the hood......what you needed to do to fit them. Also, can I ask for some information on how you did your Navi System?? That thing is freakishly sweet !!!
  12. NICE !! Acutally, I have looked at that before.....that is exactly what I would like to do. The question is, were you able to drop in the HID headlight assembly and just plug and play, or was there more involved. Also, there might be some differences between the 97 and the 2000. Also I REALLY like the Navigation System......I'm assuming that was not easy. Any info would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the info......I'm actually suprised there are not more people who are doing this or have done this.....I suspect that the aftermarket HID kits are much more affordable so more people are doing that. Anyways, I belive that the ballasts are built into the bottom of the headlight assembly, but is there any other associated wiring that I would need?? Thanks NT
  14. Looking for some information regarding this..... I'm in the process of purchasing a 2000 ES300, has all the options that I want, mileage is good, but it doesn't have the HID headlight option....I really would have liked to have that, but I think I'm going to purchase the car anyways.....I can't be TOO picky !! Anyways...is it possible to take the HID headlights from a 2000-2001 ES that had that option and simply "drop 'em in" or is there some other things that need to be done. I would like it if I could just get a set of those headlight and plug and play, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. I'm new to this fourm.....soon I'm planing on purchasing a ES300, and I'm looking for some advice/suggestions from anyone. Currently I'm looking at a 97-2001 ES300. I REALLY like the HID headlights, but I believe I would have to get a 2000 or newer for that. Also I MUST have the heated seats, which I believe was an option on the 97-99's but standard on the 2000 and newer models ?? Is that corrct ?? I guess I have a few question......if I buy the 97-99, is it possible to get the HID upgrade ?? Are their any advantages to buying a 97-99 over a 2000-2001 ?? What about advantages in buying a 2000+ over a 97-99 ? Any help/advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
