  1. Have you gone underneath the car and looked yourself yet? The hangers are pretty thick stainless rods that are welded to the pipe itself. Those fit into rubber hangers that attach to the car. You may have a hanger that slipped out, or one of them is stretched out too far for some reason, or torn. If not and it's just hanging like that, then I would try to bend one of the rods down to raise it, or bend it up to lower it, which ever you decide. Can you take a pic so I can see what you'r saying about the levelness of the pipes?
  2. um wouldn't it b worth his time to buy a quality manifold too? I'd hate to buy one, have them re-weld it and strength it, the put it on and a leak to pop up someplace... OP, I'm a big fan of ball bearing turbos....tad more costly but lower spool rpms and less lag is worth the extra $ As far as the manifold goes theres a cast iron manifold sold on ebay that looks pretty sturdy, considering it's stamped I figure it will hold up to the boost I'm looking to push without any problems. The turbo is what I'm having a bit of trouble finding. The cast manifold I want sells for $170 and it's set up for a T4 turbo. Here is the link : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= (Or ebay search Toyota Supra MK4 2JZ GTE 2JZGTE Cast T4 Turbo Manifold ) .63 backhousing? I'm not really savvy with turbo talk, do you guys think you could recommend one for me with a link(s)? I'll go with a FMIC intercooler. Would love to see some pics of that supercharger build!!! :D are you doing the install yourself? Why not just do a turbo kit like SRT, Turbonetics, or HKS? If you don't know what your doing, your probably going to end up spending alot more money and time and hassles.
  3. Well, I this is the look after the transformation, and I'm thinking: Oh yeah...
  4. I'll pick up that check, and give one to dc one me also!
  5. I just think it's so funny that the ISF is faster than Porsche 911 GT3!, and the Mitsu Evo is faster than a BMW M3! I wouldn't have guessed those correctly. I just watched the TG episode where they time lapped the Koenigsegg CCX without the spoiler, the mfgr said they would take the car back, fix it and return it with proper rear downforce. I see one the list it did infact lap much faster, although I haven't seen that episode yet.
  6. Right, the one that you have to slip in between the rails to the stop marker that tells the car wash your in the correct postion so it can begin. So what do you feel?
  7. Youwant them to fix it or do you want them to total it?
  8. Man I'm sorry to hear that. Who's your insurance with? and who's doing the estimate?
  9. What did the two say to the four? SIX! SIX! that's all you ever think about is SIX!!!!
  10. Just lookin at the Avatar and banner signature makes me wanna post somethin so I can see it again....
  11. I just want to give the big shout out to Flop170 for the banner I now have! Thank you. It looks awsome, I love it! you did a great job on it.
  12. yeah, that's a pretty sick car, but it's also like $700K. I can reach a GTR. All the cars on that list are very nice though. I don't think there are any up there that I wouldn't like to have. (For awhile to have fun with.) I wouldn't want to have to drive it back and fourth to work. LOL!!
  13. That actually looks like rail damage from a car wash or the quick lube places. Nothing on the car would cause that.
  14. Can ask you if you know about the Vaitech, Soundlinq, or other USB port interface kits for the Ipod? I only ask because then the buttons already on the steering wheel do everything without having to add more buttons. And the USB sounds way better than the aux. cable input. And if you get a phone call, it pauses the ipod while your on the phone, so when you hang up, it resumes the play back then so your not having to turn the stereo down to talk, and then back up when your done, and have missed all those songs while you were on the phone.
  15. ...and I thought it was just me that noticed (and was a lighting rod for) the above mentioned behavior. It certainly gets in the way of trying to be productive and informative to fellow members. I think Bartkat's point is completely valid. I'm all for being "productive and informative" on this Forum, but posting how you believe you've been wronged by Lexus for something that you should have known before you purchase does not accomplish that goal. Here's the "fine print" off of the Specs page for the IS: People complain about all the "fine print" and all the legalease, but then completely ignore it, and try and blame the dealer or salesperson when they find out later about something that was "disclosed" to them. Why do you think these footnotes keep growing?? Because people keep finding something to complain [OR SUE!]about that they "weren't told before they bought the car". THAT, I believe, is Bartkat's point (of course, he will correct me if I misinterpreted). tex2670, Have you ever sat in an automotive focus group? I have. What do you think is the primary reason that Toyota has risen to the top manufacturer in automotive history?? Any clues? One primary reason.... they asked the US average American car buyer what they DISLIKED about their cars.... Yes... it was the "complainers", the cool-aid drinking, bitching and whinning people that they listened to!! Those people changed the perspective of what the average car owner wanted - at least for some of the Japanese auto makers. So.... you should be happy and thankful that there are people who will express their "negative", non-manual reading, "fine print reading", opinions about their a cars and trucks!! The fine print and growing list has nothing to do with disclosure!!!! This is what it has to do with...... http://www.mycarstats.com/auto_RECALLs/LEXUS_RECALLs.asp ALL LEXUS MODEL RECALL CAR REPORTS QTY MODEL CAR QTY MODEL CAR LEXUS ES Recalls 1 LEXUS ES 330 Recalls LEXUS ES250 Recalls 9 LEXUS ES300 Recalls 1 LEXUS ES330 Recalls 2 LEXUS ES350 Recalls 5 LEXUS GS Recalls LEXUS GS 300 Recalls LEXUS GS 430 Recalls 6 LEXUS GS300 Recalls LEXUS GS350 Recalls 1 LEXUS GS400 Recalls LEXUS GS430 Recalls LEXUS GS450H Recalls LEXUS GS460 Recalls LEXUS GX Recalls LEXUS GX 470 Recalls 2 LEXUS GX470 Recalls 6 LEXUS IS Recalls LEXUS IS 250 Recalls 1 LEXUS IS 300 Recalls LEXUS IS 350 Recalls 1 LEXUS IS250 Recalls LEXUS IS300 Recalls LEXUS IS350 Recalls LEXUS LE300 Recalls 8 LEXUS LS Recalls 2 LEXUS LS 430 Recalls LEXUS LS 460 Recalls 11 LEXUS LS400 Recalls LEXUS LS430 Recalls LEXUS LS460 Recalls LEXUS LS460L Recalls LEXUS LS600H Recalls LEXUS LX Recalls LEXUS LX 470 Recalls LEXUS LX 570 Recalls LEXUS LX450 Recalls 8 LEXUS LX470 Recalls LEXUS LX570 Recalls LEXUS RX Recalls LEXUS RX 330 Recalls LEXUS RX 400H Recalls 17 LEXUS RX300 Recalls 4 LEXUS RX330 Recalls LEXUS RX350 Recalls 1 LEXUS RX400H Recalls LEXUS SC Recalls LEXUS SC 430 Recalls LEXUS SC300 Recalls 3 LEXUS SC400 Recalls LEXUS SC430 Recalls -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Or, as I'm sure one of you highly informed and self-educated fellow cool-aid drinking members will comment.... perhaps I'm drinking waaaayyyy too much cool-aid!!!!!!!! P.S. I keep waiting for the censorship, "this thread is closed".... "ban hammer" to appear!! :P I only thought that happens when some moron starts to desperately reach for some obscure point to cling to when they have been called out on what they think they know. And then they just start babbling on and on like a fool, completely off the original topic. I figure it's doing everyone including the fool who just won't learn to let something go a big favor by then.
  16. Unconstructive criticism of management/moderators actions and statements will get you a long way on most any forum, be it automotive or otherwise. Did you ever stop to think that many or even most of the Toyota/Lexus TSB's might be preemptive fixes, just to keep the brand quality up? I expect many other manufacturers might just let things like that go and never put out a bulletin, or at least keep them in house, until of if they resulted in numerous or major problems down the road. So maybe the number for "our" cars might be higher than some other brand for that very reason. Actually, I was quite impressed by the number for Lexus. GM had 1700, Ford had over 2k, Dodge had over 1k, even BMW was 6 times higher than Lexus. MB didn't fair very well, and I was surprised to see Lexus beat Acura also. Of course I'm sure someone who thinks they know something is going to point at Kia and say Ah ha! as I'm sure they already knew that the list is from 1990- present, and seeing as how Kia didn't incorperate until 1992, and thier first import to the US was in 1994, of which they only had the Sophia and that small SUV, (I forget the name) oh yeah, Sportage, which didn't sell until 1996, and then of course Kia went Bankrupt in 1997, and was bought out by Hyundai. But hey, they have fewer "recalls" then Lexus, so they must be a better car mfgr who listens to thier customers better. And I'm sure they get great tire longevity on thier models. So, therefore all the laws of physics are just crap and meaningless because if Kia can do it, then why can't Porsche? I mean Ferarri. Oh, sorry, we were just talking about Lexus here right?
  17. Theres the list!! Thanks! Wow, those are some pretty expensive neighbors!
  18. It's all going to depend on what your looking to do with the motor. If your thinking forced induction, ie. turbo or supercharger, then AEM and Haltech are going to be your best bets. They both have a good support network and alot of tuning shops are familiar with their setups and maps for tuning. even the PB AEM (which I used on my IS 300 when I put the turbo on was excellent. Idle was perfect, and the ECU take over was almost seemless, but not perfect. If you run a full stand alone then it's perfect, but the stand alone can get pricey. I don't know if you know or will be doing your own tuning or if you have a shop your using. But typically, if your installing a turbo or sc, then I would just have them do the ecu work as well. And let them install the ECU they are familiar with for tuning. I've had some experience with Unichip and Super Chips. But those are different piggy back platforms than what I was talking about with AEM and Haltech. If your not going fi, then I wouldn't really bother with this, and djspawns suggestion of the Apexi Neo is a great idea. It's more of a monitoring system than a programmer, but it's much better than nothing at all. And the SRT suggestion is also a good alternative, as it does alter the AF settings somewhat to accomadate the intake set up they have, but it isn't adjustable for any other mods you may be looking at, not that I actually think you need to if all your going to do is exhaust and intake anyway. And if your looking for a handheld ECU programmer that you just hook into your ODB II port and download altered settings like say on a Ford, to my knowledge, they don't exsist for Toyota, Nissan, Honda and the likes.
  19. Anyone keeping track of the top 25 times on the lap? I keep meaning to freeze frame the DVR and write em down, but I always forget to. Where did the GTR land?
  20. So you didn't sign an acknowledgement informing you that the car came with peformance tires and what that means? I do realize that performance comes with a price and am willing to pay for it if it's necessary. Just looking for some suggestions from people that may have some more experience and it seems that you have obviously do. So I thank you for your comment. That was really helpful! I asked the question I did because in your post you stated: So I was just trying to clarify here that it doesn't sound like you have a problem with the car. It's not like you have been driving the car misaligned, straight from the dealer and as a result have excessive tire wear. The tires on the car don't even come from the Bridgestone factory with a mileage warrentee. Here's the reviews on the tire, note, everyone has gotten about 20k miles on these tires no matter what car they were on: bridgestone Potenza So it's not the cars fault. And I think the dealership performed this service for the OP as a courtesy, and wrote it off. I promise Lexus never got that bill. So how are you going to get them to perform a "warrentee" alignment on something that isn't broke? You got 17k miles on tires that are rated to get about that. Your really in the middle of the pack here. Where you should be. If you want tire that last longer, then get tires that last longer. So I would ivestigate the Goodyear Response Edge tires. I would also consider Avons or Michelins. I've heard some good things about that tire. There are a few others as well, but just keep in mind, you'll be giving up quite a bit for a longer lasting tire. I hate that mushy steering feeling. But if your ok with that, then you can save a few bucks I guess.
  21. So you didn't sign an acknowledgement informing you that the car came with peformance tires and what that means?
  22. Oh I love these kinds of threads!! Got any pics of the car?
  23. That's my point. I think it is relatevly cheap to purchase used 350 engine from some dealer, and just throw it in car. I guess tranny is same, and propably ECU does not any changes at all. I know that toyota ECU is capable to manage relatevly big changes at engine. I currently has supra TT with 2jz-gte and that ECU easely at least manage big boost changes. SO difference with bigger engine is bigger air flow etc.. My real intrest is also that O2 sensor model what is at is350 copared to is250. It might be just same sensors in place. Possible injectos are different also. So after all it might be also true that whole ecu need to put from is350 also. Does somebody know tranny model at is250 and is350. Ans if diff has diffenet ratio. -Pekka I don't think you understood my post.
  24. Best show ever. For some reason they hate Lexus though, except the ISF. I thought they loved the IS 350 and hated the ISF?......no? Anyway, who cares, even the ISF in it's first year wasn't that far behind a car that has had 30+ years to evolve. I don't think that's to bad. But it's funny to hear thier opinions on different car mfgrs. and models. Apparently they aren't that hot over Audi's either.
