  1. Probably an Altezza grill. Try L-tuned.com and look there.
  2. I parted mine together, but I know all the parts I need and where to get em. If your not familair with it all, then yeah, get a kit. SRT makes a good one, so does HKS and there are a few others. And yes, the kits will be in the 5k range.Remember, You get what you pay for.
  3. Yeah, I agree. It's like the seatbelt law. I agree that seatbelts are good , and save lives and all that, but you become a criminal if you don't wear one? That's just dumb. And besides, making the mpg higher on a car won't save any gas, we'll just drive more, so what's the point? Gas has tripled in price in last 5 years. Nobody I know drives any less because of that. And let me tell you something about the NRDC. 20 years ago I was part of the DNR for Wisconsin. Warehouser in partnership with the DNR, and the state of Wisconsin, to developed a plan to "cycle" tree cutting. We clear cut over 650,000 acres of trees over a 15 year period. a Pine tree takes 15-20 years to fully mature. Based on consumer needs, they determined how much would be needed to account for supply and demand, and so, now, they start at one end and cut the trees down and replant seedlings as they go. so by the time they get to the end, the trees they planted in the beginning are now fully developed, so they can start all over again. they now have not cut a single tree down that they haven't replaced. As opposed to the rain forest where they clear cut and leave nothing. Yet, every year, the NRDC, and a few other groups would go to the future pine plantations and drive metal spikes into the trees so when the lumber crews came along they would hit it with thier chain saws and I saw alot of very bad accidents!!! People were hurt badly. And all they were trying to do was help the forest by putting into action this reforestation project that now saves literally tons of trees every year, because they are now so well into the cycles. These groups can sometimes just not understand, and get behind a good idea in the wrong light.

  5. What I think is funny is that they use Toyota skids in reliability as the title. But really they are talking about the Camery. If you scroll down on the page and click on JD powers says Buick ties Lexus for number 1, they have a chart that shows Lexus leads in five catagories and a Toyota product leads in 10 of the 19 catagories. And the reason the Camery is taking a beating right now is because Toyota was trying to get into Nascar and become competetive, so they have had to make alot of changes to that model so it can qualify for the Nascar platform. It's not easy to build a car that falls apart and doesn't sell very well like all the other cars that have to qualify for Nascar! And then build a "stock" car that nobody else can get. LOL!!!! I know, that was a cheap shot, but the changes to get competitive in Nascar are true. I think alot of the traditional Toyota Camery buyers just aren't as happy with the new model.
  6. ?????????? Okay, I understand you might be confused on navigating the site, but with posts like this you have everyone else confused with what your saying !!!! dcfish, do you still have that link available for beginners? I think I found it. Here, move your mouse over this and click on it. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting
  7. Lextacy.com has some hard tofind parts, but they do make you pay for them. If you look around you can find some other options. Autoanything has a mesh style grill I liked. And there are some others out there.
  8. There are several turbo kits available. there aren't any supercharger kits that I know of that use the modified ecu mapping in the 04 or 05 Is 300. there were some slight changes made. So you can find a couple of supercharger kits if they still make them for the 01-03 IS 300 only. Other than that, you will have to put all components together if you want one. Which isn't too bad, but the last time I made the mounting brackets for a supercharger there allways seemed to be an issue with the belts. We never fully resolved the issue to really know if it was the mounting brackets that were causing the problem or if the supercharger was having pully issues which kept causing the belt issues we were having. After talking to some others with centrifugal superchargers we thought maybe it was a problem inherent with the charger, but like I said, we never really found out for sure.
  9. Just fix the exhaust leaks first.
  10. and also, just cleaning or replacing your 02 sensors can increase your gas mileage. Or should I say having bad or dirty 02 sensors can hurt your gas mileage as they could be sending an incorrect message to the ecu to make the af mix richer, thus burning more fuel.
  11. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
  12. Okay, well here's my set up : These are the two Alpine V power amps These are the AVIC screen shots. The 30 gig ipod sits in the glove box with direct interface. Very cool! I can watch movies off it, and the Avic has all the ipod functions on the screen, so I can access all my playlists and everything like I were using the ipod. And here is the subwoofer: And I have full use of my trunk.( The pic doesnt show the metal grill over the speaker so I can use the entire trunk.) And I have Polk Audio Momo compititions for the doors, tweeters and rear deck 6x9's.
  13. Jesus, bro, wat up? so, what did you have in mind? Have you seen anything you like? Have you tried going to tire rack .com? There you can "change view" and put you car up on the site, and pick the color of your IS. Then you can switch the rims and see what they look like on your car. I think they have something like 134 different styles to choose from that all fit the car. surely you will atleast find a set that you like.
  14. Thanks bud85pk. I live in Orlando. FT Lauderdale is not too far. A couple hours.
  15. Yo, that's actaully a really cool location!!!! I don't smoke anyway. so dude, I think you may have something there!!! HHMMM,
  16. I've been reading up on this thread. There are a couple of small misconceptions, and few facts that just need to be straightened out. First, while the supercharger does still obtain boost quicker then a turbo, the new ball bearing design, along with the improved impeller designs spool up faster than ever before. And with all the latest technology out, such as boost controllers and better engine mapping, the turbo has come a long way in a very short time. When HKS introduced the very first commercial consumer add on Turbo, it was a very crude design, yet still raised the bench mark considerably. The Supercharger is an effective power adder. I have superchargerd several cars and trucks. The thing is as mentioned there are several types of superchargers. While the Whipple design offers boost sooner in the rev range, it's a very ineffeceint design. And it requires more lbs. of boost to obtain the same HP as other designs. Also, they are different in that the PSI is actually created in the cylinder as opposed to in the unit itself. ( A centrifugal creates the psi in the unit and the air is forced into the cylinder. Think of a compressor, The Whipple type is like the compressor motor packing air into the reserve tank. A centrifugal and turbo is like opening the air hose on the other end after the tank is compressed.) So, for daily driving as someone mentioned that a supercharger is better for daily driving. I disagree with that. As a turbo only kicks in when I want it to. If I drive normally with an even foot, then the turbo never even comes up. Where as the supercharger is a constant load on the engine. The belt is an additional parasitic drag that you lug around with you at all RPM's. Also, I can't tell you how many times I've had belt peel,( Where the belt spins up over the pulley) , and you allways have belt issues. Though they are continually working on a better belt). Some other things to consider, and this is probably the biggest misconseption I often see. No matter if you Turbo or Supercharge, the reliability issues, and problems allways come from...............................the tuner. Not the equipment. Most tuners just tune for horsepower and torque. The more they can show, the happier you are. Never mind that he leaned you air fuel mix to the edge of detonation, and advanced or retarded your timing x degrees to prevent instant explosions, and pumped the boost level to insane levels. That's where you run into issues. You have to know your tuner. And be able to comunicate that you don't want it tuned to squeeze out every last pony you can find. My set up is capable of alot more hp then I have it tuned for. So have it tuned with reliability and extended motor life in mind.( Which is another reason turbo is better,LOL!!) Of course we are talking about the 2 JZGE motor that comes with stock forged connectors and crank. And runs a 10:1 compression ratio. ( Funny note, both the Supra 2 JZGTE and the 2JGZE motors have cast pistons though.) So, in this set up, a turbo, supercharger, along with an intercooler and a few other periphrials, and your set. This motor has been proven time and time again to handle 3 to 4 times it's stock power output. If you want to go over 400 HP, then a tranny swap to either the V160, (10k $ Tranny!!!!), or the much more affordable V-161 or R 154. Then next thing I think tends to get alittle confused are two different types of enthusiasts. There is the car buyer. These like to just go out and buy a fast car or a nice car, or maybe even a nice fast car that someone else built. And then there is the car builder. This person likes to take a car, for whatever reason he likes that car, and transforms it into a vision. There are different levels of each type of person. A car buyer will obviuosly have to stay within his or her budget. and a car builder may do different levels of modifications on thier car. In all cases, I think you need to determine whether your a buyer or a builder. ( Personnally, I can't think of many nicer feelings than smokin a 150K Bentley GT with my little IS 300. Even better is the surprised look on that Mustang GT driver as I pull away like they were standing still!!!, Iv'e even had the pleasure of spanking a new IS350,,," BBBBUt I thought the new IS350 was faster???" LOL!) Anyway, back on subject, you can have turbo or supercharger and not give any reliability if you go about it the right way. Case in point, Porsche, Audi, and counltess others that use turbos very reliably, and Benz, and BMW and many others that use superchargers reliably. They are the same components, and in most cases, the aftermarket actually has a higher quality offering.
  17. hair ( I'm gettin old!!)
  18. I'm hoping it's SKperformance. In that case, Happy Birthday bro. If not, then that just means I don't know who you are, but happy birthday anyway. LOL!! ( Although I'm sure it is cause I haven't seen any other SK's around, but who knows.)
  19. Happy Birthday brother!!!!! And an October baby also?!?!?!?!
  20. Thanks everyone!!!! B) I've been away from the computer for a few days. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was hijacked and held hostage. But I'll be back on Wednesday. So, Thank you with a very swelled and humbled heart. I truly enjoy our conversations, and the people who make the LOC a great site. :D
  21. Maybe if you started watching !Removed! it with mini speakers ???? Gary Fisher
  22. Your welcome
  23. I don't think Hilary will either. I'm kinda hoping not as well. I am open to change, but thus far, I have been the most impressed with Fred Thompson. I have often admired his conviction, and the way he gets behind something he thinks is right. I think the whole moveon.org thing was silly for them to get wrapped in, and now they are attacking Rush Limbaugh for the "phony soldier" statement, and Obama isn't wearing the lapel flag pin anymore, etc.etc.etc. It's all crap!!!!!! And heck, the 2012 candidates are starting to campaign funds next week, and and Georgia wants to move up it's primaries now!!!! COME ON!!!! Oh, and hey, with the politicians running the war, we all already knew that would end in disaster, didn't we?

  25. Okay, you have to tell me what you have done so far. Trhe Lexus stereo system isn't compatable with most aftermarket units. The stock stereo runs on a 2 ohms, where most aftermarkets run on 4 ohm. Also the amp has a 6 volt trigger and won't kick on with a 12 volt signal like most after market head units send. So what have you replaced? and what are you keeping stock?
