  1. Okay, I just finished pulling the stock transmission, and torque converter out, and put in the new Turboeast Racebuilt transmission, and the level 10 torque converter. I will have pictures tomarrow. I figured a transmission looks like a transmission and a tc looks,,,well, sorta like a tc. LOL!! But anyway, I filled it with Amsoil ATF, started the car and went for the test drive. Results: The shifting is I would say is about 50% better. The tc, while they said it was a 3200 stall speed, I don't think it actually is. I think it's probly closer to 2500-2800 rpm. But without a tranny brake, it's hard to tell exactly. So, I'm gonna give it a few days and see how it plays out. I may have to readdress the tc later again. But, everything came out smoothly, and all the new stuff went in as it should. So there were no issues as far as that went. I will say that the shifting isn't all that harsh at all. I am suspicious as to how much internal "race building" this tranny went thru. From the list of mods that a race built tranny for this car goes thru, I would have expected more of a snap in the shift points. But it could be that the transission needs some "break in" time also. I will say that the e shift is way nicer now. It shifts on point now. No pushing the button and waiting. As soon as I hit it, the transmission shifts!! That I have to say is very cool!! I can really feel the torque and the pull of all the ponies now for sure. I don't have to wait till third gear to really get on it now. From a dig, the car starts out ok, tc locks up and the turbo spools, then the car shifts to second and I'm fully spooled and pulling strong now all the way thru the gears. I used to have to let off the throttle some to let the trans shift, then drop the hammer again, now it's pretty much floor it, and let the car do it's thing.
  2. Well, I can't tell you why it is the way it is, but some people can speed and drive like maniacs, and just seem to never get caught. And then there are those that get tickets for just thinking about speeding. So to those that can, they do, and for you, you can't, you get caught. So I would definately stop speeding. As for speeding in general, I have to say that I have been "traveling with the pack" at 80 to 85 before. I mean to keep it real, I know I-75 and the turnpike here in Florida are almost deemed " Audoban" status. There are times that 12 or 15 cars group up and pace 90-95 together all the time. It's even so bad at times that no matter how fast your going on the inside lane, someone behind you want you to move the hell out of thier way because they just want to be going faster than you it seems. I'm not in anyway justifying speeding, or breaking any laws for that matter. But I don't think Lexkid needs to be scholded like a child either. I mean heck, I've even shown some BMW's, Mercedes, and even a few new IS 350's what some good "internal work" on a Lexus can do ;) . The only difference I see in Lexkid from the rest of us is that he keeps getting caught. LOL!! (Sorry Lexkid, but no matter how I spin this, it's funny.) I have often wondered about the whole speeding thing anyway. I mean, the way the law is set up, and with technology where it's at, you could almost swear that it's really a game. If your smart enouph, lucky enouph, or just good enouph, then it just seems like it's ok to speed. Law enforcement gets radar, and we get radar detectors, they get radar detector detectors, and we get stealth VG2, so they get Laser. I mean come on!! But if you get caught, then you have to pay. I mean, why make cars able to go 155+ mph then? If the government can make a law to wear a seat belt and force the auto manufacturers to have safety devices on thier car, pollution control devices, and even fuel econemy requirements, if they were really serious about speed enforcement, then why not require a lower top speed limiter. Almost all car manufactures have them on the cars now. On my IS 300, it's electronically limited to 155 mph. You say, well, they could limit your car to say 85 mph. But you can still do 80 in a 35, so you can still speed. Wrong. They have a system where the speed limit sign can electronically communicate with your car and tell it to ba able to go no faster than XX speed while your in that zone. You can still drive slower, and have full control, but the car will only go as fast as the speed zone allows. But I'm pretty sure everyone has "raced" someone to the exit ramp, or to the lane we know ends and merges into the other. I know very few people actually follow the speed limits. I find it hard to do 35, I don't know, it's just to slow. And is it only me, but there seem to be huge speed limit fluctations along some highways, like the speed limit will be 70 mph, then it drops to 55 mph while your in the city limits, then goes back to 70 mph again. Man, doin 55 after like really cruising along at 75-80 mph, seems like sooooooo slooooooow again. Your perception of speed is still going 80. I'm not saying that is what happened to Lexkid, but I guess I'm just saying, we all do it to some degree, it sucks when you get caught, LOL, really sucks when you get caught twice. I would really try and not get caught again, ie, not speed for awhile. Let your record get some time repair. Pay the ticket. Move on.
  3. Instead of using the AEM stand alone, which is $$$$, you can now use the AEM fic which is $$, and works awsome. I use it on my turbo application. It's a piggyback, but it doesn't mess with the idle at all. even light load and cold start are uneffected by it. They just came out with it less than a year ago, but it's by far the best one yet. I think you can get one for less than 500. If you go to my Modifying an IS 300 Dream Ride thread at the top of this forum, I have the info there along with pics.

  5. I don't think your gonna have any issues with 45 mm. I think the standard fitment is 40 mm, 42 mm, and 45 mm at 8'' wide rims. 225/40/18 is right. So you should be good to go.
  6. So, you have deleted the catalysts then. You will need to change them out to 02 simulators. You will probably need to add a spacer to the rear sensor as well, but that may be only if you keep having this issue after you change to the 02 sims, because you don't have those cats there anymore.
  7. I'm not exactly sure about the GS 300 stereo system specs. But I do know that the Metra Harness is available at Circuit City. You do need to do some wire mods to it, but it does work. And don't be upset about bypassing the stock amp. The Poineer is actually a better sounding system. I have the Avic D3, but I replaced the entire stereo system with new amps and speakers, and a sub system.
  8. Well, the ODB II codes you have there are pretty self explanatory. What did you need help with?
  9. Have you tried setting up auto pay through your bank? I do it that way. 1 week before the payment goes out, I get an email notice saying that the payment is preparing to be sent, on the day I have it set up to be paid, I get an email saying the payment has been sent. Costs me nothing, not even the stamp, and the mortgage co. gets a real check. I pretty much pay all my recurring bills that way.

  11. Well, Looks like I'm going to try and get a Lexus owners meet put together. Right now everything is tentative, and will be firmed up over the next couple of weeks as I get feedback from everyone. I own a business on Kirkman Rd. near Metrowest in Orlando. The parking lot is more than large enouph. So we won't have to worry about being harrassed at all. The dates I'm working on are 12th or 19th to make it a Saturday evening thing, or the 13th or 20th to make it a Sunday evening thing. Everyone with a Lexus is welcome. I'll post this in the General Discussions also. Please put up a "registration" post on this thread and let me know and give some feedback. Looks like I have some interest already with MY.IS guys, and CL looks like this could be a huge turn out. We'll see. Hopefully the word will spread.

Don't forget to set the avic to charge the ipod while connected, so you never even have to recharge or worry about the ipod battery dying on you. And on your ipod, go to the video menu and select video out. That way you can watch movies from the ipod on the avic. The ipod/avic combo is just way to awsome...Your gonna love it. 19. go here http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.php they have a good selection there. But you might want to shop around for pricing.
  20. You can forget turbo with a 2k budget. That's not even a quarter of what your gonna need to get started. Any "good" turbo kit is gonna start at 5k. Then install is gonna be around 2k. Then your gonna need to have it tuned. And then your gonna need to buy boost gauges, boost controller, and all that jazz. On top of that, your gonna need to upgrade the torque converter and tranny, that alone is 2k minimum. And you should upgrade your suspension and brakes to handle the extra power safely. I would suggest you either save up atleast 10-15k before going this route, or consider a good cold air intake, exhaust and header, then invest in an upgraded programmable ECU system and get na tuned, or sell your car and buy one that has a turbo on it already, or is in the hp range your looking for.
