  1. suppliments I got some left over meatloaf I made into a sandwich with some mayo. Not bad! :)
  2. Seeing as how your car was repainted, maybe just have a place repaint it again with out the emblems on. Maybe kill both issues. If you just put that emblem back on, and the paint is peeling now, the paint would have probably peeled up in awhile anyway. Then you can just keep the emblems off and the car will be repainted the right way in that area. Just a thought.
  3. Food!!! Hey, I'm hungry. Think I'll go see what's in the fridge.
  4. see, I tod you... ^_^
  5. Depends. If you use a header that has a catalyst system in it, then yes, but that would be a Toyota OEM replacement. All the aftermarket headers are full flow and no catalysts, so you will have to sim the 02 sensors then.
  6. Is it a switch or a button? could be an old service reset button? Push and hold it down for a few seconds see if the light on the dash or info resets.
  7. dcfish can hook you up with that. PM him.
  8. PM Bartkat. He's a moderator here and has it I think.
  9. The Avic for the money is the best head unit out there. It does everything, and does it well. Looks great. It has Nav, plays movies while driving, plays and controls your Ipod, runs another monitor, plays every music format, Sirius, XFM, 8 track player, and has 4 different coffee brew settings. It has Bluetooth and back up camera with auto reverse on, it even changes red traffic lights to green upon approach!!! But that is an additional accessory and needs to be set up by a proffessional. You do have to be careful though. If you hit menu, then select nav while turning up the volume at the same time, the car could blow up, so I've heard anyway. So to sum it up, it's the best unit out there. Period. It's gonna take some time for the rest of the mfgrs to catch up to the Avic.
  10. Megan makes a good header, and Mazzuri just dropped the price of thiers. Sims are the the process of simulating proper reads for the 02 sensors that are located in the exhaust line. You have a bank 1 and bank 2 02 sensor in the catalysts, and another sensor in the catalytic converter in the down pipe. They read exhaust temps and nox levels to make sure everything is operating correctly. It's those 02 sensors that are sending the code to the ECU which is causing the cel light on your dash. If you don't want to replace the cats or header, then you can also just sim the sensors. But eventually you will start to hear the cats rattle if they are indeed bad. 80k miles huh? and bad cats,,,,you been pumping regular grade gas in the car?
  11. I would do a search on this forum, as we have had some very detailed discussions on this topic.
  12. 4.50 a gallon!! dayum! Yeah, I would be lookin for gas saving also. If your super serious about saving money on gas, then I would also pull the water pump, and just remove the internals. Then put an electric water pump on it. That will free up the higher rev parasitic drag, and have a nice gas saving side effect. I have a Mezziere. that I swear by and will outlast the car.
  13. leaner :o
  14. Hhmm, sure why not. See if everyone even wants to do this...?

  20. We aren't talking real truth here, we are talking about the perception of truth. Never mind that Hyundai is a good or bad quality of car. SW, your in real estate yes?, so when a client says they drive a BMW, or a Lexus, you can't help but conjure or associate that with an image. And when they say they drive a Hyundai, what image comes to mind? That's what I'm talking about. It's that image in your head as your signing papers for a 36K car. I just think it's a touph sell. Maybe as the years go by. This model definatley will need a couple years of no issues, and great reviews, and btw, awsome gas mileage as the V8's are not looking good for the future again as we grow accustomed to the higher price of gas and are realizing that it isn't going back down. All the other mfgrs are coming out with fuel efficient versions and hybrids. Hyundai introduces a brand new V8!!!! Timing. We'll see huh?
  21. That may be an issue. If the car was repainted. But easily solvable. Just pull the emblems off with the adhesive remover slowly. then wipe the area down real good, You may have an outline left on the car to deal with. I would use adhesive remover and wipe the area firmly, then use cleaner wax and buff that area by hand real good to see if you can get it all off. If you notice a pigment difference or the outline is really noticeable, you can allways reglue the emblem back on. Maybe paint them while they are off and then reattach them?
  22. LOL!! I'm glad your honest. But I still think there is more to it than that. It's all about reputation and quality. When Toyota, Nissan and Honda went Luxo, they had that to point at. Tell me where Hyundai has a reputation of quality and innovation? In every magazine I have ever read, they are allways sucking wind and getting bad reviews. So much so that most don't even review them anymore. If I bought a 14K car and a handle broke off, well, ok, or a swtich went out or there was a strange buzz in the plastic. But for 36K, the fitment had better be on, and the feel had better be good. I'm talking in the interface areas. Last year, Hyundai didn't finish in the top of any catagory, and now in one year, they expect people to forget all that and shovel 36K out for 380 hp? That might get a few kids to look at the car, and maybe a few adults that don't know any better. But most are familiar with the Hyundai name. I just don't know of alot of people who feel trading inthier current car is a trade up for a Hyundai. Never mind the model. It's the Hyundai name. I have freinds that drive Dodge Stratus's that feel it's a down grade to a Hyundai!! Come on.
  23. So, when are you planning to move up to the new Hyundai? :)
  24. Well of course they are serious. But in business, we all know, timing is everything. Back then, luxury was viewed as a completely different ideology as it is today. Back then you had huge Cadillacs, monster Lincolns and big Mercedes Benzes. You could steer a 4400 lb. car with your pinkey, and steering feedback was like the blind trying to read a newstand magazine. Acura, Lexus and Infinity weren't trying to make a Cadillac, they developed a whole new perception of luxury. And we were primed for it. We had budget, small cheap and underpowered, or we huge floating goliaths with not much to choose from inbetween. If Hyundai were to make this car and fully loaded it was like say 25k, and base model started around 19 or 20K, then it would fit into thier image. I'm not exactly sure what the base model sells for, and what a fully loaded version sells for, but if it starts at 30K and finishes at say 36k, I hate to say it, but you would be a fool to buy it considering the company that is in.
  25. there is actually alot more to the numbers than they appear. Lets say you have a 4 cyl and a 6 cyl that both produce 200 hp. and very close in torque. Just knowing those numbers isn't really enouph. You have to look at the power curves. The 4 cyl. may make 200 hp at 5800 rpm, and redline at 6500 rpm. while the 6 cyl may make 200 hp at 4200 rpm and redline at 6000 rpm. Hence the 6 cyl. may be faster in a car of the same weight and gearing. It makes more power earlier in the rev range, and has a higher AVERAGE HORSEPOWER. That's what is called usable hp. I can give you a really good example of this. I have a freind that has a 98 Honda Civic that is putting down 700 rwhp. It's a 2.0 liter 4 cyl. and a huge turbo. My IS 300 with 430 rwhp walks away from him and keeps pulling all the way down the street. It drives him insane!!!! But he's front wheel drive, and only really makes 700 hp for like a second or two before he has to shift. While the IS 300 hits it power curve at 4200 Rpm and just stays in it all thru the gears. Next you have mass. The more mass you have, the more hp you need. ( and bigger brakes, LOL!) I rarely see street cars go for mass reduction. You really have to remove alot to see some significant weight reduction. IMHO, you need to drop 250 lbs. to even begin to feel the difference. But, if you couple this with the next speed factor, it can really start to add up. Which brings us to parasitic drag on the motor. Remember, all mfgr. horsepower specs are off the crank, and not at the rear wheels. So things like clutch fans, power steering, a/c components water pumps and alternators add alot of additional load to motors. and that amount is not equal among all manufactures. And also remember, that some car mfgrs have to keep costs in line. So sometimes depending on the market they are trying to appeal to, they can take a motor that is already in the line up and alter it to fit thier needs. So they may detune a preexsisting motor or tune one up more to fit the bill. Beleive it or not, some people actually complain that a car has to much acceleration and is hard to control off the line. I know, silly, but true. And it seems everyone wants smooth shifting trannys. So that really limits the amount of hp they can send thru it, which then means they don't have to make more hp, which then leads to better fuel mileage, and so they look good for it. You have to remember that when they first built the IS 300, they were at the top of the power curve for import cars then. Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and their associate companies had a sort of Gentlemans agreement to keep the hp around that figure. That's why the old Supra's said they produced around 245 hp, but that figure on the dyno showed it was really like 320 hp. Then Nissan came out with the 350Z, and the gloves are starting to come off now, as the European mfgrs such as Merc, BMW and Audi have stepped up the hp also.
