  1. For some odd reason, my cigarette lighter has stopped working, which poses quite a problem for my cell phone charger. The fuse is not blown, but power is not getting where it needs to... any suggestions?
  2. You don't have to be rich to DRIVE in one of those... if I'm correct, that's Kent's car, which I've had the pleasure of riding around in here in the Austin area. It was great...
  3. What has happened is that the connector within the door panel that controls the memory buttons and mirror circuit switches has come unplugged. You'll have to remove the door panel and plug this back in (tape in on there). Same thing happened to me!
  4. So some *WQ(*@*(&@#*()$&*(@#&$(^@#%&^@#$&()&%*(#$&*(&&*$^%&*(^@#$ @#*$@&*#^$&*@#^$&*@#$ good-for-nothing *(&!^*%^@#*^@*#&$)@# ran into my SC300 (you know, the one that I just had repainted and diligently made a custom front license plate for the front) while parked in a ritzi area of West Austin (the rich part!). They didn't bother to leave their contact information, and no one was around to spot the fiend. The police were worthless... as they tend to be on such issues, so now I'M stuck with the bill to get my baby fixed. Anyone know of an excellent, yet not over-priced repair shop in the Austin area? Thanks for your tips, suggestions, breaking-the-legs-of-the-runner, etc.
  5. Yes, yes, I know: the '93 SC300 doesn't have fog lights. They're instead OEM as cornering lights. How cute. Well, my '93 SC300 DOES have fog lights, thanks to a recent conversion. But now I'm looking to upgrade the lenses... would 1995 SC300 fog lamps fit into the holes where my converted cornering lights currently go? I think the advantage would be that the real OEM foglamps will spread light in a better pattern. Am I wrong?
  6. I used some black majic on the seal, and it fixed right up.
  7. OK, so here's what the Texas law has to say: The word "Texas" must be visible AND uncovered by rims, lenses, plastics, etc. So I ask ya'll... can you all read the word Texas? : ) Here's my new fix, which is much prettier than the previous do (as discussed in the first post of this list: hanging down from the bottom lip of the front spoiler). Just as a side note: The plate now measures 3.8" tall (as compared to the standard 5.?"). I folded the plate on precision using a firm piece of plywood and a pair of welder's pliers. I'm happy to say that this as close to Europe that I've ever been : )
  8. My '96 LS400 stalls all the time at stoplights, but only after it engages fourth gear. For some reason, my baby doesn't want to come out of fourth gear after cruising, so sputters out at stop lights. My solution: always keep her in third, except cruising. ...or your fuel filter has gone bad : )
  9. 1) My 1996 LS400 indicated that I have a tail light out. I temporarily fixed this ailment by unplugging and replugging in all the lights (there apparently was and now still is a bad connection). Try replacing all the bulbs... maybe one of the contacts is poorly conduction. 2) Take it to someone else or send it to me... I don't mean to solicit services, but I have doctor's hands and a variety of VERY SMALL screw drivers that are perfect for opening this sort of equipment (I service computers as my day job). Just send me a private message so we don't clutter this message board. 3) I did the conversion from cornering to fog lights on my '93 SC300 and had to take most of the front plastics off (not worth the added light). You may have to do the same : ( GOOD LUCK!
  10. I used a relay and switch from RadioShack... the switching looks nice, and all the wires leading to and from the relay (including to the "fog lights") are absolutely beautiful. However, the gained visibility from this modification was hardly worth the effort that went into the installation. BTW: I'm using 100W Xenon lamps for the "fog lights." P.S.: This conversion is best left undone... No pictures for a while: My digital camera broke : (
  11. Do you mind telling me the seller's name? I don't like purchasing "xenon" bulbs off of eBay, because you never know what you're going to be getting... if I puchase from the same person you did, I'd feel much better about the whole process. I am currently using some "xenon" bulbs (i.e. not real xenon) that were sold to me about six months ago, which were advertised as being the real deal... what a deal! They've only blown out, oh three times. Thanks so much! P.S. Your uploaded picture is corrupt!
  12. But then you have to live in Tennessee : ) I'm just kidding, it's very pretty up there!
  13. Is my horn supposed to sound on my '93? It doesn't... darn.
  14. In Texas, the plate cannot be behind a lense, clear plate, etc... including the windshield (I asked the cop at work)
  15. What you're seeing here (since the reflectiveness of this LOVELY plate washed out the rest of the picture). This plate is attached ("free hanging") to the front bumber, where the air-guiding black plastic meets the bumper. Should I just break the law?
  16. Oh yeah, here's the picture <DUH> : ) Please feel free to mention any quirky laws in North Carolina (spec. Durham), as I'll be moving there in six months. Thanks!
  17. So this story is less "out there," and more of an issue of legality. As some of ya'll might have seen from previous posts, my '93 SC300 & '93 SC400 lack(ed) front license plates for, oh ten years. As some of ya'll might also know (mainly Texans), our lovely state just passed a new law that says that not only do you have to have front plates, they must be CLEARY visible, with no borders, lenses, etc.... so I ask you: is this cleary visible? I attached the plate to the screws that hold the bottom skirt to the front bumper and hope that the airflow isn't critically hindered. I hate Texas laws!
  18. OK, so in the continuing chaotic story I like to call "Making my '93 SC300 act like a '97," I'd like to introduce ya'll to yet ANOTHER crazy idea... How would I go about making my car do the trademark Lexus <BEEP><BEEP> every time I lock and unlock my doors with the keychain FOB? Could I purchase the beeping unit from another year Lexus and connect it to my door lock actuator? Am I just wasting more time? ...why am I making life so hard for myself?
  19. I have the EXACT same problem... let me know your fix, personally, PLEASE! lexus.forum@installstuff.com THANK YOU SO MUCH!
  20. I read the words from that "switchremoval.jpg" and tremble in fear... "DISABLING SRS." No thanks. I'll go ahead and install an auxilary switch for my stock cornering lights (to become fog lights), using a relay, of course. Piece of cake, I just wanted it all to look stock. And P.S. Your interior DOES look beautiful!
  21. I may have to go ahead and add an additional switch (by the knee panel)... unless someone can show me how to get the light rod off - I'm pretty good at running additional wires. Any online guides for this procedure?
  22. My '93 SC300 has a built-in K40 Radar Detector that is adequate... the unit is below the dash (by your knees) with the detector installed in the front grille. By adequate, I mean: buy the dang Valentine! ; )
  23. Thanks so much! That picture was just what I needed to see... now all I need to do is find a '95+ control knob.
