  1. I know this is an odd request, but can someone with a post '94 SC post a picture of their fog light switch? Is it on the dash or the control arm? Do you think it could be added to my '93 SC? I've done the installation and can't figure out a presentable way to make the lights come on, other than changing the relays for the park lights and head lights (that is making all lights come on on the first click and then the fog lights on the second (normal) headlight setting). Am I wasting my time? Oh yeah, one last question: where are the headlight relays? Thanks!
  2. We Austinites have some nice cars as well... •Good ole Phil (http://www.fly-hawaii.com/lexustt/) has a very slick Turbo Lexus... •Clint Pohler (http://www.turboimports.com/clinpoh97t76.html), who is in fact an Austinite... •Me (ha ha ha)... I just wish I had a Twin Turbo setup... P.S. I raced an Audi S4 the other day and kicked its !Removed! with my SC300, but only because the S4 is limited to 125 mph. What a day -- what a rush!
  3. Here's my speech: My SC300 5-Speed and SC400 both have Open Differentials, and they'll leave beautiful burn marks when provoked... And yes, I can afford to leave tire-burn on the road! LOL : ) Can't we all just get along?
  4. I'll be in Durham next year (more than likely).
  5. I went on eBay and purchased a hardly-used steering wheel for $35.00 and paid $8.00 in S/H fees and installed it myself in just under two hours. Looks/feels/acts brand new!
  6. My "lamp out" light is on continuosly, too, but all of my bulbs work in both phases (that is with break depressed and relaxed). I've thought about replacing all of the bulbs, but then caught myself wondering: does it really matter if a bulb is "out"?!?!
  7. P.S. My '93 SC400 (although it has a faster top speed) seems a bit more clunky when you pass 100... maybe the transmission needs some TLC?
  8. I've done 141 in my 5-speed '93 SC300, headed northbound on Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360), crossing over 2244... it was a lot of fun! I honestly don't think this baby could go any faster without any mods... I guess the late 90's models had better performance specifications? As for handling: at high speeds my SC glides over the road like a jetski on smooth water. So much fun ( I can't wait until I can afford an SC430 ). In my honest opinion, the Lexus (at high speeds) is more fun to drive than my 2000 Trans AM (w/ RAM Air, WS-6, 6-Speed)... it at least handles better. There is no question, however, that the Trans Am is faster, has better acceleration, and grabs more attention than my SC. Just a thought!
  9. BTW: I know I use parentheses more than the average bear (I just have too much to say / have ADD). Can never let that mind stray too far, because that might cause an accident (although that SC430 behind me is very pretty. I'd better stare at it until I get one <CRASH>).
  10. So, I was at my local Fry's Electronics today, taking in the lovely scenery (especially the new Apple PowerMac G5's), when to my surprise, I saw 4" Polk Audio speakers for sale. They were the GXR4's, which had been marked down from $59.99/pair to $14.99. So I thought to myself: [self, that's a good deal... so what if the last pair of Polk Audio speakers you purchased freakishly destroyed themselves thumping to the likes of Bach and the electric grind of Beethoven's last syphony]. I purchased them - Installed them literally in the parking lot in about 15 minute with a rusty screw driver that I found a few months back on the side of the roa (what a find!). What a disappointment. I've heard paper cones that sounded better. Actually, the STOCK PAPER CONES sounded better. [Man!] I thought, [i just blew $29.98 + TX's ridiculously high 8.25% sales tax on a pair of cra... cruddy speakers]. So I took them back. They looked at me with a puzzled look, since the receipt was still warm from being printed just 30 minutes ere. Pros and Cons: GXR4's Pro: You can tell people that you've "upgraded your stereo system." Con: You can never, EVER, let people ride with you. Unless it's a "time to talk" ride (i.e. no listening to stereo). Pro: You can pretend that you've taken an active interest in your singing career when you do have to ferry a passenger around (by singing to hide the speakers UGHWKJEWLQUPOISSJDAL, of course). Con: Your passengers will soon realize that your life is pathetic and pointless (judging you only by your cover of that song you sang SO well). Pro: You can spend more time listeing as you crank through the ever-so-smooth five-speed (if you're lucky enough to have one). Con: You'll soon realize that you have no one who'll ever want to ride around with you (because of your voice). Pro: You'll soon realize that you no longer have anyone that wants to ride around with you (i.e. less weight <i.e. better acceleration>). Verdict: Do what I plan to do... by Bose speakers (don't whine about their cost! They're worth every penny.)
  11. If you DO remove those fog lamps, I'd love to purchase them from you (if they fit/can be fitted to my '93 SC300). I'm actually looking in to obtaining foglights because I live in the Hill Country, which translates to: WATCH OUT FOR DEER (I used to go out in my suburban and try to lower the deer population... all that did was make me hate them even more). Those B@$-turds. But I digress. Please email me at: lexusownersclub090803 <at> installstuff.com Thanks!
  12. So, I set up my 1993 SC300 with Xenon bulbs, hoping for that almost-HID effect (both oncoming and viewing); the results were great, now made even better by angling up the lens reflectors to agitate every oncoming vehic... I mean so I can see the road more clearly : ) But now I'm greedy for more (I am definitely male): I've decided to replace the cornering lights with fog lamps; I'm totally hooked on this idea. There are only two problems I face now: 1) Will the cornering light housing direct the 100W Xenon bulbs well enough? If not, can I use 1995+ SCX00 fog lamp holders (i.e. are they interchangeable with the '93)? 2) How will I switch these lights without piggy-backing off of the parking lights/side markers (i.e. how can I make them independently switched)? I'm afraid that if they're always on when any other exterior lights are on, my battery/alternator will never forgive me. I want whatever switch I decide to use to look OEM... could I possibly take the fog lamp switch from a late model SC? It's probably on the same lever that controls the current lights, correct? Thanks for fueling a mad-man's dreams...
  13. I don't want to sound suicidal, but where is this curve you speak of (I live near Cedar Park <Lakeway area>)... I'd love to give this turn a go around with my 5spd SC (for payback, of course). I've got a spoiler and some aftermarket shocks (which have greaty improved high speed maneuvering). I can relate to the luxury of crashing in a Lexus: I was driving with my brother in his LS400 (96?) when he decided to run that heavy hunk of metal into three trees and two utility poles in Davenport... even though the airbag didn't go off (GRR!!), I didn't receive a single scratch. I'm definitely going to get banged up when I TT my SC... I mourn for your loss, Reid Sullivan
  14. My car tilter is currently occupied (rebuilding the underside of a 1966 Corvette), so this is the best I could do for you right now. These are the underside of my 1993 SC300. If you need more photos, i have a 1993 SC400, too. Just let me know! Hope this helps... -- Reid Sullivan President, InstallStuff http://www.installstuff.com/ P.S. I know it's dirty...
