  2. I got mine last summer and they still work great
  3. Hi, Sorry: I do know what the ABS feels like when it kicks in. This symptom is similar to a click (finger snap, a tap on a piece of wood....)
  4. Hi Things are back to normal now (without me doing anything besides checking the wires on the driver side trunk hinge and the battery posts). There is one interesting symptom when happened: when I pushed the brake pedal, there was a loud click which could be felt thru the brake pedal AND the gearshift lever (if you put your hand on the lever, you could feel the click). 5. Hi, Check Autozone. I bought two pairs of hood struts for $15 each. Easy to install except for getting the old balljoint (filing or drilling): 15 mins max
  6. Thanks VMF for your quick reply! It is snowing here in Mpls. Hopefully, the car will be ok til I get home tonite
  7. Hello, It just happens this morning :( Everything on dash is fine until I push the brake pedal: The whole dash light instrument panel (speedo, rev, etc....) turns dark. When I release the brake pedal, the lighted panel comes back on. Could anybody help? Thanks VH 91 LS400 (136K)
  8. Hi, I was driving on freeway and suddenly, the Low Engine Coolant Icon lighted up. I stopped and checked the reservoir. Level middle of reservoir (below Cold level mark). Started engine and no icon light from then on. Any idea? Thanks VH 03 X5 4.4 99 ML320 91 LS400 92 Prelude 4WS0Si 91 Galant LS
  9. Hi, My ins. co. is Farmers. The glass company said they just did one (the owner was a Farmers agent on his own car) and he had to pay out of his own $150.00 Any help? Thanks VH
  10. Hi, Yes, that is the beauty of it: you just plug in the cigarette lighter and the cord for it is long enough for most cars (I tested on all my cars). The screen dimension from www.garmin.com is: 3.3" W x 1.7" H, 305 x 160 pixels; bright, automotive-grade 8-bit, 256 color LCD display with automatic dimming backlight and touch screen
  11. Hi, I have the Garmin 2610 and it is excellent ! I like: 1. The portability so that I and the family can use it in our different cars 2. The touch screen which is wonderful by using the rubber tip end of a pencil 3. The changing in color depending time of day 4. The changing of scale of the map as you get closer to the destination 5. You can get the unit for about $800 on the net For better response (especially the recalculation when you go past the directional advice), I am thinking of getting an external antenna. 12. Hi, :( Due to the weather we have here in MN, the tiny tiny stone chip in summer now produced a cracked line across the base of the windshield. The insurance said that the glass company would replace it. The glass company said that the model (91 LS400) would have a 'gray' replacement windshield. I have been trying to push them to give a Toyota/Lexus windshield but they seem to refuse it. How can I push them? Is it ok with the replacement? I notice that the original has a black line of dots all around the edge. Is it for decor or some kine of heating element? Thanks VH 91 LS400 (135K) 03 X5 (4K) 99 ML320 (33) 92 Prelude (55k) 91 Galant (136K)
  13. Also, make doubly sure that the battery terminals are tight and clean
  14. There was a post about starting: If the steering wheel moves (even slightly), the engine won't start. So try to start the car but do not make the steering wheel move. Good luck !
  15. 'Tis the season for a holiday cheer ! To every owner of the Lexus, Who holds their LS400 oh so dear For these cars besides being luxurious Bringing happiness to me and my peers !!!! Vy Hanh
  16. I use it for my ML320 and X5. For some reasons, one of the 2 (Topside) that I have works slower than the other.
  17. We should wait til they build the model where it has the rear garage and instead of carrying the 'S' Mercedes, the LS400 :D
  18. You are SO DARN lucky !!!!
  19. Hi, For both, I used Jiffy-Lube. They have the machines to do both. I bought the fluids (trans T-IV and red coolant) from Toyota dealer. Seems ok and smoother so far. I also purchased Denso Iridium sparkplugs and will change when weather ever gets warmer VH
  20. Yes, it is COLD. Non-windchill 8-10. In January/Feb, the non-windchill can get down to -5 !!! Thanks for the suggestion. I have to look real hard for a 'Siberian' grease.
  21. Hi, We have 0 (degree F) windchill here. My son's 91 LS400 has problem closing the trunk at first attempt. With several pulls of the trunk release tab, I eventually close it. Same with door (using the lock/unlock switch). Any similar problem ? Any solution? Thanks VH
  22. Hi, Thanks for keeping us in the loop. All the best to your 'new' toy. I think that the money was well spent ie. much more expensive if each problem was fixed individually.
  23. Hi, With (for example) the Prestone flush kit, it is hooked up to the heater hose. Can I ask where is this hose and what is the procedure overall? TIA VH 91 LS400
  24. Thanks VMF for replying quickly. I was thinking of doing it myself with a backflush kit but the main thing is it is too darn cold in the Twin Cities right now !
  25. Hi, I posted earlier about topping my coolant reservoir with the green stuff and somebody (I also read elsewhere) said that I should not mix and should do a complete flush and replace with Toyota coolant. I just called Jiffy Lube and they charge $49.99 if I bring my own. What do you guys think? TIA Vh
