My 90k Scheduled Maintenance Story
Lexlogic replied to abackhus's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Lexus dealer wanted $987.00 for 60,000 mile maintenance on my 2000 ES300, so I took it to an toyota / Lexus Independent for $398.00. Shopping around or getting information from word of mouth can save alot. -

Lexlogic replied to coolwater's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Last month ago, I put out the cabin filter and did not notice that there were two part filters. I better go back in and try to put the one stack on top of the other. The one I have could be clean and vaccum dry. Thanks -

2000 Es300 Transmission Gone After 131,500 Miles
Lexlogic replied to Jeanette's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Now you got me thinking! I just had a 60,000 miles service (actual mile 62,000), before taking the car for service, I notice from reverse to drive, a delay in shifting. The independent Toyota/Lexus service said that the fuild was very drity ( I complained about the shifting before they started). While driving the car for two weeks, the delay shifting from reverse to drive is gone. I don't have to step on the brake that long as before. But I was told to drive it for 1500 miles for a flush / drain transmission fluid again. Back in my mind perhaps they want to squeeze more money from me. I am getting a second opinion from a transmission specialist from the BBB directory. Thanks guys for all inputs. transmission replacement can be expensive. -

1991 Es-250 Wont Start [tried Everything] Need Help Fast
Lexlogic replied to mr_valdez's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Check timing belt if broke off. Open the plastic cover forward of the engine and look inside. Should you get any code if the engine is not turning or transmit any signal from the ECU?? I wonder if the repair manual has anything to say. Someone here should know. -
Do I Need A Vise For Struts?
Lexlogic replied to backwoods lex's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
If you were in San Diego, Ca. I would be happy to help you! All the members recommendation to get monroe senatrac's is not too expensive and alignment is a must forward and rear. Take the time to look around town for a good Mechanic with reasonable labor charge. Beware that there is a strut mount assy with bearing that holds everything together could be worn out. Cost $68.25 ea. Do you really have a 2000 ES300? I wonder if my struts are bad too? This link is helpful for the rear Strut Click Here -
Do I Need A Vise For Struts?
Lexlogic replied to backwoods lex's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Struts comes off the car as a whole assy includes the spring. To separate the spring from the strut, spring needs to be compressed. The rest of the replacement procedure should be found in a repair manual. There is a safety note should be followed. Repair shop charge 60.00 per axle (per side) and alignment is recommended. -
Most probably bank 1 or 2 O2 sensor unless label under hood specifies california EPA compliance. If complies with CA standards the sensor is an air/fuel ratio sensor (same location as O2 sensors). I recomment getting parts from CarQuest and instaliing yourself or having independent garage install. You will save tons on part and labor. The CEL must be turned off be erasing code. Hope this helps! Here is a short link to P0171

Sorry! I took notes and try to share it to whom needs help. I did not know where I copy this information from but do you have picture that could be share to this 98 ES300 problem. Thanks

According to the 2000-2001 ES300 repair manual, here are the trouble areas for the P0171 error code: - air induction system - fuel injector blockage - MAF meter - engine coolant temp. sensor - fuel pressure - gas leak on exhaust system - open or short in Bank 1, 2 Sensor 1 circuit - ECM For most people who encounter this particular error code, the problem lies in the pre-cat oxygen sensor. There are 2 sensors located before the catalytic converter, and either one or both of them could be delivering a bad circuit. You're going to have to get the resistances tested with a multimeter and see if the resistance meets spec. That's what I would do to determine the bad sensor. Or if you prefer, you can take your car to an independent service shop who is familiar with Lexus/Toyota vehicles and get the sensor(s) diagnosed. Hope this info helps out

My code were P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1) The mechanic said stop buying cheap gas from COSTCO and suggest gas additive treatment into my gas tank. Chevron or shells gas station 91 premium grade only, he also adjusted the air and gas mixture screw. Throttle body need to stay clean too. This car comsume alot of gas 19 miles to the gal combine city and highway driving. Have found any solution to the oil surges? Lexlogic -
Welcome Lex! B) I owned a 2001 ES & the styling & tail lights helped my decision back then too. ;) Try doing a search on here, but the 2000 & 2001's are pretty darn reliable all things considered.......the only major issue is the oil gelling problems for the 98 - 01 model years. Do a search on that & you will be wll informed on the matter. Enjoy! Thank you, I took your advice on the "Search" oil gelling problems. I got hold of Sal"s Dad email. The important is to change oil regularly 3000-5000 mile and not just that but the type of oil to use whether Dino oil or the better grade oil on market. I will be searching for more information and post it for future members to read. Keep in touch!
