  1. According to the 2000-2001 ES300 repair manual, here are the trouble areas for the P0171 error code: - air induction system - fuel injector blockage - MAF meter - engine coolant temp. sensor - fuel pressure - gas leak on exhaust system - open or short in Bank 1, 2 Sensor 1 circuit - ECM For most people who encounter this particular error code, the problem lies in the pre-cat oxygen sensor (up stream). There are 2 sensors and either one or both of them could be delivering a bad circuit. When I replaced 2 sensors, cleaned MAF (recommend that MAF sensor is cleaned every 20,000 miles) and replaced air filter, the car gave me more power and less on Gas from 19 to 22.5 mpg. Or if you prefer, you can take your car to an independent service shop who is familiar with Lexus/Toyota vehicles and get the sensor(s) diagnosed. Hope this info helps out
  2. For code 0171 clean the MAF Sensor Click
  3. Look at this link IVAC cleaning is require, see attachment
  4. I had my timing belt replaced include water pump, themostat and fan belts $550.00 at Hi Tech Auto repair shop San Diego Ca. I know the dealer charge more and since they were the last one to work on it, they should diagnose the problem closely, free of charge. Replacing the Fuse several times indicate a serious problem.
  5. I do have the same model car 2000 ES300 wife loves driving this car everyday. We also own a home in Gulfport MS. Here is a link that could help you http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30723&hl=IACV
  6. Some clarification; When you say it won't crank, do you mean the engine will not turn over at all, or the engine will trun over but not start. When you say the lights and radio work are you saying that the battery is fully charged? Even if the lights are on and the radio works the battery can still be low enough to not have enough juice to turn over the engine. On the overdrive matter, not at all qualified for this , but don't see how your cranking problem could possibly be connected. If your starting your engine but will not stay on Idle then thottle body and IACV needs cleaning.
  7. Removing my cabin filter was never a problem.
  8. Checkout the price online air fuel sensor, original Denso $152.10. Bosch OE Identical O2 Sensor is cheaper. There also carry NGK product. I ordered Denso that came with 1 year warranty.

  10. I just got done replacing two Knock Sensors 3 weeks ago. it took me 9 hours. I replaced # 1, 3, 4, 5. the wiring harness were okay. Parts you are going to need: 1. Knock sensor 2. Knock sensor wiring harness 3. Intake gaskets 4. By-pass hose 5. Antifreeze Lexus quoted me a price of $224.00 per sensor. (The car has 2 sensors, if you’re going to go through the trouble of changing them, change them both!) RockAuto.com STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # KS81 $134 ea After several hours of bothering the hell out of the parts guy at Lexus he told me that the part number for the knock sensor I needed was 896145-12040. I ordered the intake gasket kit from rockauto.com for $56.79 this was a FEL-PRO part number MS92766 it came with all 3 gaskets. Also replace PCV STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # V313T $3.16 and rubber grommet STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # GV21 $2.72 The wiring harness and by-pass hose from Lexus because I didn't have the energy to go through the whole mess again. They charged me $42.00 for the harness and $18.00 for the hose. The Toyota part number for the wiring harness is 82219-07010 and the Toyota part number for the by-pass hose is 16261-20010. It took me 9 hours to change the knock sensors. It is not an easy job. Drain the coolant first. Then I removed the hood off the car. Then you have to remove the whole top half of the engine. My best advice for anyone that’s going to tackle this project is to get a small 1/4" ratchet with a swivel head. I used this to get to the intake bracket mount bolts (2), as well as the ground bolt and fuel line bracket bolt that are located behind the intake, there’s not much room back there but this saved me tons of time. You might as well change the spark plugs cause they are breeze to change with half the engine missing. Fuel injector rail stays with the intake manifold not to be separated. 11. I used a Haynes manual 1999-01 and paper clip. Then follow direction on page 9-4 Brake System. I own a 2000 ES300.
  12. I used the same shocks on my wife car, she's happy! But be careful with the ABS sensor wire, I fail to remove it. I had to get one from the junkyard after getting a check light. Disconnect the wire plug behind the rear seats.

  15. I would get AISIN Timing Belt Kit 1994-2001 Lexus ES300w/ water pump but I wonder where Flanso got those parts online? that's a better deal. And Flanso link procedures to remove and install the timing belt "Outstanding". I 'm saving a copy! RockAuto has AISIN Part # TKT004 (Only 2 Remaining) $215.00
  16. A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor. Clean the MAF Sensor with the correct spray solvent. Click CODE PO171
  17. that would be hiding the symptom and not curing the problem. belt dressings should never be used!! steviej Agree, no Fan belt dressing! Perform Fan Belt tension adjustment! And then Turn "ON" the AC and see if the Clutch is turning.
  18. This where I bought my Sensor Save 10% by entering coupon code "SAVE2009" when placing your order! (valid 01/01/09 to 12/31/09)
  19. I did a transmission flush on my Chysler town and country mini van after 3 months, had to replaced transmission. If the Dealer recommend flush go for it but I don't see it in the manual.
  20. Eli, Your car has cabin air filter equipped. The manual show you how to change it. Typically you have to remove the glove box door (about 4 screws) and the air filter is in behind and pulls straight out. Sometimes there are two, and after removing the first one, you slide the one on the right side over to where the first one was and pull it straight out as well.

Possible SolutionsPossible solutions include: In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure
