  1. I've had other 400's that i never noticed it( probably because i always had my stereo up) But that does put my mind at ease a little. I keep my fluids fresh aswell. Maybe it could be the oil weight. I have been using the same that i use in the warmer months....hmmmmmm good point;)
  2. Ok, maybe i just have a minor case of OCD, but i recently noticed this weird noise after startup and while it's cold( 19f. of colder). I can't describe it other than it comes from the back passenger side of the engine compartment and is a kind of on and off buzzing noise. It also dissapears after warm up. I'm a freak about mantaining my baby so i was wondering if anyone has heard the same noise, or any other that occurs only in the very cold weather? I'm probably overreacting, but please ease my mind. Is this just common for engines to react this way to the cold?
  3. I've noticed the same noise when it's very hot......or very cold outside, so i assumed it to be common. silicone lubricant on the plastic gear mentioned did the trick
  4. I love the LOC, however i need some help with a 95' avalon. I need to find out how to bypass a factory alarm kill switch b/c the lock cylinders are broke on both sides and i dont have a transponder to disable it......any help or reference to a good toyota forum would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU:)
  5. For what it's worth, i had the SAME initial thought at first sight......And i EAT, *BLEEP*, and BREATH Lexus products!!! They ARE Strikingly similar in the front. Creating a brand image is one thing, but for those shelling out a large amount of $$$ it should be easily distinguished from the ES........It's the FLAGSHIP for a reason;)
  6. Mine did that for a while. I kept tapping at it until the shock finally got it to open. Then I cleaned syrupy dry soda deposits off it and repeated the process until it worked smoothly again. If you can't get it to open at all this may not help you. But try repeated hard taps with your finger tips or even a small rubber hammer to see if you can shock it into opening. Bob THere is something about tapping that seems to work. My old GS cupholder by the shifter did the same...More than likely there IS some soda or gunk in there and had time to set. They can be stuborn ,but with alittle pursuation it will come open:)
  7. ...... That was your saying, lol! No, i didn't DIY although i do have plenty of patience and probably enough common sense i'm so busy w/ work. I had the labor done for 250.00 by this guy(THANK YOU Chi!!!) that's taken care of all of my lex's over the past 6yrs. Anywho, thanks for the push;)
  8. So i had my waterpump, timing belt, and pulleys replaced today.....Although money is tight right after the holiday it was overdue so i felt it was a must. I'm glad i did it ,but the belt still looked new. No cracks or wear to speak of. On one hand i'm happy it's done. On the other i could've REALLY saved the money only to do it later, But somebody on here said "procrastination is like masterbation..In the end you're just !Removed! yourself" So thanks for the motivation;)
  9. You may be in luck......Call Stebbins Autoparts502-363-2674 and ask for mike Mclain. Tell him Scotty sent ya because i believe they have a 98' 400 if it hasn't been picked over already. They're reasonable and ship anywhere, i hope this helps
  10. I just wanna take a moment to wish everyone a happy and safe new years this evening.....Whatever you do be careful tonight for there are more drunk drivers on the road than any other night of the year. PARTY SAFE EVERYONE;)
  11. I too had this problem a little while back...I used non oem lights but that wasn't the problem. What it ended up being was the light i used was not the same voltage amount so even though the bulb was working the voltage was too small for the breaklight failure light to recognize the it indeed was working...After using a bulb of the same recomended voltage the problem was solved:)
  12. INDEED.....I too am very interested to see how that looks!
  13. Well, i got in touch with the previous owner and asked him about what a matinence had been done while he owned it. Timing and water pump had been done at 60k. He did all of the scheduled work at 90k aswell. It was due at 120k so i just ordered new ones. I thought i had heard the ''wining" noise but didn't know if i was paranoid! Thanks for the imput, It's got a date with the mechanic on tues:)
  14. I have a 98' LS 400 with 134k on it, and I'm not sure if the timing belt has been replaced already. In the event that the timing belt breaks before i get to replace it will it(or can it) damage my engine? I've heard about older ones being ok but i'm unsure about mine.....

  16. AMEN!!!........To truely understand is to own one;)
  17. Thank you! I called the dealer earlier to get the color code for the leather and wood.....Now all i gotta do is find the match:)
  18. I have a very trust worthy japanease meachanic whom has serviced all 5 lexus's i've owned. He alway's uses oem parts and i've never had any issue related to his work, so i don't think it's the rotors or pads. unfortunatly he doesn't do tire balancing so i've had no choice but to use a ''ken towery" automotive that's near my work. I've had them balance the tires twice already so i'm starting to think it's the man more than the machine. You're totally right, what i'm gonna have to do is just go to the dealership and get it done right once and for all.......I just hope they give me a courtesy bandaid for after they've busted my head on the cost;)
  19. I drive a 98' LS400. I've had a 4 wheel alignment, balanced my wheels twice, replaced my tires, and had my rims inspected for damage. I'm still feeling a vibration at 65-70mph.I also have new rotors but it's in the steering wheel and not the brake peddle.Has anyone experienced this.....Rrrrrr, it's frustrating me!
  20. Checkout Car parts wholesale 866-828-4322. open 24/7 and they had them cheaper than a junkyard!
  21. Oh geez, it was about 4yrs ago. If i remember correct the part was "only" 90-120$ I had the luxury of having a cetified toyota guy who worked off the clock back then. What i do remember was it was removed and replaced from under the car, not to mention he did this in his driveway! Unfortunatly he has since moved so i can't reference him on the details. I would call lexus service and ask about the part and its location. I'm sorry it's so blurry, but i hope it helps:)
  22. :) :) Congrats on your new purchase!!! I predict a very happy car owner:) The LS is one of very few cars that will age like a fine bottle of wine!
  23. STOLEN.......Just when you think you've heard it all! That's truely a shame i'm sorry to hear that:( I will let you know for sure if it works. I just can't justify paying 350.00 or more at the dealer. Wish me luck and hopefully i'll return with some good news for you! Happy Holidays:)
  24. Craig, good morning.....I do know there is a link on lexus's main website for concepts. I don't remember what models it showed(i haven't checked it out in awhile) but, it did show some pretty space age looking concepts. Anyway if you happen to find some of the supposed 450 LS proto's please post a link as i would love to check them out! Have a great day:)
