  1. Sorry if this has been posted already but no search button on the mobile site. My car has 160k on it so no flush for me. My trans shifts smooth and no leaks visible but it looks just above the cold mark when warmed up.. I just want to add a bit
  2. To anyone even interested in this thread i dropped it off this evening to have the bearing replaced. I'll post the results when i get her back....I've been chasing this noise for 2 F'n years so hopefully this will do it;)
  3. A taurus....ouch! Actually from a depreciation standpoint that will be one of the few cars that WON'T bite u in the !Removed! when it gets 200k on it....It would blow your mind to see how much a clean high mile lexus will still bring at an wholesale auction. p.s. a camry/avalon may be the direction, but a taurus is not the answer;) good luck!
  4. Has anyone ever had to have the u-joint(drive shaft) replaced in a 98-00 GS300 for that matter?
  5. I should say it's more of a low rumble and less roar noise...98' gs300 146K
  6. Hi folks it's been awhile since my last post. I've been chasing this noise for awhile time now. I believed it to be a wheel beaing until they were both were replaced and i still heard it so out of frustration i just turned up the music, lol. Really it's not terribly bad except at a idle speed you can hear it loud kind of front n center. I believe now it's the center support bearing for the drive shaft...Has anyone heard this noise or replaced this bearing before? Thanks in advance, ScottE.
  7. Lightweight...I wish!!! A lightweight wouldn't have this much overhead(LOL!)...We'll just say my tolerance gets poor gas milage B)
  8. AWWW, The dreaded 60-65 mph shimmy...It SUCKS!!!! I've battled with this problem on many a lexus' And what i've found is the following: A quality tire is a must. I've had brand new tires that rode like sh*t all b/c i "tried " to save some money. Second, is the SAME shop doing the balance job for you? Generally speaking monkey see, monkey do meaning the machine is only as good as the person using it...If you really want a perfect balance job find a place that that has a "road force" balancer. Any reputible custom rim shop should have one...Hope this helps! P.s. You may also want to have your tie rods checked. Just a thought
  9. I wish i could help...My advice would be to get a second opinion from another shop before shelling out your $$$...Most shops will perform a brake inspection for free. Good luck Shawn
  10. I have one(or three) on a daily basis so when that offer comes along i will GLADLY accept!
  11. Yes sir ree BOB!! That's a HOT tip right there! :D At $200 a pop for the sensors it was nice to have a 10 minute fix;) Very liberating for my wallet!
  12. Check out this site...I'm sure someone on there can answer that for you: www.502streetscene.com Good luck;)
  13. Easy as cake! Problem solved...Sorry i didn't get to take any pics but all it took was a one phillips screw and it pulls out. We then took a shop rag and wiped the magnet clean and then stuck the corner of the towel down in the hole and spun the rotor a few times to wipe the teeth clean...! 10 minutes tops! FYI: we only did the fronts so i don't know about the backs...SHOOOO, i feel much better:)
  14. Wow... that's interesting! I thought so myself;)
  15. I found this thread lastnight...I believe this is my problem b/c it explains my symtoms to a tee: http://www.vr4stealth.com/abs_speed_sensor_cleaning.htm
  16. It's defidently not the rotors....It's like right before i stop my brake peddle falls...It doesn't hit the floor but it makes me nervous just the same. I'm wondering if my abs motor is going bad?
  17. It's defidently not the rotors....It's like right before i stop my brake peddle falls...It doesn't hit the floor but it makes me nervous just the same. I'm wondering if my abs motor is going bad?
  18. Ok, so when i'm coming to a slow stop just before i do my brake peddle depresses and feels as though my abs is kicking in...It's always felt tight and i just noticed a difference. Isn't the abs only supposed to do that if the car thinks it's gonna lock up Which i would assume would be faster than 1mph!
  19. i really need some help here...I think it's just right of the brake fluid resivor mounted vertically...There's also a computer for the VSC under the driver side kick panel...It's supposed to be on the sidewall but i'm having trouble locating it...Any pics of either confirming what it is and where it's at would be a big help. Thanks
  20. I had it checked out today...All abs wheel sensors are working properly but it did say ABS module circuit A and C failure. Anyone know if that means my ABS module is toast? The timing couldn't be worse for this $h*t to happen...GGGRRRRR!
  21. My ABS and VSC light is on my dash. I can still hear the abs motor coming on and off....Anyone who has had to deal with this that can tell me what to expect the problem to possibly be would be a great help! Money is tight and i'm afraid the process of elimination will be costly:( Thanks in advance, Scott
  22. I was told by a friend that his es300 has an access door that allows the fuel pump to be changed without dropping down the gas tank...I am wondering if a gs 300 has the same?
  23. So i put the michelin exalto's on and they sounded just as loud...I did however realize the left side bearing that was replaced last week was already bad...Either faulty(if not for bad luck i wouldn't have much) or not installed properly. At any rate it was replaced again free of charge and i'm now satisfied with bf goodrich traction t/a's that i originally purchased. This is my second set and i thought the first sounded quieter as they were 16's so i'm thinking that's why. They seems to work best in the midwest where our weather keeps you on your toes;) P.s. unfortunatly i've noticed a rattle in the rear now that my car doesn't sound like an airplane.....I'll add a new post as soon as i figure that one out;) That's how i KNOW i'm a tried and true lexus owner. It's not called the persuit of perfection for nothing!
  24. So last week i put bf goodrich traction t/a's on my gs300. I upgraded my wheels to factory gs400 17''s so it called for 235/45/17 tires. The tires are great(if you keep your stereo on blast)! The road noise bugs so much in fact i'm trading them in and paying an additional $200.00 for michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. Thank god for the 30 day return satifaction policy! Anyone have these tires in 17's on their car? I'd love to hear from you if you do.
