Well my girlfriend is pulling up, and she REFUSES to let me pay more attention to this forum than her. So i guess it's farewell until tomarrow! Have a wonderful night everyone;)

It just made me curious b/c the old thread was primarily gen 1 & 2's. As the newer models become more sofistocated(if i spelled that correctly:) you'd have to wonder if they are more prone to problems as we begin to rack up higher miles. Like a true Lexus owner i've always contemplated issues that don't even exsist. I have always had that "what if" complex!

What a treat on a very hot day! I love this feature:) I agree, great feature! I use it nearly everytime I approach the car 7 months out of the year. Oh, You're in ATL....Not far from me so we're on the same page weather wise;) -
Good question Miami. We have a 96' at our car lot and i will certainly ask the locksmith for you as he cuts keys for us every friday. I would think it's possible if they operate on the same type of frequency. I thought it was weird that first gens had the keyless entry keyhead then in 95' went to key faubs for three years? It made no sense to me.

Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
SK, You're always on point and no doubt that's probably what it was........I work for a used car dealer and have heard ALOT of heat sheilds rattle over the years ,and it didn't really sound consistant with that typical rattle. The only noise i use to describe it was almost like sipping through a straw when you've ran out of drink? I thought on the first morning that perhaps it was a vacume leak but ruled that out because it only occured briefly then went away. It's getting warmer now but i still listen for it. Thanks for the feedback;) -
Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Just a quick update...Today was the first fairly mild day today(50+degrees) and NO mysterious noise:) I can't help but think the cold weather played a key role in causing the annoying sound that made me start this thread! I just hope spring will hurry up and get here:) -
Long live, Yuki Togo......Long live LEXUS! I thank my lucky stars that Yuki Togo(the man who brought toyota to the top of the automotive food chain in america) with the help of Jim Moran Brainstormed the creation of the luxury brand Lexus. These two guys made it possible for people like us to have pure driving enjoyment for years to come. THANK YOU:)

I looking for a site that sells clear(euro) taillights for 98'-00' ls 400s'. I've been on ebay but to no avail. Does anyone know if they even make them? A link would be ideal!

word. PLEASE do not put those hideous rims on any vehicle, especially not one as beautiful as a Lexus. PLEASE know that more chrome doesn't make it better. Keep your 5-spokes, they look waay better. The five spokes in the picture are on a GS Lexus. He wants to put these on a 98 LS. As for me, the picture was too blurry for me to make an honest opinion. The five spokes were 20's and different ones on my old car......Nun the less i decided against putting the 18's on the LS. They would have just looked what they cost.....CHEAP!

Ok, We all know the older LS models run for a very VERY long time. I have a 98' with 135,000mi. and the highest miles i've seen on the same year or newer was 245,000 mi. Instead of resurecting the "highest mileage" thread i wanted to start a different one for the newer generations.

Replacing Hid Headlight Bulbs On 2002 Ls430
scottelble replied to Pasha's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus LS430
Don't get me wrong, i'm pretty strict about using oem parts. I did however replace the headlight bulbs in a 98' GS300 with aftermarket bulbs to get that White/blue light spectrum once before. I just felt that at $220 APIECE for oems' was outrageous(let alone $400 smackers!). They looked great and at only $30 each i couldn't complain. A 430 is a gorgeous car and i would never wanna disrespect it by taking a shortcut! You may however look into what kind of other bulbs are out there or check e-bay. It seems whenever you change one and not the other the new one is brighter. $800 dollars for LIGHTBULBS........Wait a minute....$800_____(add your favorite verb) DOLLARS for 2 lightbulbs is crazy! When i cross that bidge i would consider my options before crossing it. If you don't mind them it could save you about $740+tax. They're JUST lightbulbs! That's just my opinion;) -
Grinding Sound In Reverse When Braking
scottelble replied to WillJovi75's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Was it recently at the dealer? If that's the case i would take it back and politely explain what's going on....I would be willing to bet they would check it out for no charge or atleast give you an idea of what may be causing it. -
Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Check out this thread from the ES300 forum for some more opinions about this. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry179357 Let us know if you figure out what causes it. tck... I had my timing belt/waterpump/tention pulley replaced about 1000mi. ago so its not the pulley bearing. It could however be the tention pulley for the sepentine belt. At any rate i'm just gonna drive it until it makes the noise continuous, then i can fix it and not speculate what it may be.....I've been known to wear my brain out tryin to guess what something is or how serious it is. These cars run like a finely calibrated instrument, so when we hear something unusual it's our instinct to start tripping out! The LOC doubles as a support group for people like us...."Hi i'm Scottelble, and i'm a Lexaholic" -
Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
It didn't make the noise this morning either and it was as cold as any other morning! I'm gonna quit worrying and drive the d@mn thing.....I know I maintain it to the fullest so if and when something needs attention, it will surely get it;) -
Thanks for all the imput! That's why I asked. I'm thinking that you can't really improve on the design that came stock. If its not broke.....don't try and fix it;)
-
So these rims are at my work and i can get them for cheap. They look similar to the factory pattern on my 98' LS so i think they would look pretty good, but i wanted some input before i spend any money. Use your imagination and let me know what you think...........

Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
DAMN 92LEX, you were up late lastnight! My last car (98' GS) Had that going out but it made a sort of chirping noise so i don't think thats it. It did it this morning but after i got to work i had started it a few hours later when the engine was cold again. It wouldn't do it again all day? It was also a little warmer today so the outside temperature must play a role in causing this sound. I'm just gonna deal with it until it's continuous, that way i can find it instead of just speculating! I believe if it's even anything it's probably a bearing of somesort. -
Question For Ls Owners Who Live In Cold Weather
scottelble replied to scottelble's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I still haven't put my finger on it. The noise i'm hearing is on and off and if i start driving like 10 or 15 seconds after starting it's continuous. After it warms up it sounds fine. I had my head down in the engine compartment this evening(Like a true fanatic:) carefully listening to try and hear where it's coming from. I couldn't tell if it was the powersteering pump or the passenger side if the engine? It almost sounds like a bearing of some sort, but i wouldn't think if it were that it would quiet down after warmup? It's gonna bug me until i find it, and FIX it!!! -

92lex you're almost always on point(thanks for the timing B push;) i swear i'm hearing it in the engine compartment though....It doesn't sound like somethings wrong but like everyone else on here i'm on the pasionate pusuit of any noise unfamiliar!
