JIBBY...just wondering do you have full coverage on your car? How much do you pay for your insurance? You are paying for you own insurance right? This is simple...you have a car insured for X dollars per year. File a claim and get charged 60% x X + you loose any good driver discounts. Now why...unless you can not pay out of pocket or it would not be financially wise to do so would you turn in a claim that will cost you more in a couple of years? I have 3 cars insured, I carry full coverage on 2 and I keep my collision deductibles at $1000. Now I have multiple accident forgiveness and deductible rewards...and I still would not file a claim on my insurance unless it was a couple thousand dollars... General rule: Carry the highest possible deductible, and only file claims if you have to. Just because you have insurance doesn't mean you should use it. Now if this was a not at fault, or a comp claim...file it. Any impact would be very small if any.

How much was your estimate. As long as it is fixed properly I do not think it should have any effect on your lease. It will take a lot for the insurance company to total the car. Your lease should have GAP insurance in it anyway.

I agree, Tuck your shirt in and pull up your pants and wear a belt. Nuff said :P My sister in law just graduated high school last year. She was seeing this guy and sure enough he had girl jeans. What the F____! Sure enough that is the new fad. You don't like jeans that are baggy...buy ones that fit just not girls, or ladies...I bet your dad is proud that you wear womens clothing? My dad would have knocked the S H I T out of me.

That is so far from true. One claim depending if you are with a preferred or a standard company can be a huge difference. There are companies that have accident forgiveness built in so check your policy. If it has that benefit than use it. Otherwise I would not even think about filing the claim. I do not know your personal situation so it is hard to advise you what to do. But I spend a great deal of time as an insurance agent each and everyday talking them out of filing small claims on policies. It is in your best intrest to avoid filing any claim, but there are times that you have to use your insurance. In your case it would more than likely be filed as an At Fault not chargeable accident. Meaning that your company might not surcharge you but you may lose good driving discounts. Not that big of deal if you are not getting discounts but if you are it can be quite a bit. The best advice would be talk to your agent. If you do not have one and you are with a direct company guess you will have to deal with them on your own. Was this a county or a state road? You may be able to call the roads dept and explain that you hit a pot hole and I have had some people that have actually got them to cover the cost of the repairs. One final thought...get an alignment too. Good Luck!

$36k is not an expensive car but for a Hyundai...Errr. :chairshot: I will admit that they have come a long way but you will not see me spend that on one anytime soon. Funny thing is my neighbor's wife needed a new van she had a Honda, he drives a Toyota Truck. They ended up getting a Hyundai Entourage, surprised me he is a Dr. I was talking to him about it and he said he couldn't beat it...went on and on that the got this with everything for so much less than a Honda or Toyota. I just was like wow... He kind of poked fun at me that he would never spend that much money on a car like a Lexus or a Mercedes like me...now he surely is pulling in 6 figures no problem...given his wife stays at home but he lives pretty conservative. I just think to my self that you get what you pay for. One week later I notice his wife driving a Honda CRV...so I asked him what happened. He said his wife absolutely hated the Hyundai and she told him she was not driving it anymore. She said it was uncomfortable, did not handle well, and I have always suspected felt cheap! Again...I was just like wow. He took the van back and took a good beaten on it. Now I really like this guy and he is a great neighbor...so I did not rub salt in the wound. I just said that Hondas are great vehicles.

LEXIRX330 replied to forestnj's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I usually ask for oil change and tire rotation. If needed I have the air filter changed. My last service was 177.00 10% discount for the service dept scheduling the time wrong. -

Gx470. Estimated Travel Time Wrong?
LEXIRX330 replied to eyoung's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
Not sure if your is the same but on my RX it has preset speeds. They normally are low. Example: highway 55mph not 60 or 70. If you go in and adjust the speeds so that they are more in line with the way you drive it will help. Mine still overestimates the time it will take. -
Individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates. The rebates, expected to go out in June, would cost about $100 billion, aides said. The package also includes close to $50 billion in business tax cuts. The package would allow businesses to immediately write off 50 percent of purchases of plants and other capital equipment and permit small businesses to write off additional purchases of equipment. A Republican-written provision to allow businesses suffering losses now to reclaim taxes previously paid was dropped. The rebates would phase out gradually for individuals whose income exceeds $75,000 and couples with incomes above $150,000, aides said. Individuals with incomes up to $87,000 and couples up to $174,000 would get partial rebates. The caps are higher for those with children. That is nice! Go figure...if you don't pay and taxes you get a tax refund??? But if you make too much money and pay taxes no refund for you! :chairshot:

Or... How about when you find that perfect spot next to a nice car. But when you return there is someones 1982 3 tone chevette parked 1 foot away from you. Or what I see more and more is these lazy a s s people that leave their shopping carts out in the middle of the lot. I mean you walk that far because you don't want your car damaged but you leave the cart right next to my car. WTF!
-
Same as others. Stay as far away as possible. Park close as possible to the curbs. If you can angle the car a little. But defiantly do not take up two spots.
-
Good one.

Glad you are back...Sharp lookin car!

Automatic Back Power Door In 2005 Rx330
LEXIRX330 replied to rbhavsar's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
I am almost sure most all new cars have this feature. If something is caught in the door or window. It will stop or reverse. Sunroofs even have this. I am certain that the rear does this I have had a box that was sticking out just a little to far and when I tried to close it would close...stop...and then re open. I should have worded my previous post differently...sorry. -
Automatic Back Power Door In 2005 Rx330
LEXIRX330 replied to rbhavsar's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
I may be wrong but I think that it is standard. I know mine has it, if something is under the back door it will not close. -
I thought he was checking her out! I had someone in Ocean City do that about 6 or 7 years ago. A few of my buddies and I were in my Jeep Wrangler. This idiot cut me off. So one of the guys in back of my Jeep started yelling at him at the next light. The idiot threw a full beer at my Jeep. He missed...but there was a cop on the other side of me and he saw the whole thing. 5.0 got EM! Priceless!

That is too funny...I was at Arby's in the drive thru. Now I am with the wife in her car and we have the baby in the back in a carseat he started screaming...was getting hungry. So I turned around to check on him as this young punk a s s kid was backing out of his parking spot. I guess he thought I was turning to stare at him or something. Anyway he just stopped and kept looking over at me. I am not sure if he could not see the baby seat in the back or not. But he just kept looking over at me...thank god for the voice of reason in the car (my wife) she just said don't let him get your blood pressure up. Just don't worry about him. My wife and son were in the car with me so I was not about to jump out of the car but man a few years ago I would have jumped out of the car and beat that little punk down. It is funny how having a family changes things. I certainly would do anything to protect them...but there was absolutley no reason to add any fuel to the fire with this little kid driving his mommys toyota corrolla. I just have to remind myself sometimes that it is just not worth it.

What is wrong with the paint? I can't understand why you bought it if you have seen better paint jobs on Fords and Chevys, didn't you look at the SUV before you bought it.

I just clean my windshield when the lights are in the off position if I do not want the lights sprayed. It is kind of dumb when you have a button that is for spraying the lights that it automatically sprays them when the lights are on. :whistles:

It should, it is an Explorer ;) How different is the aviator from the explorer? We both know that the explorer's aren't very reliable, but does that mean the aviator will most likely have the same problems? All i think about when i think of the aviator is that it's just an explorer with a different badge. That maybe true but that is also like saying all a RX is is a highlander with a different badge or a ES is just a camry with a different badge. I am not a fan of Ford products and would have no interest in the Aviator...don't like the looks, gas mileage is awful...but the MKX is sure one sharp looking SUV. My wife even said how much she liked it. The only dislike I have about that is the rear lights. I saw one at night and it just looks kind of goofy. I have said I will never own another Ford, GM, or Jeep (Chrysler) unless things really change. I am starting to see now that the quality is improving on almost all of the newer vehicles...it had too. If I was considering a new SUV I think that I would take a look at the MKX...I think that the GMC Acadia is real sharp too. If Cadillac came out with an Acadia equivalent...I would also look at that. I hate the SRX.

Which is why I said that their mom is a joke! SW- I think you and I are on the same page on this. :D :D I agree 110% that for the most part it falls back on the parents. But there are so many kids that are growing up without any parents, or parents that care. And one day they will be parents too. That is what is so scary... I see more and more young people that have no respect at all. Most younger people today have no clue what life is about. They grow up seeing this "fantasy life" and they act, and imitate these people. My parents taught me to respect my elders. They also taught me to treat people the way I would like to be treated. It is called values. Most people even my age (28) have no respect for adults. It drives me crazy when I see an older person walking in/out of a restaurant and you see a younger person almost knock them down to get in before them. It is a shock to ever see a younger person hold the door for anyone. I could go on and on...cell phones everyone knows but they accept this. You are right...this is mainly because of parents or lack of parents! What is going to happen in another 10 -15 years when these kids start raising kids. I have a 18 year old sister in law. I have know here since she was 10 years old. I have seen the impact "stars" like Britney and Paris have on kids. My sister in law is a good girl and knows right from wrong but 8 out of 10 of her friends that she was in school with and grew up with do not. So even when her parent try to teach her values...it is difficult when the kids that are around her all want to be like "Britney" or any of the other celebs. She has just started working a "real" job, bought a car, and just has had to move back in with mom and dad for the 2nd time. She is finding out how hard life is. "STARS" like Britney and such are setting the "ordinary" children back so far in life by acting the way they do and setting a poor example. And quite a few of the parents are paying her to do it!

I never said that I was judging her. I even cut out part of my rant out... I was going to say that we are not here to be judge anyone. That's pretty funny that you said it. But I do not feel sorry for her. She has many opportunities to do good with her fame, no she doesn't have too...but this to ME determines what type of person she is. The question is if you had a young daughter would you want her to look up to her. My answer is NO. She is a terrible role model. She is a terrible mother from what we have seen. I will certainly agree that if you took my life or Your life and put it under a microscope you would find many imperfections. I never said I was perfect. And why are so many kids doing this...do you think that some maybe acting like her? This is the part that gets me. Why would you let your daughter act like Britney Spears? I guess now you are just going to reverse what I have said. "I think it is disgusting that people waste so much time, energy, and money...giving a s h i t what Britney Spears, or any other celebrity does. Why??? I can understand the little teeny boppers but come on. So what they sing, act or do whatever they are paid to do. They may be in some cases very talented...again so what. I must be different but I have never been one to get infatuated with celebrities." I do not care one bit if Britney Spears is here today or tomorrow. She will be replaced by the next "Star" Anna Nicole, Britney, Paris, J lo, Jessica, or any of today's pro athletes...I may listen to their music, watch a football game or two. But I will not change my life in anyway to be more like any of them. As a matter of fact. I have actually not purchased items because of a celebrity. I think that it is crazy that " T. O. " acts like a spoiled little child...and people look up to him. Dad's...with their kids cheer him on. Then they are amazed that their kids act out with the same disrespect that he does??? I do admit he has been much better with Dallas then he has ever been, but in my opinion he should not even be on the field. So many people want their children to be successful...but they do not care how they achieve it. This is my problem and what I feel so strongly about. When there is outrage in the public about the most trivial things but as you said " many girls her age act that way its just not broadcast all over the world " and most people today accept this. See what I mean. Why are time a changin' Because it is becoming the norm to have little girls act like prostitutes and have a few babies before they are out of high school. I wonder what things will be like in another 10 years with so many people that just do not care.
-
Maybe so. So we should feel sorry for her. Poor Britney. Sorry I do not feel sorry for her at all... If you want to feel sorry for someone feel sorry for her children. That would explain why there is almost an acceptance of this type of behavior in society. Because we don't know what it is like to be poor Britney. That is just an excuse. So because I do not know what it is like to have been abused as a child I shouldn't comment on child abusers. Come on. Sure she has had more money and fame thrown at her than probably all of us would have know what to do with. But that is an excuse, and there is no excuse in her acting the way she does with her children. She has more than enough resources to have her children looked after properly if she just wants to be a screw up now. And this of course is what she wanted to start with. I think it is disgusting that people waste so much time, energy, and money...giving a s h i t what Britney Spears, or any other celebrity does. Why??? I can understand the little teeny boppers but come on. So what they sing, act or do whatever they are paid to do. They may be in some cases very talented...again so what. I must be different but I have never been one to get infatuated with celebrities. And the last thing that *BLEEP*es me off about this stuff...is that you can not even watch the news with out hearing about her or Parris, Nicole, Angelina...and we are surprised when this happens.

They do not care. They have no self respect so why would they care about anyone else. The worst thing is now they are responsible for someone elses life... Their mom is a joke!
