You are correct the paint easily shows scratches. My black GX is the same. Had a white RX that was easy but still showed. I can see scratches swirl marks in the paint. If I spend some time I can get most out but the first car wash they are back.

You just need to hold the button to open keep holding it, it will open all the way then should close and the stop. I think that is how you reprogram it. I am going by memory.

You know this is kind of funny. I see a 4 runner with the chrome door handles and I think it looks cheap. It just doesn't add to it IMHO. However on my GX, I love the chrome door handles and the strip on the side...it looks refined. I think if done right and not BLINGED out...it looks classy. However...some of the newer cars seem to take it to the extreme.

Yea...it stinks but you will get them. If it bothers you that much you can take some touch up and then re-apply to fill it, you may want to do it a few times, let it dry, then re-apply until it is slightly built up. Then you can if you are comfortable after it has dried well take fine grit sand paper and wet and sand down extremely lightly. Afterwards you can take some scratch remover and get the scratches out I use Scratch X. Just be careful not to sand to hard and use a fine grit paper. I have done this on my Harley, on my Lexus I have a small chip that I just noticed...I may just use a touch up pen which works good too. By the way Welcome to LOC...make sure to show us some PICS of the car...you can include the chip too. We all love to vent about that type of stuff!

If it serviced well you can certianly go past 200,000. $2000 isn't bad to buy it back if you can get it fixed up and pocket a little for future repairs.

I guess it depends how much damage. Are they going to give you a salvage title? It is your choice but I don't know if I would want to buy the car back with 185,000 on it with a salvage title which it sounds like what they are offering.

Welcome to LOC! I sent you a PM back but in case you didn't get it here it is... Trust me I came from driving a X5 and That has touchy brakes, the GX for the longest time I caught myself rolling since I wasn't used to pushing so hard on the brakes. They defiantly seem to be mushy as you say but I have gotten used to it. Best of luck.

I actually got worse news this morning which kind of made my dog seem insignificant. I got a call from my neighbor that their daughter in her mid 30's killed herself. She had two young kids just a little older than mine. They are over all of the time playing with my kids...I just can't get my head together. Here my kids are sad about loosing our dog...which I know is a big loss but these two little girls will never see there mom again. And my neighbor's now will be raising their grand-kids...I don't want to go into a lot of details...but I just don't think that I could ever understand what could drive a person to that point...and with two little ones like she had...My neighbor and his wife are great and I just can't even think of what to say...there aren't even words for things like this.

SW...there are more people on government assistance than ever, his administration is stripping the work requirement for welfare...what Bill Clinton did to get more people off of the system. As he said if he couldn't cut the defecit he would not deserve to get re elected. He hasn't done it...not even close. Not only that every single unemployment report always ends up getting revised higher. And the fact is there are just so many people that are underemployed too. I like Paul Ryan, I agree with what he is saying...As far as Mitt Romney I guess we will see what we see but I like what I hear better from him than the hope and change we were all promised.

All I know is what the man said his self...if in 4 years he couldn't cut the deficit than he didn't deserve a 2nd term. Everything Obama has done has expanded government with no plans on slowing down. More people on government assistance and they are advertising it now too. He is undoing what was a great thing that Bill Clinton did...get people off of welfare. I am sorry every projection that his cronies put out when the facts get released end up costing more. There has to be some balance...and I'm with NC get rid of those nuts Pelosi and Reid...congress can't get anything passed because of the senate, Reid has said he isn't going to allow anything the Republican controlled congress passes? What is that? They all need to get pay cuts, term limits, no special health plans or benefits. Obama's healthcare law has been so confusing...no one still knows exactly how it will work and what the effects will be...but one thing is for sure it hasn't at all helped address the cost of health insurance...which was another thing he promised. I would take Romney any day over Obama to run my business, manage my business, or run our country. I have seen what Obama has done, I don't care what people think that Romney will do I am ready to give someone else a chance.
