  1. Sewell and park place Lexus are usually pretty good suppliers for Lexus accessories. The chrome tip is the same as the Toyota 4runner V8, just look for a online Toyota supplier or ebay, it will be cheaper, I believed is made by Valor. I remember seeing one of those coin tray to replace the ash tray a while back, it was a Japanese part import, but I cant find it anymore. Anyway, what I did was I went to the craft store and bought some felt sheets with self sticking back and felt lined the ash tray myself. It wasnt too hard, took me about 30 minutes and save $50.
  2. Jones357, I am sure you already know this, but a brand new BMW 7 series with the same equipment is $30000 more. When I was looking at the GS, I cross shopped the 5 series which was about $10000 more. The 5 series handles better and acceleration was about the same. Handling is not as important to me as Luxury, BMW's interior just didnt cut it for me. On top of that, the I-drive was a joke. I am not sure why your GX is rough in shifting, the 5 series I test drove shifts about the same as the GS. Maybe there is something wrong with your GS, might want to have the dealer check it out.
  3. If the damage have gone through the leather coating, I dont there is any touch up repairs that you can do. The seat cover will have to be replace. This is one of the reason why I candition my leather every 3 months, to keep it from being too dry. Press the dealer for repair, see what comes out of it. Good Luck
  4. I am not sure how big the registration stickers are in DC, but here in MA, they are pretty small. I don’t have to remove the plate to stick them on. The holes on the bumper when the plate screws in are reinforce, but they can strip if it’s over tighten. They are certainly not design for removal annually. If it’s a new GX, get the dealer to repair that strip screw. Good Luck
  5. Sorry to hear your problems, I have had nothing but good experience from Lexus and I have owned 3 of them. If your GX is brand new, how can it be out of warranty? If it is out of warranty, Lexus is not responsible for the repair, sometimes they will do it out of good will, but not all the time.
  6. 1st of all, congrats on your new GS. You are right, it’s not fair to compare the 740iL to the GS. The 740iL should be compare to the LS series instead. Having said that, it seems like you drive your car pretty hard and the BMW is more suited for that kind of driving. The transmission in the Lexus is program for fuel economy, if you want more instead acceleration, try using the sport mode on the ECT or use the manual shifter. Laying down rubber may be nice for a boy racer, but it’s a Lexus after all. When your burn rubber, you are actually losing traction and it will slow down your acceleration. Just look at the numbers, the 740iL 0-60 in 6.8 sec. and the GS460 0-60 in 5.5 sec. More than 1 sec faster. That goes to show you, just because the GS doesn’t feel like its going fast, that doesn’t mean that it is not. The BMW does handle better, but I think anyone who have done their research should have known that before going into the dealer. I am sure your passengers will appreciate not being thrown around in the GS like they were in your old BMW. If you are going to compare the GS to a Chevy Cavalier, your opinion may be bias. Sounds like you like to drive your car hard and you miss your BMW. The Nav while moving can be over ride, and the reliability on the Lexus should be better than the BMW.
  7. $2733 for a 3 year warranty is way too expensive, you can get the same Lexus warranty online for almost half of the price.
  8. If you are talking about the park assist, they are do that, just turn it off during a snow storm.
  9. Almost all of GS's competitors have a bit more headroom, A6, 535i, RL, CLS and M45, leg room is similar.
  10. Bring it back to the dealer, sounds like what ever they replace didnt fix the problem. When you start and shut off the car 15 times, all you are doing is resetting the error code.
  11. All built in GPS are like that, the maps are updated every 2 or 3 years and release the year after that. Just enter a coordinate, you can save address with the coordinate in the 7.1, or you can just sit in your driveway and save current position.
  12. Be nice doc, just trying to help :)
  13. We will have to wait and see what the re-design 4runner will offer. The GX is basically a 4runner, they share the same powertrain as the 4runner V8.
  14. brickauto, what year is your GX, most later model GX have 100,000 spark plugs.
  15. Did you reset the nav screen or reset the dash maint. light? It is 2 diff procedures.
  16. Its a oil change reminder, the manual tells you how to reset it.
  17. Are you talking about the parking light? The day time running light is not suppose to be on when the headlight is on.
  18. Every state have different lemon laws, what applies in Minneapolis may not apply in NY. I am surprise your dealer cant fix a headlight problem, have you try another dealer?
  19. I think starting 2 years ago, the GX can have the stand alone KDSS option or have the sport package option, which includes the KDSS and the interior trims. Both are hard to find, check your dealer's inventory.
  20. Go to a Toyota dealer, it will be cheaper.
  21. The KDSS option is just KDSS. If you buy the sports option, you get the KDSS, black wood, brushed aluminium trims and chrome tips.
  22. Not that I know of, but you can prevent the screen from going back to the nav after you switch it to audio. The option is in the menu button.
  23. natestergx, there is 2 sets of bracket for each 3rd row seat. One on the 3rd row arm rest and one on the cargo floor. both of the brakets are fasten to the body of the truck. Any body who will sell you a 3rd row seat cannot remove the barkets that are fasten to their truck. It might be cheaper just to trade in your GX for a another one that came with 3rd row seats.
