  1. Well I made the mistake of going into the showroom while waiting for my LX470 to be brought up after service and all of the cars in the large show room had been removed except one. In the center of the floor sat a new LS460. Fell in love and put a deposit on the next Mercury Metallic unit due in a week. I am in my 3rd LX and it is time for a change. This will REALLY be a change!
  2. Well now it is going to cost even more! I made the mistake of walking into the showroom while waiting for my LX470 to be brought up for pick-up and there it was a new LS460! I am on my 3rd LX and I think it is a time for change. If the new LX replacement is bigger or built here in the USA, I want no part of it. Going to the dealer today to sign papers for the 460
  3. Is it my imagination or is service getting ALOT more expensive. My 2004 LX470 has been costing about $200 per the average and $900 for the 30k. The 40K was just over two hundred. I just dropped it off to get the 45k and the guy told me it is $571! WTF. I see they are changing the tranny and front and back differential fluids but $571? The gave me a hybrid for a loaner. A different animal indeed! Other than zero noise at a standstill, it has good pickup but I do not like the varible tranny.
  4. If you log onto lexus.com and register your vehicle (free) it will provide you with an owners manual (via acrobat) or you can send a request to get one for free. If you don't want to do that here are some answers to your questions: 1. safety feature, if you're zooming down the freeway and you're in H, your center of gravity is too high, thus a potential rollover, L is used primarily to ease the egress for passengers and for loading purposes. If you want to stay in the selected mode, select your desired mode the turn "OFF" the automatic feature while in that mode. 2. In extreme situations, stuck in mud, snow etc. 3. If in N, there is no power to your wheels at all. H for higher speeds, L for lower speeds, climbing steep hills, towing. Hope this helps In my 2004 Low is so low you could only use for VERY slow speeds. Your transmission will click thru all gear quickly and you will be hitting a whopping 20mph. As far as raising and lowering the body, I find no way to turn off this funtion. I do not think the 2004 will allow you to leave it in other than medium height over a certin speed.
  5. Sounds like the door actuator. I had that issue in my GS. Thank goodness for CPO warranty. They priced the job at $500 for a door actuator. I paid $0. Just the labor to pull the door panel off! I will have them fix next week at the 40k service
  6. My front passenger door lock no longer engages whenI hit the lock/unlock button on the driver side. If I do it several times it sometimes will lock or un-lock. Looks like something has come loose. Guess it will be fixed at the 45k service under warranty. :(
  7. Be sure to use OEM belts. You likely with not be happy with the noise level or performance of aftermarket belts. Should be able to get the set for less than $30, the two OEM alternator belts come as a factory matched pair. Replacing belts is not a terribly hard job although the altenator adjustment bolt is kind of a pain to get at. You should consider getting the factory service manual or even a Chilton's or Haynes if your going try to do your own maintenance like this. They'll have all the bolt torque the belt tensioning specs., which you'll want to barrow a belt tensioning guage from a buddy in order to make sure you have them tensioned correctly. Rookie. Thanks Rookie, Does anyone know where to get a Service Manual for '96 Lexus LX450 or Landcruiser. Nothing available in my area. Why even bother looking for the manual in your area? Do a google and you will find MANY companies who sell the manual via the internet. :o
  8. Not sure if my reception is bad or there is just so much interferance. I only listen when our local Jacksonville team plays and I can't watch on TV but I get lots of background noise and the station is tight here in Jax. The AM band is great for electrical interferance!
  9. Sounds like I was fighting you all the way! Thanks!
  10. My dealer is telling me that there is a recall to install some resistor in the daytime driving light circuit to decrease the brightness. I told them they must be joking. They said not and told me it was my choice. Anyone else out there with a 2004 LX470 that got this notice from Lexus. I think I would prefer them to be brighter than dimmer.
  11. I figured it would be posted in here first but you never know. the end of 2007 is getting closer everyday!
  12. an update: lexol cleaner did not work woolite did not work normal soap did not work figernail polish remover did not work hairspray did not work fine steel wool... i know i know.. did not work. degreaser did not work lesson learned. no black belts on sterling interior p.s. i used the harsh stuff in a very small amt and area. I have a simular problem. I have used Lexol on my LX2004 seats from when it was new. It HAS kept my seat soft and supple but I feel it has aided in the trasfer of the blue dye from my blue jeans to the light brown leather. The drivers seat edges have now got a blue tint. Have tried all types of cleaners and the stain persists. Any suggestions would be quite helpful!
  13. It is no secret that they will no longer have a LX470. The secret is what will replace it. I will hold onto my 2004 till the replacement comes along!
  14. JX or LX, the name does not matter, "the" replacement for the LX470 is what I am talking about!
  15. Just get it to the showrooms. My saleman has already committed the 2nd new one to me. I would be first but the owner thinks he is special! :chairshot:
  16. The LX is far from a HUGE SUV. I hope the leave the size of it's replacement the same as the original. I am on my 3rd LX and just ready for a change
  17. I agree with 2008 but we should see or hear more before 2008! Was just asking and hoping for a underground URL for information.
  18. I know these things are guarded but I can not believe the lack of information about the LX470 replacement. I google and see very little. :cries: Got to be some images somehwere, even if they have screwed some false panels on this beast! :o I want one! :D
  19. There is logic in what your Lexus is doing. I am not sure if that is adjustable, if so the dealer could take care of it.
  20. I have the Dueler A/T Revos. AWESOME...and NOT louder than the LTXs If the tires show dryrot to the point where the sidewalls are cracked pretty bad, there is little you can do. I would also think twice about the tire selection, most are happy with the Michelins
  21. I would send you mine as I remove them the day I get the vehicle but I know the dealer will want them back at trade in. $2500! WOW!
  22. Depending on what you are driving now the 2007 has more HP and an extra gear in the tranny comparied to my 2004 LX. For the BIG change, we are being told it will be 2008 :o
  23. This space is warm on my 2004 LX470 but I find nothing unusual about it. The tranny will and does create some heat and will heat this area up. It is NOT heating up my seat but inside the console. When the vehicle is not moving more than when you are at idle. It is normal as my last two Lx470s did the same. Are you using your AC? ;)
