  1. AWD is not a hoax and it is full time 50:50 despite what others have said here. It doeasn't just kick in when there is slippage but It's on all the time. Why would Lexus cheat and lie to it's customers and the whole world if it was actually 95:5 or if it was only part time ???
  2. How are you going to put 17" tires on your 18' wheels?? The savings with the 17" tires are going to be offest by the cost of the new wheels. Actually you're quite lucky you got 47k miles out of your GYs. Most people get around 25K mi.
  3. Thanks Booyah. I'll try again with the dealer.
  4. I agree with both opinions. I used Zaino on my black car and I didn't like that mirror look and frankly I wasn't impressed with the durability either. Zaino by itself is not a polish although now they have a dedicated polish . The most important step in the detailing process is the polishing step. When you're satisfied with the paint condition after polishing then top it off with an LSP. No wax will give you good results if the prep work is incorrect. There are many good products out there. Don't just limit yourself to one.
  5. From what I've read you mights also think about a cyclo polisher. I've never tried one but from I've read at Autopia that there are no vibrations associated with the cyclo. Might be worth it to do an internet search and investigate.
  6. Are you talking about these 81150-0E020 and 81110-0E020? I got them from an older post by you. A couple of months ago I took my car to the dealer and complained that my headlights seem dim. I specifically gave them these part numbers The service advisor wrote "check for headlight update" on the ticket. When I picked up the car the invoice said that no update was available. Are these just updated HID bulbs (D2S)? Can I just buy and install them myself if my dealer won't aknowledge the update? BTW Mine is an earlier build RX330- Aug03. Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Adjusting the headlights is the only thing that I would never trust any dealer to do. I adjusted mine myself after having the same problems everyone is complaining about. I did it in small increments. First time I raised them about 5 turns. A couple of days later I raised them about 3 more turns and now they're much better. If you can open the hood and check your oil a nd coolant level you can easily adjust your own headlights without waiting for these incompetent dealers. All what you need is a socket and a long phillips screw driver to adjust them horizontally. All the instructions should be in the owners manual. Check the first post for instructions. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...ight=headlights
  8. No, The one for the power door is EL002R-04 APR 04. You can find all TSBs for the RX here http://www.alldata.com/TSB/74/04740817.html Just have the dealer check it. Maybe you just have a defective module. Edit: You didn't mention if this is an intermittent problem or not.Did you try resetteng the Auto feature from the glove box button? Do it once and see if it helps.
  9. There was a TSB on the liftgate module malfunctioning but I believe that was on 2004 models. Iam surprised that an 06 model still has the same issues.Anyhow call your dealer and have them check it out. It may still be related to the TSB for the liftgate module.
  10. I don't know about the 17" wheels but for the 18" try to get the Michelins. They're a lot quieter than the Goodyears. If your dealer has some vehicles with Michelins insist that he swaps them for you.
  11. I have the 18in OEM Michelins and they are dead quite. When we got the car I insisted that the dealer switch the Goodyears to the Michelins and so far I haven't been dissapointed. They have a softer sidewall than the GYs wich helps in ride and noise but gives less steering precision. I make up for this by running them at 33PSI cold .Max is 35PSI. BTW The only noise that should be heard is the wind noise. At 60mph engine noise is really low and with the Michelins I have no tire noise. I don't think it should be 90dbs.
  12. Check out this post. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&hl=destination
  13. Your swirls keep coming back because the fillers used to hide the swirls keep washing off. You'd be surprised how many so called professional detailers induce swirls while "detailing" your car. After my second professional detailing I bought a Porter Cable ,a rotary buffer and all the pads and polishes to do my own detailing. If you have the means and the time do your own detailing .Nobody will care for your car more than you.
  14. Having owned both you can't go wrong with either. One bad thing about the 300 was the turning raduis .It was huge. That has been fixed in the330. Otherwise I feel the 300 has a better interior (more wood),less cargo room, horrible sunroof noise and better ride at the expense of less roadholding. I love the 330 for the power liftgate ,power entry system, better audio (ML) and better gas mileage. I almost forgot, of course the 330 has the transmission software issues. It's adaptive alright , but it's the driver that has to adapt to the transmission not the other way around! Very Annoying! That's all I can remenber for now. Later
  15. Tealboy 1.Unless you're getting one hell of a deal on the 300 I would strongly consider buying a new RX330. Some people are getting their cars close to invoice. This way you'll have the peace of mind of a new car warranty. 2.If you decide to buy the 300 I would keep it until the drivetrain warranty expires and then unload it to avoid any out of pocket costly transmission replacement. Just my 0.2$.
  16. Sorry to hear about your car. The same thing happened to my wife's black RX330 3months ago while she was parked at Costco ( to the tune of $1500) ,and the culpert never even bothered to leave a note. Anyway if the work is done by good body shop you shouldn't know the car was hit. If you're worried about the quality of the repair ask your Lexus dealer what place they take their cars to and go there. The place that fixed our car was recommended by our dealer and they did an excellent job. You can't tell where the repairs were made. Good luck
  17. You probably scratched the car while drying it. Having a coat of wax doesn't mean that you shouldn't wash the car. Waxing alone will not remove the scratches. Go to your local auto supply store and buy: 1. Auto car wash soap. 2. Quality wash mitt, meguiar's applicator pads (3 or4) and a couple of drying towels ( i use microfiber towels). 3.A swirl mark remover like 3M SMR or Meguiars #9 SMR. 4.Four or five wax removal towels. They should be either microfiber or 100% cotton. 4. A good quality wax. Start by washing the car .Make sure your wash mitt stays clean otherwise you'll be adding more scratches. Dry the car with a clean towel. Apply the SMR (after reading the instuctions on the bottle) with a clean applicator and remove with a clean towel. Start with a 2X2 area and inspect your work. If you still have scratches repeat the process until the scratches are gone.Always work on a cool surface and do one panel at a time. After you're satisfied with the results apply your wax with a clean applicator. There are a lot more dedicated products out there but most of them can only be bought online. If you need more in depth instructions go to the meguires site or to any detailing forum like Autopia and read. Hope this helps and good luck.
  18. I'm sure about the RX330 wheels. Don't know about the 400H. The wheel size can be found in the sticker on the driver's door jam. Maybe an RX 400h owner can look and verify.
  19. Size: 18x7 Offset: +35 Bolt pattern: 5x114.3 Bolt Size: M12x1.5
  20. mikjr The tech who drove your car is probably right. The noise you're experiencing could very well be due to worn tires. 33K miles sounds about average for the goodyears to be worn out. The OEM Michelins MXV4 S8 that came on some RX including mine are DEAD QUITE with excellent ride ,and that's what I would buy if low noise and good ride are your priorities. You'll be giving up some steering response over the GYs due to softer sidewalls. I replaced my first set at 22K mi due to uneven tirewear [Alignment corrected afterwards]. I've read about some owners getting 50K mi out of their michelins. Good Luck
  21. Hi all Coastal Tech has a Navigation Enhancement Kit for the Prius that will disable the factory motion sensor without cutting into the factory wires. From what I've read a while back they're working on something similar for Lexus models. I didn't talk to them so I'm not sure if this will work on RXs. If anyone does please post. Here's the link: http://www.coastaletech.com/nav_kit.htm.
  22. Try a Claybar with a diluted soap/water mixture as lubricant.
  23. Hello This is my first post but I've been lurking around for a couple of years. Just had the A/C noise taken care of by my dealer. Reading from the invoice "Replaced A/C line bracket per TSB" Not sure what TSB they're referring to. Parts replaced: 88892-0E010- Protector,Cooler. 90044-64009- Clamp. 88688-0E011- Bracket Cooler. 88569-0E030- Clamp,Piping. 90080-17186- Nut,Flange. AC whine is completely gone and car is quite again. Hope this helps.
